Public relations has always been about who you know, but the people on the 'who you need to know' list have changed as a result of social media - primarily twitter.
I really hope that the Iranian regime isn't allowed to restore what they deem "order" by brutalizing and intimidating their people. I'm really surprised that countries around the world have been as quiet as they have on this issue.
