POPSFacebook valuation cut 75%? Obviously i have no idea if this is true, but if Facebook is now being valued at $3-4B, how does Microsoft feel about investing at a $15B valuation?

POPSYahoo turns to Google. Microsoft cries foul. Very interesting move by Yahoo! They may be able to significantly increasing their earnings by integrating Google's search ads on their own site. Talk about a potential blow to microsoft. To think that they're left crying foul about this being anti-competitive after all these years is beyond ironic.

POPSGoogle still kicking Yahoo and Microsoft's ass! The part I actually find most surprising is that over 40% of the U.S. search market doesn't use Google. But considering how hard Microsoft and Yahoo are trying to catch them, it's amazing that they haven't been able to make any progress.

POPSIs Microsoft going to invest in Facebook? I'm no expert, but i'd be surprised to see Facebook take this investment from microsoft instead of from an independent investor or through an IPO that would enable them to remain independent of any industry players. I also think Microsoft should pony up the $10B and try to buy the entire company. If Microsoft owned Facebook they would immediately become much more competitive with Google.

POPSMicrosoft getting serious about buying Yahoo! Maybe, just maybe, the recent "losses" to Google in acquiring DoubleClick and YouTube were Microsoft's way of goading Google into acquiring those companies so that Microsoft could more easily acquire Yahoo without any anti-trust problems. Possible?

POPSGoogle to buy the Pacific Ocean This is from a blog post i wrote in September of 2005. Felt like digging it up and clipping it in honor of Google's latest multi-billion dollar acquisition. This time it's DoubleClick. Man, it seems like it's not if, just when, they will be bigger than Microsoft.

POPSAnother great review of Clipmarks Lately, Clipmarks has been getting some great media coverage. It is really exciting to wake up, pour a cup of coffee and check out the positive mentions that seem to be sprouting up. This one is from The News & Observer, the daily newspaper in Raleigh, NC. "indespensable" "ingenious" ... i couldn't agree more :)

POPSMicrosoft goes after iPod with an Argo (clip-size) Ok, i'm honestly posting this clip to try to make a point. Anderson previously posted this clip which contained the entire article this clip came from. http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/8D628B21-E43C-4C31-82A1-0CFA956B98D7/ I've written a bunch lately about my thinking that clips need to be a certain size ("clip-size") in order to make the site effective for everyone. Curious what you all think. Anderson, no disrespect meant at all. I think your clips are very interesting. Just honestly looking to get feedback from people about an issue i see being critical to clipmarks' future.

POPSJohn Battelle on Google becoming omni-powerful A very interesting comparrison (and perhaps prediction) by Battelle that Google's perception may become a major liability for them. From the conversations i've had with people about Google, i'd say the two most common words used to describe them are "impressive" and "scary".

POPSCould Diller out-fox the search engines? I'm looking forward to seeing how Ask finds new ways to approach search. Clearly, there are many things that could be done to make the user experience better. I wouldn't put it past Diller to figure out a way to become a serious player. The parallels to the days of CBS, NBC and ABC are interesting to say the least.

POPSIs AOL the flop? Interesting analysis by John Battelle of some of the possibilities of AOL partnering/being acquired by Google, Yahoo, MSFT...

POPSGAOL - really? all i can say is that the blog post i wrote the other day called "Google to buy the Pacific Ocean" (http://clipmarks.blogs.com/ericgoldstein/2005/09/google_to_buy_t.html) was pretty sarcastic, but i'm beginning to think it might be true.
