POPSMy response to McAfee about Clipmarks As most of you now know, McAfee has recently been advising people to use Clipmarks with 'extreme caution'. I wanted to share my response here. More positive reviews from our users would help tremendously. To post a review, you need to first registrater here http://bit.ly/7moCYE. I am very sorry to ask this of you.

POPSPlease help Clipmarks... As many of you may already know, Clipmarks.com was recently labeled a 'security risk' by McAfee because of recent activity by spammers on the site. We are trying very hard to control the situation and it would help tremendously if you would post a positive review of clipmarks on the source page. I would greatly appreciate your help! eric

POPSAnother nice review of Amplify We haven't been seeking out the reviews, but nice to see Amplify getting noticed. I clipped this paragraph because it speaks to one of the reasons we created Amplify as a separate service from Clipmarks. We really didn't want to disturb the user experience or community on Clipmarks.com, but we wanted a way to better support Twitter and Facebook users as well as groups. We felt the best way to do this would be to create Amplify as a separate service from Clipmarks, but giving Clipmarks users the option to sync the two.

POPS@davewiner gets it wrong on retweeting and ignores clipmarks First of all, a retweet is absolutely not the same as voting something up on Digg or Reddit. Retweeting causes something to immediately jump to the top of the feed for any user following the person who does the retweet. Digg and Reddit most certainly do not work this way. Second, this is exactly what popping a clip on clipmarks.com does...but not surprisingly, this was not mentioned. I really can't help but wonder why clipmarks.com is so often overlooked by the media as they jerk off about so-called new functionality from twitter, friendfeed and facebook. There's no doubt that those three sites have far surpassed clipmarks in regards to size. But so damn many of their features are things clipmarks introduced years ago. Another example of this is the real time FriendFeed that @scobleizer is so wowed by...clipmarks has worked that way for years, yet he acts like this is revolutionary. I don't get it.

POPSExactly why we created Clipmarks... I just read this "why i use clipmarks" testimonial and it rocked me...because this describes exactly what we hoped it would be and how we hoped it would impact people. Click the source to see who said it...

POPSClipmarks named worthy replacement for Google Notebook Love the last sentence..."Where Clipmarks trumps Google Notebook is with its sharing, by letting you publish your clipping for the entire Clipmarks community to see and comment on." That's a tip of the hat to all you clippers out there!!! Oh, and if they think Clipmarks is a worthy replacement for Google Notebook, just wait until they get a load of what we've been working on - coming soon!

POPSIs Palin confusing earmarks with clipmarks? In trying to resolve the difference between her actions and her words when it comes to earmarks, i'm thinking that she may be confusing earmarks with Clipmarks. To the best of my knowledge, Palin has never supported Clipmarks. So, maybe that's what she's referring to and the word "ear" just keeps magically replacing the "clip". Cause the facts sure seem to suggest that she supported earmarks before she decided to say she didn't.

POPSWhy I Love Clipmarks So, i didn't write this, I read it. It was posted by Clipmarks user onlinedesign in the "Why I Use Clipmarks" section of her profile. You can click the source link to visit her page. I wanted to clip this because it really moved me. It is exactly what i hope Clipmarks can provide for people. Knowing that we have accomplished this for some people gives me great pride and satisfaction. I could never adequately convey how impressed, inspired and grateful i am for the collective contributions of the people who share the content, thoughts, opinion, passion and perspective that gets mixed together here on clipmarks.com. I think it's truly remarkable.

POPSClipmarks now available for Firefox 3 Just wanted to make sure everyone knows that we released a new version of clipmarks (version 3.5) that supports the just-released Firefox3. We made some real nice improvements to the orange lines so they should more accurately outline elements on the page to clip. If you don't have the latest version of clipmarks installed, you can get it here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1407. There's a review section on that page, so if you have anything nice to say, don't hesitate :) FYI...we're getting loads of new clippers today, so if you get a chance, check out the newest clips section and welcome some new users with some pops and comments.

POPSSome updates to Clipmarks We've got a lot of great projects in the pipeline that we'll be rolling out over the next few weeks and months. We introduced some of these changes this week. If you click the source URL in this clip you'll see the blog post that outlines some of them. In addition to some new features, our work will primarily focus on accomplishing 3 things: (i) make the user interface of the site more intuitive and user friendly; (ii) strengthen the social aspects of the site (iii) make the site much faster and more reliable

POPSA new place to play on Clipmarks.com This is just step 1 of a more elaborate Dashboard concept we'll be rolling out. The first version, available for people with a My Clippers list, can be accessed from the My Clippers option in both the ClipCast View and Classic View buttons in the header. It's raw and new and will be further developed. But it's also fun so we wanted to make it live for everyone to enjoy. So, enjoy!

POPSSome more changes for Clipmarks So, last week we went live with Clipmarks 3.0; a HUGE set of new features, functionality and user interface changes. This was definitely the most challenging time we ever experienced, as it literally felt like there were a million pieces to the assemble. Overall, I feel really good about how everything went. That said, there were a few things I wish we handled better. Tonight, we’re introducing the first in a series of updates aimed at improving upon the initial release of V3.0. These are based in large part on amazing feedback we received from our users. Thank you to everyone for giving us your feedback and caring so much about Clipmarks. We’ve got a lot more coming… Clip on!

POPSThe Spread of Ideologies: ClipCast v. The Rise of Bengali Islam Although I've always enjoyed using clipmarks as a tool to research social trends and ideologies, with Clipcast, Clipmarks is rapidly becoming a subject worthy of such research itself. Consider this: The effect of making Clipmarks (and it's community of ardent followers) mobile, and capable of organizing in more than one internet context is remarkably similar to the way in which Islam spread over much of South and South Eastern Asia. For those who are interested, I heartily suggest reading Richard Eaton's "The Rise of Islam on the Bengal Frontier." I've clipped its thesis here. It is one of the most interesting and insightfully approaches to understanding the interaction between social and ideological groups. It goes well beyond the coarse but popular theories of war and mercantilism in explaining the reason for Islamic success in a part of the world that America has failed miserably at influencing.

POPSReasons to like ClipCast according to ouyangwulong... I've done a lot of writing about my perspective on ClipCast, but i just read some really insightful comments by ouyangwulong that said it better than i have been able to. Wanted to share them with everyone by clipping them. Thank you ouyangwulong. Not just for having such a positive perspective on it, but for truly tapping into and expressing the essence of what it's all about. It was truly a great feeling to read your comments. By the way, i'm eric goldstein on facebook. Would love to see the "other side" of your clips...friend me if you like :)

POPSJuliapatriciaroy gives ClipCast a glowing review Who can argue with Julia...she has to be right! :) Julia is definitely someone i have a great deal of respect for. In my mind, she's ahead of the curve when it comes to fully grasping the powerful social implications of the web. Having her think so highly of clipmarks really means a lot to us. Thanks Julia!

POPSClipmarks app for Facebook So, one of the highlights of Clipmarks 3.0 is that your clips can now live in 2 (or more) places at once. By adding the Clipmarks app for Facebook, you'll easily be able to share your clips with your friends on Facebook, and see what they're clipping. Our goal is give you the option of combining the best of both words. With great ease and simplicity, you can choose to share your experience with the clipmarks community and your Facebook friends. You can click the source link of this clip to add the app.

POPSForbes interviews EricG on Clipmarks Since nobody clipped this yet ... here's the interview with EricG @ Forbes. Eric gave the link away in arifsali's clip Welcome to ClipCast . The video itself is unclippable (!), so go to source to watch it.

POPSIs Forbes acquiring Clipmarks? VentureBeat just ran a story stating that Forbes has acquired Clipmarks. I wanted to quickly fill everyone in on what's going on. First, this article is a bit premature. We have not been acquired by Forbes. However, for the past few months we have been meeting with people at all levels of Forbes and the excitement and support they have shown for what we're creating has been very meaningful to us. As many of you have probably seen already, a number of their writers are already clipping and our technology has been integrated on forbes.com. For quite a while, we have been in talks with various parties about helping to financially support clipmarks. However, we hadn't yet found the right "partner" to help us complete this journey. A partner who fully understands our vision for making news and information more portable and interactive than ever before. Therefore, we just kept looking. Continued...

POPSWhat is Clipmarks? I just read this description of clipmarks by {{pokkets}} and literally got the chills. I believe one of the odd things about clipmarks is that it is very misunderstood by the general web population. Unfortunately, I think that is mostly a product of me being unable to properly explain it. So, when i see a description that so totally nails it, i get such a rush of excitement. Thanks {{pokkets}}!

POPSThe way it's going to be on clipmarks.com I've done a lot of talking and writing lately about the type of environment we're trying to create here on clipmarks. I hope/think that i've been very clear. I know i've given it a great deal of thought. Please click through to the source and read the entire blog post to know where i stand. I want to be 100% clear. I am going to begin disabling accounts of users who i feel consistently violate the spirit of what this is all about.

POPSA reason to use Clipmarks that I hadn't considered This is from faguogene's "Why I use Clipmarks" I would love to better understand his point of view. I have always felt that clipmarks could help people better understand each other and know more about the world. I'm wondering if this is what faguogene has in mind. We definitely need to build intra-site messaging on the site so that questions like this could be asked directly. For now, i wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone else had opinions on it.

POPSClipmarks update...introducing ClipSearch! Thank you to everyone who pushed us to get moving on this one. We're very excited about how much better the overall Clipmarks experience is with ClipSearch. Read the full blog post here . In the blog post, there is an overview of some other changes that we also made to the site.

POPSAnother great review of Clipmarks Lately, Clipmarks has been getting some great media coverage. It is really exciting to wake up, pour a cup of coffee and check out the positive mentions that seem to be sprouting up. This one is from The News & Observer, the daily newspaper in Raleigh, NC. "indespensable" "ingenious" ... i couldn't agree more :)

POPSI'm out of blog retirement Being that i spend 25 hours each day on clipmarks.com, this is where the focus of my clipping will be. But it will be interesting to see how it feels to also spread my clips and perspective outside the clipiverse and into the clip-to-blogosphere :)
