POPSSubmarine turned into a home theater.. Someday I'm going to have a home theater but I can only dream of ever having one this cool. It's nice to see an artistic touch put into one of these since most are designed to be perfect listening rooms which usually means very boring...

POPSGuitar hero played with soccer/foot balls... This is awesome. The technology behind it is pretty simple, and the ability to hit the spots is quite simple for the people doing it (they are serious pro's) but the idea of it all together is really quite genius IMO.

POPSCell phone orchestra... Absolutely Amazing! This is an unbelievable feet of cell phone technology. They had to film it at off hours due to the insane text's per second throughput they were attempting. Please go to the source and check out the video on the making of the commercial. This is real and done with real text messages.

POPSJameco managers take paycuts so they don't have to layoff anyone. If we had more company's like this, the whole country would be in better shape. Obviously we'd still have problems but even if it cut the rise in unemployment by a small amount, it would make a big difference. Anyway, my hats off to these guys! I will definitely be buying my components from them in the future.

POPSUnbelievable projection mapping video! It's very long and slightly redundant in spots but well worth watching the whole thing. Few things amaze me quite like projection mapping and this is an amazing example it.

POPSCybraphon - An emotional autonomous band! First I have to say that I really love the sound of mechanical bands such as this so that does way on my feelings about it. That said, it's not the best sounding I've heard but it has to be the best implementation I've seen yet. I love the fact that it's mood is affected by things such as it's friend count on myspace and the number of results on google about it. In fact, me posting this will put it in a better mood and therefore it will play more upbeat music! Sounds like a lot of people I know who's moods are way to affected by there online "status".

POPSDid you know processors start from sand? I must admit I never thought about it before seeing this. Also, I highly recommend going to the source and checking out the full picture story. It is a very cool step by step of the making of a processor.

POPSKey-Ring... A key and key ring in one! Talk about a "Why didn't I think of that" moment... So simple and yet so obvious! Oh well, maybe one day I will have created the thing that causes people to say "Why didn't I think of that".

POPS Very cool interactive LED wall! This has to be one of the best i've seen of this type of technology. Most of the time they are limited to 1 or maybe 2 effects. This one has many many effects. The best part is that it not only tracks motion but also distance from the wall. Very very nicely done!

POPS15 ton grapple controlled by a Wiimote... I think the only thing left to be controlled by a Wiimote is surgery on humans! Seriously, this is both completely insanely nuts for safety reasons but also the coolest damn thing ever. I'd hate to pay the bill when they drop the Wiimote and the grapples collide with each other!

POPSSuper Mario controled with a Theremin! I've been debating for several months now on wether to attempt to make a theremin or buy a cheapo but this confirms that no matter what, I MUST have one! I've been seeing more and more really cool projects done with these things and though I don't have time to do any of them, I just have to try playing music on one, not to mention it could keep the kids busy for hours. Anyway, back to the point, any excuse to play super mario again is a good excuse in my book!!

POPSHomemade pinball machine from scrap wood... Add an arduino to this thing with a few buttons and bump sensors and you could have a fully functional score keeping pinball machine for less than a $100! I love how he made the paddles, again so simple yet genius! I'm also thinking this would be a great project for my cub scout den to do as one of there last projects before moving on to boy scouts.

POPSTouchpad with video.. Dare I say "It's about time!" Considering how long the Nintendo DS has been around and how unbelievable successful it's been, it really surprises me that we haven't seen this for computers already! It seems like such an obvious advancement and for me it would finally make the touchpad usefull since I despise them at present. I for one can't stand touchpads and won't purchase a laptop unless it has a touchpoint which really limits my options... This may change my oppinion of them. Check the source for a video.

POPSThe sink faucet for geeks.... Is nothing sacred anymore? My first response to this was, "you've got to be kidding me, how pointless"... But then the more I thought about it, the more I thought it was quite genius! If you think about it, most people spend a decent amount of time in front of their faucet throughout the day. Wether brushing your teeth, shaving or washing your hands you can now check email or the weather while doing any of those without bringing your laptop with. Now if they could just make it know when I want to brush my teeth vs wash my hands so I never have to adjust the temperature at all! Check out the source for a vid, though it's not english you still get to see it in action.

POPSSpeak n' Spellbinder... Will the speak n' spell ever see it's end? Man do I wish I still had mine from when I was a kid! I still can't get over how popular these things still are... If you search ebay for them you will find tons of original along with tons of pre-bent ones if you want one that has all the work done for you. Personally, this is another item on my ever growing list of things I will modify some day.

POPSCommodore 64 laptop... Not coming to a store near you. I'm so jealous of the people that have time to do this stuff... I can't begin to imagine how much fun it would be to build something like this. And even more fun would be the reaction you get from people when you show it off. This really brings back some memories for me. I never had a c64 myself but several of my friends did and I remember being in awe over them... I would really love to get my hands on one now!

POPSSo geeky, so creepy... I have to have one! This is so awesome. Though I don't think the segway has to be worried, this could prove to be very usefull in robotics or any type of machine that needs to be able to travel while keeping it's cargo perfectly still at all times. Obviously they have a ways to go before it can keep stuff perfectly still, but if you look at the passenger platform while it moves, it's pretty damn still... Anyway, I want one!!!
