About me
Clips can be informative, thought provoking, a way to learn and grow, entertaining, humorous, or just plain fun.

It is important to me to keep my comment area safe from personal attacks and/or troll like behavior--comments like those will be removed and the clippers who choose to engage in those sort of behaviors will be blocked from commenting.

Anyone interested in meaningful discussion on a variety of topics is free to join in.

" If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."

As I was sitting in my chair,
I knew the bottom wasn't there,
Nor legs nor back, but I just sat,
Ignoring little things like that.

Racist Worshipers Demand Their Fix

How utterly disturbing the image was and anyone who would label it controlling and censoring to take that image down must be mentally challenged to not be able to understand how it may feel to be part of a race that has been historically compared to monkeys by RACISTS. But that doesn't surprise me because that would require thought, empathy, and compassion for someone else instead of his Lily-white wanna-be-rich ass.

Their Goals

Where in the HELL was the outrage of these IDIOTS when George W. Bush dragged the rest of the country--not so much kicking and screaming--as shocked and awed into a mountain of federal debt and it's failure to respond to the worst natural disaster in US history???? I'll tell ya where--right there behind him every step of the way supporting his RICH lode of corruption, contempt for law, reckless disregard for national security, blundering of foreign policy, SLEAZE, and stupidity. Not to mention their savagery toward any critic and ferocious partisanship. Our short national attention span is their best friend. Well, guess what? I didn't buy what they were selling the first time and I don't feel sorry for the poor demented souls who spent their cash making Sarah smile.

"Some upend expectations. Susan Boyle, the singing-contest Cinderella whose debut album will be released this week, is the prime example. The stout, double-chinned, middle-age singer is the kind of woman who should have only personality going for her. When she opened up her mouth on "Britain's Got Talent" to reveal a voice brimming with a golden glow, people's bewilderment soon gave way to delight, not because she seemed to have worked hard to become so good, but because she didn't: Boyle was a natural beauty in disguise."

by debbyski  11-21-2009    8

An American Catastrophe
debbyski
by debbyski  11-21-2009    2
"Detroit and its environs are suffering the agonies of the economic damned because of policies, crafted at the highest national and corporate levels, that resulted in the implosion of crucially important components of America’s manufacturing base. Those decisions have had a profound effect on the fortunes not just of Detroit, or even Michigan, but the entire U.S. economy." I can't believe some of the words I read from another clipper describing hard working union members as incompetent and drunks. It's attitudes like his that have absolutely no compassion for loss of good paying jobs, the base of the middle class, and worker's rights to share some of the profits they helped create. It's small, petty, greedy, and jealous thinking with a superior ass attitude that the working man/woman doesn't deserve as good as himself.

Gratitude's Grace
debbyski
by debbyski  11-18-2009    3
“Gratitude arises from a specific circumstance — being given a gift or done a favor — but depends less upon that,” Ms. Visser writes, “than on the receiver’s whole life, her character, upbringing, maturity, experience, relationships with others, and also on her ideals, including her idea of the sort of person she is or would like to be.” The next time you read a comment that is so lacking in compassion for members of our society remember that gratitude requires compassion and stirs us to fill the societal cracks people fall through by thanking others through our actions as a society.

The Human Element
debbyski
by debbyski  11-18-2009    1
I've known many sportsmen/women who love nature and hunting. Their efforts actually strengthen the deer herd by keeping the buck/doe ratio in check, keeping the deer population from being over bred and diseased, supplemental feeding of the right vitamins and minerals throughout the year, etc. I've picked up countless deer antlers in the woods and used them for all kinds of projects. The vile people who spot-light or run these animals on ATV for antlers or whatever make me ill. I'm an owner of a ATV and I ride it on my property ONLY. Anything else is disrespectful of other's and it affects those people who are responsible. Is there a solution to some who will break the law for material gain? It's the human element I suppose. One I abhor.

Dr. King's Prophetic Condemnation Of The Church
debbyski
by debbyski  11-17-2009    4
The next time you see so called "Christians" who claim to love Jesus try to play God by saying some people are better than others, then remember Dr. King's words: "Some have been dismissed from their churches, have lost the support of their bishops and fellow ministers. But they have acted in the faith that right defeated is stronger than evil triumphant. Their witness has been the spiritual salt that has preserved the true meaning of the gospel in these troubled times. They have carved a tunnel of hope through the dark mountain of disappointment.”

A Real Bawlfest For Our Country
debbyski
by debbyski  11-16-2009    4
Was George W. Bush's presidency one of the worst in U.S. history? You hear the question asked and you have to say to yourself that Bush's attacks on civil liberties and privacy, on government accountability, on the middle class and the poor, on FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY, on a country that hadn't attacked and didn't threaten us, on truth itself--have created this mess we are currently in--one that will take years to correct. Yet some poor deluded souls in "all their bliss" still look to George W. Bush as someone who had good personal intentions instead of realizing he was quite possibly one of the most incompetent Presidents in the history of our nation. Here is a big thank you--for professing to care so much about our servicemen and women in Iraq by failing to supply sufficient body armor and betraying veterans by cutting health benefits. It's a crying shame; for sure.

One Reason Not To Spend 10 Minutes and 35 Seconds With John Piper
debbyski
by debbyski  11-16-2009    5
He gets a "A" for his efforts at fear mongering. "As the church continues to debate the issue of homosexuality, we find ourselves facing another culture of fear. Many in the church fear those who are other, who are different, and are able to find ways to manipulate scripture to support this fear. And it certainly doesn’t help when extremely influential Christian leaders like John Piper make absolutely ridiculous statements about the connection between a freak tornado and an ELCA meeting. I have to wonder if even John Piper really believes what he has written – or whether this is a convenient way to support the discrimination and hate of the LGBT community. This is conspiratorial bunk that uses the bible as a weapon of ideology, not a source to find God's grace."

Poor Sarah Palin elects to portray herself as a victim again and again as she laughs all the way to the bank. I don't know who is more pathetic--the idiots who pre-ordered this trash or Ms. Palin.

"Tererai’s husband eventually agreed that she could take the children to America — as long as he went too. An impossible dream had come true, but it soon looked like a nightmare. Tererai and her family had little money and lived in a ramshackle trailer, shivering and hungry. Her husband refused to do any housework — he was a man! — and coped by beating her. Tererai found herself eating from trash cans, and she thought about quitting — but felt that doing so would let down other African women. At one point the university tried to expel Tererai for falling behind on tuition payments. A university official, Ron Beer, intervened on her behalf and rallied the faculty and community behind her with donations and support."

"As long as you need acceptance from people, they will continue to disappoint you." How many times have we, as unique human individuals, tried to fit into some sort of mold that society would demand of us? Can anyone remember feeling weird or gangly or shy or not athletic enough or clumsy or, or, or? Some people lose that unique part of themselves on the road to conformity. Others, hide that difference on the inside. We, as a society, need to grow up and recognize the differences in all of us.

If you want us to buy, then have enough informed sales people to help us and get us through the lines quicker! "It's not rocket science. To make customers happy, all you need to do is offer high-quality goods at competitive prices and staff your stores with a sufficient number of well-trained personnel to ensure a smooth shopping experience."
