    Emperor Obama and the Mob

    by dl211  Today 12:39 AM
Enter the mob. A Rassmussen poll now says 58% of those interviewed want Abdulmutallab waterboarded. Only 30% of respondents opposed waterboarding, and 12% can't make up their minds. Fully 71% of respondents want Abdulmutallab's case handled by the military as a terrorist act, not by civilian authorities. Hey, Obama might be entitled to ask, did everybody just forget about Khalid Sheik Mohammed? He actually killed nearly three thousand Americans! This poor isolated Nigerian burned a Dutchman's hand. What's a king -- I mean God -- to do?

Ronald Reagan was right when he said that "America is a nation that has a government - not the other way around." Apparently Mr. Obama somehow rationalizes that it works for him the polar opposite, in other words, "I the president have a nation-and I the president have a government." President Reagan also said, "Government is not the solution-it's the problem." And here's where the country gets into trouble, by allowing the president, and the government to assume complete control over the American people.

According to Reuters, “the administration was looking at setting up a special purpose vehicle to be a conduit for money…that would get around restrictions on executive bank pay.” There’s an irony here. Didn’t “special purpose vehicles” help carry us into this credit crisis to begin with? (Answer: They did! And into the Enron debacle, too.) Besides, isn’t it unseemly for the executive to skulk around the intent of a duly passed law? If the law is flawed, shouldn’t the administration persuade Congress to change it?

And I’d add, as Mr. Obama destroys our economic freedom and prosperity, we will be heading toward the day when we cannot afford or maintain our national security and military systems that keep us safe. Then, on our foreign policy plight under Mr. Obama, Mr. Podhoretz writes, “In global affairs, will the United States sit mute and inactive as the world’s most dangerous regimes acquire the world’s most dangerous weapons – or will we muster the will to prevent them from doing so? Will we continue to apologize for being the greatest, the noblest, the freest, and the most selfless nation in the history of the world – or will we find the strength, yet again, to resist the temptation to blame ourselves for the slings and arrows hurled at us by those who wish us ill?”

The risible projection of Obama as a commanding military leader, while attractive to the sycophantic, navel-gazing press, contrasted mightily with his simultaneously fawned-over persona of a pensive, cerebral man of the world. It is mighty hard to imagine George S. Patton hemming and hawing as if he were lecturing at an academic symposium before issuing his decision to make a decision to increase troops and "finish the job." Further muddying the waters is Obama's self-serving pronouncement that the military strategy in Afghanistan under Bush lacked clear vision, sufficient manpower, ample resources, and was carried out "with not enough urgency." This would be more apt criticism if it were not issued by a president ostensibly gauging the number of troops to be sent based on polling rather than in accordance with the requests for additional troops from top commander in Afghanistan General Stanley McChrystal.

However, don’t take my word for it, listen to the analysis of diplomatic etiquette expert Lyudmila Bloch: “When President Obama recently greeted Japanese Emperor Akihito with a deep bow (at almost 90 degrees), and a handshake at the same time, those gestures were over the top and spoke loudly of diplomatic inexperience and poor briefing by his aides.” “Two individuals of equal rank greet each other in the same way. Did you see the Emperor bowing from his waist down and stretching to reach Obama’s hand? No. The keywords are appropriate and subtle. The bow must demonstrate a delicate balance between respect, proper protocol, and appreciation for the Japanese tradition concerning age and rank.” “Submissive, excessive, emotional, or dramatic gestures like President Obama’s may be interpreted as naïve,

Thus, by virtue of his election to the presidency nearly one year ago, he believes he has the authority to establish a new paradigm to "fundamentally transform" our nation by creating "a new foundation." However, if we are a nation of laws with a national government limited by our Constitution, and, indeed, we are, then Obama has no legal authority to "transform" our government. Those who laid our constitutional foundation were very clear about its limits on government. Our Constitution's principle author, James Madison, wrote, "The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation and foreign commerce."

Obama’s defenders characterize the above charges as mere “guilt by association.” They contend that his connections with known Marxists do not necessarily imply that he shares their views. They claim we can draw no legitimate conclusions about Obama’s own beliefs from the above facts concerning his associations. In so doing, they are in effect charging his detractors with committing a reasoning error logicians call a “Circumstantial Ad Hominem Argument.” They thus gainsay his opponents’ claims that because of his own special circumstances—in this case that Obama has had ongoing relationships with many known Marxists—he must share certain specific views (namely, Marxist). They argue that these relationships are, in fact, utterly irrelevant to his actual beliefs and should not be cited as evidence of them.

Emanuel writes about rationing health care for older Americans that "allocation (of medical care) by age is not invidious discrimination." (The Lancet, January 2009) He calls this form of rationing — which is fundamental to Obamacare goals — "the complete lives system." You see, at 65 or older, you've had more life years than a 25-year-old. As such, the latter can be more deserving of cost-efficient health care than older folks. **Our government will undertake, he says, a "very difficult democratic conversation" about how "the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80 percent of the total health care" costs.** - 'Obama'.

More than one-third of all surveyed say they expect their taxes to be "a lot higher'' – despite the president's assertion that 95 percent of all Americans are getting tax relief under his economic stimulus program and health-care plans for the future. "Most Americans remain skeptical that the administration can pay for healthcare reform and its other programs without raising their taxes,'' Gallup's Jeffrey Jones reports today. Higher taxes are on the way. You can not pay for all the projects Obama is trying to implement without incurring massive debt. Simply printing more ‘useless’ money is not the answer, that will only result in the devaluation of the dollar until it becomes worthless. However do not hold your breath expecting old honest Abe (Obama) to tell you the truth - why would he start now.

A ''War room" was set up to meet the challenge that could destroy the Obama presidency. Speaker Pelosi was quoted as saying, "Living to be 78 is un-American! Old people are doing this because they are racists who hate our black president!" Harry Reid was a tad more optimistic when he said, "This war is NOT lost. America needs a surge in the mortality rate among people aged 55-78, and we intend to implement such a surge in bill 3200." President Obama was shooting hoops and not available for comment.

Control-freaks: It Must Be in Their Genes
    dl211
    by dl211  8-11-2009    2
At the heart of Obama's action plan to deal with every problem is the principle of government control over individual action. Consider the first problem: the economy. Obama's first action was to infuse failing financial institutions with borrowed money, with government strings attached. In exchange for the money, government gained veto power over the management of private corporations. Had the people in power not been infected with the "control" gene, financial institutions that had made bad business decisions would have paid the consequences, and the self-correcting free-market financial system would, ultimately, have been stronger. But alas, the poisoned tentacles of government now permeate the financial system.

The usual six honeymoon months have elapsed, and the country is nearly through rejoicing at the consolation that they have a president whom foreigners are unlikely to throw shoes at, and who speaks in sentences. But his own Environmental Protection Agency director acknowledges that his cap-and-trade bill will have no effect on the climate, and it will neither raise revenue nor reduce carbon use. It must be replaced with a straight carbon tax of bearable impact coupled with sensible conservation, and alternate-energy-source and oil-exploration incentives. The bill that limped through the House of Representatives was a Rube Goldberg contraption of Al Gore myths and Congressional vote-buying boondoggles. Its adoption would be a disaster. The president’s claim of putting millions of Americans to work making wind-mills and solar panels is a fable that extends the frontiers of quixotry.

Perhaps most troubling for Obama may be where he is losing ground. His approval rating was down 9 points among Americans overall but 20 percent among independents. Similarly, the increase in those who think the country is headed in the wrong direction came mostly from independents and Democrats. Dissatisfaction among independents grew disproportionately on Obama's handling of a range of issues, including the economy, taxes, unemployment, the environment and more. Independents are "the ones to watch," according to Professor Robert Shapiro, a Columbia University expert on public opinion. "The Republicans were more pessimistic from the outset. The Democrats are going to be more resistant to negative information."

     3. The Private Sector. Nationalizing much of the auto and financial industries, while regulating executive compensation, is an indication of our new government's repeatedly stated reluctance to interfere in the private sector. 4. Race and Gender. Not what is said but who says it and about whom reveals racism and sexism. For example, an Hispanic female judge isn't being offensive if she states that Latinas are inherently better judges than white males. 5. Random violence. Some assassinations represent larger American pathologies, but others do not. When a crazed lone gunman murders someone outside the Holocaust Museum or shoots an abortion doctor, we should worry about growing right-wing and Christian extremism. But when an African-American Muslim convert brags about his murder of a military recruitment officer or an Islamic group plots to kill Jews and blow up a military jet, these are largely isolated incidents without larger relevance.
