Good news! There's already one out there on the launchpad who has demonstrated his qualifications. I'm talking about Keith Olbermann of MSNBC. He has the journalistic chops and the mind, heart, instincts and courage. Olbermann, who anchors a one-hour nightly news show on MSNBC called Countdown With Keith Olbermann, closes his show every night by saying "1,547th day since Mission Accomplished in Iraq," an hommage to Ted Koppel's "Iran Hostage" coverage, which evolved into Koppel's late-night ABC news show Nightline (the MSNBC show was originally Countdown: Iraq). Then Olbermann throws his crumpled script at the camera, which shatters, a simulated digital effect (something Koppel never did). More Below:

Was Dr. Ivins a "mad scientist"?
    papananook
    by papananook  8-5-2008    4
This case presents a great many mysteries which may never be solved. The most troubling revelation, however, had nothing to do with Dr. Ivins. It has come to light that the White House, in the days following the attacks, pressured the FBI to blame Al Qaeda. That is a far more scary plotline than the story of a single mad scientist.

    Suspected Anthrax Mailer Commits Suicide
    Imnclady
    by Imnclady  8-1-2008    1
Ivins' brother Tom, who stressed that had not spoken to Bruce since 1985, was not shocked to hear that his brother was accused of making death threats, and he conceded the possibility that Bruce may have been the anthrax mailer.

Lions, Tigers and Socialized Medicine... OH MY!
    thinkingblue
    by thinkingblue  8-3-2007    5
I received a response to one of my clips on BUSH'S IMMORAL PHILOSOPHY, I wanted to share the silliness of the Republican lunacy on this subject to insure every child have access to health care: The reply echoes Bush's blather on the topic by stating: "SCHIP would put children on socialized health insurance even in families making $80-$90,000 per year. This would be somwthing like 80% of all kids in the country. this is a push for fully socialized heath care." MY REPLY: Every time universal healthcare for all is mentioned... The Republicans start shouting LIONS AND TIGERS AND SOCIALIZED MEDICINE, OH MY! Our healthcare system is a sham. I don't care about Canada or Europe's socialized medicine fiascos... I just know our corporate hold on healthcare, does not work for the majority of us. The rich, have no problems, because when they need to tell a doctor to jump... he/she replies HOW HIGH! Stay with the fear mongers if you wish but if you want enlightenment read the article above!

    Apparent Suicide In Anthrax Case
    merrie
    by merrie  8-1-2008
Bruce E. Ivins, a scientist who helped the FBI investigate the 2001 mail attacks, was about to face charges. The death -- without any mention of suicide -- was announced to Ivins' colleagues at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, or USAMRIID, through a staffwide e-mail. The anthrax mailings killed five people, crippled national mail service, shut down a Senate office building and spread fear of further terrorism after the Sept. 11 attacks. The extraordinary turn of events followed the government's payment in June of a settlement valued at $5.82 million to a former government scientist, Steven J. Hatfill, who was long targeted as the FBI's chief suspect despite a lack of any evidence that he had ever possessed anthrax. Ivins, employed as a civilian at Ft. Detrick, earlier had attracted the attention of Army officials because of anthrax contaminations that Ivins failed to report for five months.

FBI Offered $2.5MM and Sports Car to Ivin's Son in Anthrax Case
    blueridge
    by blueridge  8-6-2008    1
$2.5 million and "sports car of choice". Bribery by the FBI, blatant corruption called instead "aggressive tactics" in the news headline. Would that have impacted the content of his testimony too? Correct me if wrong but if someone is witness to an alleged crime, subpoenas are used to legally force them to testify. They were trying to get evidence for a grand jury, but still I think it applies. This was outside the normal legal means, a clear mark of desperation and even attempting to fix the case, perhaps even create false testimony through bribery. This appears to be an attempt at Top-Down conspiracy to frame Ivins for the Anthrax case , and after paying Hatfill $5 million in a settlement (hush money) where they admitted no wrong doing. The FBI should be investigated for this, they are not above the law!

I loved Molly, and I will miss her greatly. Tributes are pouring into the media of all kinds, and every word, whether spoken, printed or heard is absolutely necessary. Her words brought us great insight, humour, understanding and courage. She deserves as many words of praises and appreciation as she wrote for us.
