Will GOP Call to Repeal Health Care Bill?
    dl211
    by dl211  12-30-2009    1
Repealing the health care bill, however, would take more than winning back a few congressional seats. Just as the Republican minority in the Senate has stalled the current health care debate, a Democratic minority could do the same to any repeal measure unless Republicans were able to pull together at least a 60-vote majority. The GOP would also have to overcome the strong majority Democrats now have in the House. Even if they were to win both chambers back, President Obama could veto any repeal measure at least through 2012. "Anyone who thinks they'll be able to repeal ObamaCare is kidding themselves," Michael Cannon, director of health policy studies at the libertarian Cato Institute, told the Washington Independent. "If they want to stop it, they need to stop it now."

Note that the subsection at issue here concerns the regulatory power of the Independent Medicare Independent Advisory Board to "reduce the per capita rate of growth in Medicare spending." That is precisely the kind of open-ended grant of regulatory power that effectively establishes the IMAB as the ultimate arbiter of the cost, quality and quantity of health care to be made available to the American people. And Reid wants the decisions of this group of unelected federal bureaucrats to be untouchable for all time.

Then, on our foreign policy plight under Mr. Obama, Mr. Podhoretz writes, “In global affairs, will the United States sit mute and inactive as the world’s most dangerous regimes acquire the world’s most dangerous weapons – or will we muster the will to prevent them from doing so? Will we continue to apologize for being the greatest, the noblest, the freest, and the most selfless nation in the history of the world – or will we find the strength, yet again, to resist the temptation to blame ourselves for the slings and arrows hurled at us by those who wish us ill?”

Representatives Wolf and Smith have sent numerous requests to Holder asking for documentation of his Black Panther dismissal. Rep. Jennifer Rubin's latest Weekly Standard report details the US Civil Rights Commission investigation into the Black Panther dismissal. Yup. You guessed it. No response from Holder or the DOJ. Finally, the White House czars have been reported in the alternative media, and given the obligatory nod in the msm. How the hell can a taxpayer supported organization be so openly politically biased and continue to hold a tax exempt status? How can the so-called media be so blinded to avoid reporting on it? Because...They have bought themselves a privileged position with the Democrats and this administration. They have nothing to fear. Because the WH and Congress are just as crooked as ACORN. Obama's administration is about as transparent as a blind man strolling on a moonless night without a cane or dog. It's enough to make an honest person want to revolt, or puke, or both.

Truth About the Health Care Bills

    by dl211  9-30-2009    5
...That is one of the reasons for adopting the Bill of Rights. They were to limit what Congress could do under that clause. Now liberals are saying that the welfare clause takes precedence over the very amendments that limit it and it can be used to reduce rights under the amendments like the health care bills would do to the 9th and 10th Amendments, among others. This means that Congress can do anything it wants by claiming it is for "the general welfare"; they could re-institute slavery, abolish freedom of speech entirely, or take away a woman's right to vote.

"There's nothing more American than letting your elected representatives know how you feel about important issues facing the nation." House Republican Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, released a statement calling the charge "outrageous and reprehensible." Pelosi and Hoyer made the accusation as part of a lengthy column in USA Today stressing the need for action on health care reform. The piece was published as lawmakers return to their districts for summer recess, a period that could imperil the legislation if health care critics cause moderate Democrats to lose their stomachs for sweeping reform.

Therefore, if these schemes are not authorized by our Constitution, then we have an outlaw government, and if we have an outlaw government, then by what authority does that government assess and collect taxes? Our Constitution does authorize Congress to enact -- defense appropriations. The Senate version of the NDAA (S.1390) with its 216 amendments is now being debated. One of those amendments, a liberal effort to expand so-called "hate crimes" legislation, resulted in heated discourse on the Senate floor, including this scolding by John McCain (R-AZ) toward Harry Reid (D-NV): "The majority leader has made it clear that their highest priority ... is a hate crimes bill that has nothing to do whatsoever with defending this na

Calls for full audit of the Federal Reserve - Ignored

That's because there has been a silent coup in America – with the Federal Reserve, a tool of the rich and powerful international bankers, used to usurp the power of the people. Now is the time to challenge Congress to reclaim its constitutional authority – and a good first step is Rep. Paul's demand for an audit of the Fed. Does Congress have the courage to take on the powerful money masters? Are members of Congress merely puppets on a string? Will they be content to do as they are told by the bankers, who get richer when times are good and richer when times are bad and who control the money supply and the value of the dollar according to their own needs and desires? It's time to find out. Some say the transfer of power is complete and there is no going back to constitutional government under the rule of law and the will of the people.

The interlocking financial connections between ACORN and its affiliate organizations are ripe with waste, fraud and abuse, yet ACORN has never been investigated because it is protected by its cronies in Congress.      When the TARP intervention was first outlined by the Bush administration, it did not call for any transfer of stock, of any sort, to the government. The Democrats demanded, as a price for their support, that the taxpayers “get something back” for the money they were lending to the banks. House Republicans, wise to what was going on, rejected the administration proposal and sought, instead, to provide insurance to banks rather than outright cash. Their plan would, of course, not involve any transfer of stock. But U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., undercut his own party’s conservatives and went along with the Democratic plan, assuring its passage.

No, the more damning case is that the Senate Banking Committee was basically non-functional in the early part of the crisis, because Dodd was running for president. Even if early action could have saved us money and pain later--and that's a big if--I recently heard a plausible case made that such action was made impossible by his presidential campaign. But somehow, no one finds that offensive, or even notable.

These raucous dinners and big expense-account tabs should be vetted for ethics violations. Of course, it didn’t stop with steaks and fine wines. PMA funneled more than $40 million in donations to members of Congress since 1998, including $2.4 million to Mr. Murtha and $7.8 million to members of his committee. Congress, in turn, rewarded PMA clients with rarely debated earmarks. Last year, the firm was able to marshal more than 100 lawmakers to earmark $300 million in contracts for the lobbyist’s clients.
