POPSGlad I'm Not Republican In a mere 6 yrs. (although it no doubt started earlier) the Repubs have been co-opted by the neo-con warmongering corporatists...it's a shameful chapter in Amurrikan politics.

POPSWhen the Penny Drops. A personal attack? Guess who? Oh, and god speaks to him! There's not many with that condition still free, are there?

POPSBush admin considering allying with Iraqi Shiites Laura Rozen reports on a secret mission where Stephen Hadley advocated the US drop its posture as a "neutral referee" in the Iraqi civil war and align with the Shiites to crush Sunni insurgents. This strikes me as a very, very bad idea. Via Kevin Drum

POPS111 Nations Ban Cluster Bombs; US Not Among Them The piece goes on: "The country that thinks of using cluster munitions next week should think twice, because it would look very bad," said Espen Barth Eide, Deputy Defense Minister of Norway, which began the negotiations last year and will host a treaty-signing ceremony Dec. 3. "We're certain that nations thinking of using cluster munitions won't want to face the international condemnation that will rain down upon them, because the weapons have been stigmatized now," said Steve Goose, arms control director of New York-based Human Rights Watch, who was involved in the talks. Maybe the next US admin. will be moved by this, but not Bush. Can't shame the shameless.

POPSWhite House Ignored Detainee Innocence As far as I can figure out, this is the Bush admin. worrying that it might be embarrassed by the ham-handedness of their wide net approach to collecting detainees. Instead of admitting that they may have gone a little overboard, they kept innocent people in prison. This creates a new class of political prisoner -- the inconvenient and unrectified mistake.

POPSYoutube Users and Viewers BEWARE!
Now every minute you Spend on youtube, you will be feeding the Big Brother machine the Bush admin. has robustly doctored until BB became a strong, very potent bouncing baby for the neocon belief system. Their rule-of-thumb on freedom is "We Will Tell Them They Are Free... FREE TO DO WHAT THEY ARE TOLD TO DO OR ELSE"! All their doings has been leading up to this day... The beginning of the end of Lincoln's eloquent words used during his Gettysburg Address that afternoon of Thurs., November 19, 1863 "government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." In just over two minutes, Lincoln enforced the principles of human equality supported by the Declaration of Independence and redefined the Civil War as a struggle not merely for the Union, but as "a new birth of freedom" Hmmm, I wonder what President Lincoln would say about all the shredding of same Declaration by 8 years of Neocon Rule. I'm sure he would be deeply saddened, for sure.

POPSUS General Accuses Bush Admin of War Crimes 2-Star Army General indicts about Abu Ghraib that the White House "authorized" it: the Commander-in-Chief and those under him authorized a systematic regime of torture. Alot of things have come down on the Bush administration in the last month, i.e. McClellan's book, Bugliosi's book, now this.

POPSBush admin: Even their cover story gets them into trouble The Justice Dept fired US Attorney David Iglesias because he did not indict enough Democrats. However, the Justice Department did want to own up to this naked partisan motivation, so it made up a cover story about Iglesias being an "absentee landlord". The problem: Iglesias left the office 45 days a year because he is in the Navy Reserve. It is illegal for employers to discriminate against members of the US military. As Josh Marshall says, "Boy, you know it's bad for the Justice Department when even their cover stories lead to investigations."

POPSTurkish Parliament approves Iraq offensive The vote was 507-19 They stressed the offensive against the PKK or Kurdish resistance, would not start immediately, and would proceed over a one year time period. President Bush said ":We don't think it's in their interests to send more troops in" Turkey already has troops stationed in Iraq. Oh yeah, their country is just a few miles north of the Real terrorism. So now he runs Turkey, but beside that, with all of the statistics and calls for help the U.S. Admin has issued with regard to help with the war in Iraq, the Turkish Govt's aim seems the same as the Iraqi's, to "Halt the terrorist activities of the PKK in Iraq," I don't know why the Turkish action won't achieve the same as that of the US. Perhaps the type help requested by the US is too specific. Bush wants WASPs (White Anglo Saxon Protestants), with a few notable Minority figures in charge.

POPSRon Suskind vs. Bush Admin on Iraq-9/11 Fakery
Suskind's book has provided documentation of evidence and inside witnesses within the CIA and British Intelligence sources that a fake letter was ordered "from the White House" pretending to be from Saddam's Intelligence Chief to Saddam (whom the U.S. relocated and paid $5 million to) which was laden with lies and a claim of ties between Mohammad Atta (supposed 9/11 ringleader), Al Qaeda, and Iraq--back-dated prior to 9/11--which provided deliberately false claims to connect Iraq to 9/11. The White House has denied (see previous clipmark) but award-winning journalist Suskind summarizes his sources and defends his allegations on Democracy Now (see first podcast "listen" link). The second podcast, Aug. 14, includes House Judiciary Chair John Conyers who has already started an investigation under way which will lead to some kind of action. Conyer's stated the the Senate Intelligence Committee, headed by Jay Rockefeller, has the power to review classified documents to verify this.

POPSRove in Contempt You've got to wonder what this could mean for McCain's campaign . The last thing Baghdad Johnny needs is a very public example of how he's joined at the hip to the Bush admin. through McCain adviser Rove -- especially in the context of how crooked they all are.
