POPS"a bitterness has infected our politics that has weakened our country..." Some excellent commentary by Joe Scarborough, including a fresh, non-partisan perspective on President Obama’s attempt to get the Olympic games in Chicago. I hope/believe that those who follow this approach to politics and partisanship will emerge as the powerful class in Congress. I fully understand that right now those who talk loudest and criticize most harshly get the spotlight. But i think most Americans are pretty tired of it and desensitized to it. It seems to me that most people are looking for leaders who will vigorously and rationally debate the issues - but do so in a way that shows that country comes before party.

POPSWe want propserity and we want it now! Come on now...isn't it a bit premature to be claiming that President Obama's decisions have not worked. And isn't it a bit absurd to be complaining because we don't have "prosperity" back. I really think this notion that prosperity is an entitlement for Americans is ludicrous. We had our prosperity and we got drunk on it...and now we're paying for it. The idea that we can just have it back seems like a load of you know what. I have no idea if Obama's economic decisions will prove to work or not...but i do know that politicians who are already ranting and raving that they "haven't worked" are doing nothing to help the country.

POPSCalifornia is another Ebay? I'm not saying that Whitman isn't qualified to be governor - i have no idea. But to say that California is another Ebay - come on.

POPSI now have foriegn experience similar to Palin's
So, in order to get a grasp of Sarah Palin’s impressive foreign policy experience, particularly her unique perspective on Russia, I decided to visit Google Images and take a look at some pictures of Russia. Incredible how seeing what a place looks like from afar can enhance your understanding of their strategic place in the world and prepare you to deal with them in international affairs. Honestly, after taking a hard look at these pictures, and realizing that Sarah Palin has actually seen Russia from miles away with her own eyes, I feel entirely confident that she has the proper experience and expertise necessary to be President. In fact, I’m thinking that Russia must be shaking in their boots at the prospects of someone with such a unique perspective on their landscape being in the White House. You know what, this has me thinking that maybe i could be President. I’ve started a business, I take my daughter to soccer practice (I guess that would make me a soccer dude) and I

POPSMcCain and Palin are soulmates! Who knew? Wow...soul mates. I mean really, they're soul mates!!?? My goodness. I suppose that when you find your soul mate, there's no need to meet more than once before deciding on your VP. Experience doesn't hold a candle being your soul mate. That's deep.

POPSPalin, aside from being a woman... Obviously a lot has been said about the fact that McCain picked a woman as his VP. That is no doubt an interesting fact that can be interpreted in a few different ways. But putting that aside, i think the facts that matter most are those in this clip. These come from a comment by debbyski and i think they represent the reasons people will or won't support her. I would certainly be shocked if anyone who voted for Hillary would support Palin based on these specific differences in beliefs and policies.

POPSHmm? No joke, if we decided to hire an intern at Clipmarks, I'd get to know them better than this before offering them the position. I just don't get how McCain didn't find a way to spend more time with her before making his decision.

POPSAin't this the truth... This is clipped from a strong piece by David Gergen, in which he argues that Obama must introduce a game changer in order to turn the momentum back his way. The two most powerful game changing events he sites are announcing either Hillary Clinton or Al Gore as VP. Either would be very smart in my opinion

POPSObama's tire pressure remark - fact vs fiction McCain has responded to Obama's suggestion that we better maintain our cars in ways that promote fuel efficiency with childish (yet somehow effective) criticism. The amazing thing these days is that facts don't seem to matter. McCain is jumping on Obama with lies and accusations that, in my opinion, discredit his own reputation for running clean, dignified campaigns.

POPSBloomberg calls for a new New Deal A great piece by Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg. I think this man is one of the country's greatest assets - i sure hope we find a way to empower him. He has, in my opinion, been a great mayor for new york city.

POPSA bad three months for Obama Though it seems likely that he'll get the nomination, democrats can not feel very good that he has lost handily to Clinton over the past 3 months.

POPSJunk about Obama from a dailykos diary Are you kidding me!? What Rev Wright has said goes way way way beyond the belief that "racism is alive and well in white middle class America." The references made by the author to Obama's "white advisors" and Obama having "become white" render this piece entirely hypocritical in my opinion. Usually i don't clip things that i find to be so stupid, but this one startled me so that i felt the need to point it out.

POPSAn important question about Obama This cuts to the heart of my concerns about Obama. In my opinion, he has not adequately justified his relationship with this man or his church. Personally, i think Obama falls well short of the standards he has set for others.

POPSClinton's top strategist steps aside Man, this is getting really sloppy. Hillary's top strategist is out working on a deal that Hillary claims to vigorously oppose. I'd have to say that it's just enough already. I think it may be time for her to accept that she has not run a consistent, solid campaign and step aside.

POPSHow to be an agent of change in politics An interesting perspective on whether one can bring about change in politics by compromising or by being tough. The entire article is pretty interesting...and, for what it's worth, pretty in line with my views on Obama and Clinton.

POPSWill Obama re-brand America? I think this is the primary reason for the massive groundswell that looks likely to land Obama in the White House. People are just so dissatisfied with the way America has behaved that we/they are committed to electing someone who is certain to, at the very least, change our perception of ourselves of and the perceptions of those around the world. Given that neither Hillary or McCain seem special enough to expect material change from, I'd say that the 'hope' in Obama is justified and worth a shot.

POPSSchwarzenegger to the rescue of homeowners I have to say, i think this guy has been an awesome governor. I love how aggressive and ballsy he is. Especially love his approach regarding the environment and alternative sources of energy. I wish he could run for president.

POPSKeith Olbermann calls out Rudy Guiliani This is one of the most powerful, passionate statements by a tv media figure that i've ever seen. Personally, i think Giulliani is a fraud. I lived in new york city during 9/11. And there is no doubt that Giulliani did a fine job maintaining calm. And i totally respected him for it. But i have not only lost that respect, i now completely disrespect him because he is so happy and proud to flaunt his leadership role that day.
