Sunni and Shi'ite are the two major factions in Iraq with Sunni's being the majority. Contrary to most, Sunni and Shi'ite violence and struggles have only been present since the end of WWI and the abolishiment of the caliph. Not for 1000's of years as many believe. Unfortunately, most recently, the occupation of Iraq by U.S. forces has released a ferocity of fighting between the factions like never before seen in it's history.

POPSThe Top Dozen Religions of the World I'm amazed that a large portion of the world is Islam. Obviously, there may be drastic implications of a global, Islamic Jihad, which is why peace must be fostered among ALL religions. Unfortunately, Islamic extremists believe our occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan is a threat/war against Islam. America, on the other hand, can't even agree on what the fuck the meaning behind our occupation is.
