Civil Rights Struggle Continues for the Homeless
    deadcowkid
    by deadcowkid  12-12-2008    5
On Saturday, Dec. 6, HUFF and supporters will host a “sleep-out” in symbolic protest of the ordinances and unfair treatment of homeless residents at the Human Rights Fair at the Louden Nelson Community Center. “The problem is you have a bunch of people who are a part of the Democratic Party who persuade themselves they are very liberal,” Norse said. “They vote for Obama, they are in favor of getting out of Iraq, they are members of the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union), but when it comes to the local issue of poverty and poor people, they are as bad as the Republicans.”

Please print out, share, copy, discuss, give feedback, and use as organizing tools." "We don't and never have lived in a 'democratic society'-- we live in a class society. We live in a society of order givers and order takers, of bosses and bossed and rich and poor. The same group of thugs and lairs that claim to represent us, tries to to restrict OUR freedom to love, be with and sleep with whom we choose. These politicians pump up the fear."

100 Students Rally Against Gun Ranges in City Schools!

Interesting article at source. "Tuesday evening as I watched over a hundred high school students, mostly youth of color, from Lincoln High School and Mission Bay High School confront the aged, degenerate, industrial-military complex owned San Diego School Board. They were there to protest the ludicrous notion of gun ranges in their schools. These courageous young people, standing against the militaristic fads of our times, want no part of 20th Century violence. They belong to the 21st Century and have no interest in pre-emptive wars, wars against terror, perpetual war or acts of violence against anyone. Their's is a generation that sees "

Santa Cruz Police Bring Violence to Peaceful Protest. Main Stream Media Smeared what really occurred. Here is another view. I was there. The arrested protester was released, after a day in jail and the threat of 50,000 in bail, no charges. He was injured and never touched an officer. He was using a passive restive tactic to do what he thought was right. He took a stand.

Raging Grannies Sing to Support Drumers Circle
    deadcowkid
    by deadcowkid  9-11-2008
Video of Raging Grannies and Drum Circle Protest. The City erected Plastic fences to stop the event which were removed. One ticket was given out for smoking Marijuana. One of the larger issues is an unconstitutional law , the 15 minute parking lot panic law, which makes it illegal to be in a parking lot for more than 15 minutes, even if you have a car parked. The article at the source is one of the worst misinforming articles I have seen. The Drummers did return and play. Local Fox News was more balanced yet still inaccurate. I Never thought I would say that!

The Fences have been erected this a.m hours before the protest. "This is merely the newest battle of a war in Santa Cruz. A war against dissent, against the poor, against the homeless, and now against people making music. We challenge these laws and the police crackdown on undesirables -- an effort to "clean up" the streets of Santa Cruz of the young, the very old, immigrants, the unemployed, homeless, the insane, and anyone who resists."

The Video stream is poor at the Source. You can download or visit -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhifhRLoGXY for better video steaming. People gather here to eat, to feed others, to communicate and share a feeling of community. It has gone on for well over ten years without trouble with exception to when the police show up and harass musicians and others who gather there under the guise of the 15 minute Parking Lot Panic Law. We stopped it last year. We can do it again. Last year an unknown amount of money was spent on police time spent doing surveillance, harassment and watching people play music and feeding the poor. I would hope the police can find better things to do in our community. Yes drums can be a bit loud. But if we can do video interviews during a loud protest and hear the person, it certainly is not breaking any sound laws. It is one day a week. If you leave people with no place to legally gather, they will not simply leave. They will eventually rebel out of necessity.

Organization reiterates plan for homeless during DNC
    deadcowkid
    by deadcowkid  8-21-2008
Poverty must be seen. This is disgusting! If Obama truly wants change, he will address this issue along with the concentration looking prison cages being set up for protesters. Remember the Boston Massacre? That was a protest and we would not be here as Americans without that act of protest. We taunted the British into violence and even into killing to garner support for the cause. Now you get arrested for holding a sign. If the DNC had any balls they would invite the homeless in and ask them what there "American Dream" is.

Protesters shot themselves in the foot this time. I am an animal nut, I love them. However, this action does not help their cause, it alienates them from the general public ever getting behind them. They may have just dropped the entire movement back 30 years. Even PETA knows better than to do this. For the backlash protest, visit my clips!
