Inspired from another clip by dakotayii. Link below. First of all, I'd like to say there are many good Christian men who treat their wives kindly and as equals, and this clip does not speak to them, rather the abuser who uses his abuse and control of women in his mind by religious justification.

I think it's what can happen when some men use religion as their justification for the domination and control of women. If only they knew that you cannot control love . . . it is only valuable when given freely. Of course the person who treats his wife in this manner only lusts after power as opposed to love.

When we look at the Bible -- God's Word -- God seems to have a major problem with women.
God treats women quite differently than he treats men. For example, we find this in 1 Corinthians chapter 14:
As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church
There are many places in the Bible where God talks about women. This quote from 1 Corinthians 11, for example, is odd:
But I want you to understand that the head of every man ...

This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your descendants after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised. You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you.
God makes no mention of forming any sort of covenant with women.
In Matthew 25:1 Jesus says: "At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom."
In John 20:17 Jesus says to Mary: "Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father," as though the touch of a woman is somehow improper, but a few verses later, is happy to have Thomas touch him.

Some religious conservatives haven't made much progress since the Biblical quotes you provided Laceym, in either their understanding of sex or their respect for women. They are still ruled by the spirit, if not the letter of St.Paul, who insists that women are second class-citizens.
As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak but must be in submission, as the Law says. hmmmm religion in general hates women i wont lie about it!

but then again wasn't it man who made religion, laws, wars, pacts etc?

some men of religious power hate women why because religion give the that power to discriminate and then again these religions were made during a time where women didn't have a say in anything?

my understanding is to be religious is to be blind and tainted by the past discrimination and even foreign ethics .....its better to be a person of faith then of religion where following biased and ludicrous laws and even tainted text not created by god doesn't f wit head

The Pauline clip mentioned above is a distinct minority in Scripture, apparently needed for some cultural reason in a single place. If it is so important, why is it not mentioned in letters to churches of any other location?
By contrast, elsewhere he writes "there is no more male or female." In Acts 2, Peter says the day has come in which young and old, male and female will prophesy (and prophecy in this context is about preaching.) Throughout Acts, women teach and lead. Paul will later refer to some as apostle.
Jesus is radically more pro-women than almost anyone of his era. He speaks directly with women when no one else does, he constantly uses women as examples of wisdom in his para...

On the etymology issue, female has as much to do with male as history has to do with his, but woman does literally mean "wife of man."

From http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=female#sharethis;

female (n.)
c.1315, from O.Fr. femelle, from M.L. femella "a female," from L. femella "young female, girl," dim. of femina "woman" (see feminine). Sense extended in V.L. from humans to female of other animals. Spelling alt. late 14c. on mistaken parallel of male. Reference to sockets, etc., is from 1669.

I think this clip does something of a disservice by implying that this
behavior is exclusive to Christian men. This is how abusive men of all
cultures and faiths act. The clip and article describe a subset of
abusive men who attend (presumably very conservative, evangelical)
church regularly and use a selective interpretation of the Bible to
justify their behavior.
Precicesly my point Kelvin! This clip was inspired by another clip which pointed out how those of different faiths will sometimes use religion to justify abuse of women. One needs to speak to to the problems in the church, not hide behind or ignore them, as the Catholic church so often did in it's abuse issues.

Marriage Actually

"In order to determine which level of judicial scrutiny to apply to Connecticut's civil unions law, the justices first had to determine whether gays qualify as a quasi-suspect class. They used four tests to reach their decision. The first three were relatively easy to answer: One, have gays faced a history of discrimination? (Clearly yes.) Two, does sexual orientation affect "a person's ability to participate in or contribute to society"? (Obviously not.) And, three, is sexual orientation an immutable trait? (On this question, the court hedged a bit, declining to say that sexuality is completely fixed. But it did state that, even if people could change their sexuality, it would be a severe injustice for the government to demand that they do so. In other words, on the immutability question, the court basically said: Close enough."

This is how we get as near as one ever can to truth about the past. How, for example, do you refute the absurd conspiracy theory, which apparently still has some currency in parts of the Arab world, that "the Jews" were behind 9/11? By forbidding anyone from saying that, on pain of imprisonment? No. You refute it by refuting it. By mustering all the available evidence, in free and open debate. This is not just the best way to get at the facts; ultimately, it's the best way to combat racism and xenophobia too."

I came out to one of my sweetest friends in the whole world who I absolutely adore and she said "You mean you've been bisexual all this time and you NEVER once hit on me when we grew up together and we had sleepovers; weren't you attracted to me?" Now, I knew she was just joking, but there is no good answer to that question. It is a lose, lose situation. If you admit attraction, it may freak her out. If you say she isn't your type, she may be offended and embarrassed. You cannot win this one. Don't try. And I've had some curious friends say "If you don't mind me asking, how do two women have sex together; I mean something is OBVIOUSLY missing. *LOL* missing for them, but not for me. I think straight women sometimes think, OMG! Why is she telling me this? and I try to explain that the reason is because I cannot continue our friendship with such a deep dishonesty on this level by not saying who I really am :)

Bisexuality is very complex and most likely a variant. Does that mean there aren't a lot of women who are bisexual and closeted? Of course not. Is attraction based on more than just the image in the retina? YES, YES, YES. Do I have to post a link to a video of PINK to forget all of this? DUH.
