POPSThe Spread of Ideologies: ClipCast v. The Rise of Bengali Islam Although I've always enjoyed using clipmarks as a tool to research social trends and ideologies, with Clipcast, Clipmarks is rapidly becoming a subject worthy of such research itself. Consider this: The effect of making Clipmarks (and it's community of ardent followers) mobile, and capable of organizing in more than one internet context is remarkably similar to the way in which Islam spread over much of South and South Eastern Asia. For those who are interested, I heartily suggest reading Richard Eaton's "The Rise of Islam on the Bengal Frontier." I've clipped its thesis here. It is one of the most interesting and insightfully approaches to understanding the interaction between social and ideological groups. It goes well beyond the coarse but popular theories of war and mercantilism in explaining the reason for Islamic success in a part of the world that America has failed miserably at influencing.

POPSClinton Vs. Obama If either of these two win the presidency, it'll only be because of a lack of a strong Republican contender and apathy on the part of conservatives. Where is Reagan when you need him.......

POPSMonkey Sacrifice at the Ancient Peruvian Fire Temple! I must admit, I clipped this partly just so I could be the first to tag a clip with "Monkey Sacrifice." (Look it up! I'm the first!) This is a fascinating temple to me for many reasons. It shows a diversity in Pre-Columbian cultures that is often overlooked in favor of stereotypes of a few high-profile cultures (The Inca, the Maya, the Aztecs, etc.) But it also seriously shows that it is time for us to start considering whether to retire the rusty old land bridge theory. Increasingly, it seems only logical that trans-oceanic travel was not the exclusive domain of "civilized" Europeans. Nor was being "civilized" for that matter. World history is a lot more complex than our myopic record of it. Fortunately, there are still exciting archaeological finds like this one to open our eyes.

POPSWhich one is the real thing-Water,or Coke There is a bigger list of the points in favor of each on the page, but I thought some of the water ones involving dehydration, and thirst were important. For more testing on the actual behavior of coke, The TV show MythBusters, investigated coke myths, some were true others not so true. I have done a clip on them 'MythBusters central.' I thought they deserved their own clip.

POPSAnother justice system screw-up I understand aggravated kidnapping but he didn't physically hurt anyone. How does a guy get life in prison for forcing someone to drive him while another guy that has molested numerous children get away with 20 yrs.? Plus, he's not even eligible for parole for 30? That's ridiculous! How can any jury allow a man that has molested at least 40 boys the opportunity to be released from prison AGAIN? Clearly two examples of punishment not fitting the crime.
