POPSHow to Become President with Clipmarks You heard it here first. In 2008, you just won't get elected without reaching out to the coveted Clipmarks community. And you can bet we'll be checking candidates' sign-up dates. :) The publicity for Clipmarks 2.0 rolls on....

POPSA Flawed Feminist Test "As a possible first Madame President, Hillary is a flawed science experiment because you can’t take Bill out of the equation. Her story is wrapped up in her marriage, and her marriage is wrapped up in a series of unappetizing compromises, arrangements and dependencies."

POPSREALITY CHECK! There is a frightening new global trend of denial... Europeans think that they don't need to limit fishing... Car companies don't think they need to improve fuel economy standards... Bush thinks he can increase spending and cut taxes at the same time... Jingoists think we are winning the war in Iraq... Democrats think Hillary Clinton has enough experience to win an election... Polluters think that Global Warming won't really happen... Evangelicals think Jesus is coming back soon... Fundamentalists think they can win the war against modernity... The truth is: we're stuck with this world. The rules DO apply. No free passes. You have to face the music sometime. We must choose realism over comfortable delusion. Unfortunately, for now, wistful thinking will rule the day until we let it all collapse around us. Then we'll stand there scratching our heads saying: How could this happen?

POPSPIMPIN OUR DAUGHTERS In the words of Hillary Clinton ' It takes a village' why does it take scientific studies and polls to make us aware of what is going on in our own families and culture? I mean does it really require society to tell us what is wrong with our families? DADS must someone else tell you what is appropriate behavior for your sons and daughters? As long as there is pop culture and idols are made of television stars our young people will be tempted to look like what they see on TV and in the movies. Perhaps a return to decency and a little old fashion modesty is in order?

POPSPalin, aside from being a woman... Obviously a lot has been said about the fact that McCain picked a woman as his VP. That is no doubt an interesting fact that can be interpreted in a few different ways. But putting that aside, i think the facts that matter most are those in this clip. These come from a comment by debbyski and i think they represent the reasons people will or won't support her. I would certainly be shocked if anyone who voted for Hillary would support Palin based on these specific differences in beliefs and policies.

POPSFacebook Never Forgets "The Internet's anonymity, long memory and free-for-all gossip culture may yet prove a poisonous cocktail. But as our generation grows older and enters public life -- thankfully, we have some time -- we'll find ourselves in a political culture that increasingly views these "gotcha" moments in context and with an eye toward forgiveness. After all, the incriminating photo, the offensive blog post, that drunken 3 a.m. e-mail -- it could have been any of us."

POPSStill a Democracy. 'How about you?' The voters will decide, with a far stronger opposition media than exists in the USA proselytising against the government. Venezuelans have not lost civil liberties the way people in the US or the UK have in recent years, and ordinary citizens continue to have more say in their government, and share more in its oil wealth, than ever before. It is doubtful that the referendum will reverse these changes, regardless of the outcome. He does seem to be trying to give the poor some healthcare and some hope. 'How about you?'

POPSListening with our stomachs. Voting with our guts. It seems to me that McCain-Palin now have Obama exactly where Obama had Hillary during the primaries. During the primaries, Obama was targeted and powerful with his message of change. He connected with people's hearts while Hillary tried to connect with their minds. It was obvious to anyone watching that Hillary was frustrated by this lock he had on her...but she got out of it by appealing to people's hearts, not their minds, for the stretch run (which proved very successful). If Obama is to win this election, he must realize that it wasn't his cerebral ability to speak about specific policies...it was his passionate ability to speak from the heart and connect with people's hopes and dreams for this country.

POPSHow to Listen Push this listening thing. Even for a day. When asked for your opinion, say, "I don't know." You'll baffle people, sure, but maybe that's a good thing. You can be the Quiet Man. Let them try to figure you out. I'll add: at the same time, don't be mysterious to the point of inscrutability. Share your thoughts when appropriate. If you've practiced listening to others, you'll have reserves of knowledge and experience to draw upon, which tends to compel people to listen to you in turn.

POPSI Need A Hero "There are plenty of remarkable and admirable people about. The challenge is for us to make them heroes, to allow them to inspire us."

POPSClintons Dumped Socks! This says a lot about one's character IMO, or lack thereof. Where I come from, pets are family . Pets are *people*. You do not abandon them. They are not "things" you just toss away on a whim. Pets are "adoptions, not aquisitions." Watch out Hillary, there are lots of voting animal lovers out there. Wouldn't it be a thrill, if a cat got to influence who became president... or not? Yay, go Socks!! . "No pet left behind" Hillary!!

POPSEdwards has a point: Hillary is Wrong Edwards raises a very good point, something Democrats have an amazing capacity to over look. In 2000 the Democrats ran Al Gore, and he wasn't able to generate enough enthusiasm to secure the white house. In 2004 they ran John Kerry as the "Bush-beater" candidate, and he didn't generate enough enthusiasm to even make people bother noticing the blatant fraud in the election. Dukakis, Mondale, McGovern, and Stevenson were no better. The democrats have run an outstanding array of losers since the mid point of the 20th century. As long as Hilary Clinton remains an establishment candidate with no clear ideological positions and delicately structured plans that only go half way, she won't be winning anything. Also, seriously, if the election came down to Hillary (Bomb Iran) v. Guliani (BOMB IRAN) then we would be looking at a contest where the Daisy Girl add would be considered positive PR!

POPSNovel Tools for collaborative Data Visualizations “When analyzing information, no single person knows it all,” he said. “When you have a group look at data, you protect against bias. You get more perspectives, and this can lead to more reliable decisions.” Those who register at the site can comment on one another’s work, perhaps visualizing the same information with different tools and discovering unexpected patterns in the data.

POPSPeggy Noonan on Obama: "bulletproof" Reagan's speechwriter points out that Obama's charisma and personality will make negative campaigning and dirty tricks by Republicans look even lower than they are. Clinton will be "easier for Republicans" to go after in the nastiest way possible.

POPSMcCain's VP pick... I thought these two excerpts were especially relevant to how the pick of Palin will viewed. All i can say for now is that it sure does shake up the chemistry of the election.

POPSHillary's Blackwater Ties We have to make the right decisions next election. We have come to close to the edge of tyranny. As a Nation we are bankrupt in money and name. The only way out is to get the best of the best.

POPSFOX Blows It It didn't get any better for FOX as the situation developed throughout the day. While Carl Cameron was on the air at 4:15PM EST reporting that all the hostages had been released, repeating it over and over again as if it were fact, CNN and MSNBC were cautiously reporting that according to police the situation was still uncertain, fluid and no one knew how many hostages still remained inside the campaign office. At 5:37PM EST, as seen live by millions, another hostage, a female, was released and at 6:13PM, a male hostage was released. FOX had gotten it all wrong. So much for corroborating information before going on the air with it, not to mention getting it all wrong. But accurate and responsible reporting would be asking just a little too much from a pop-entertainment channel now wouldn't it. In an interesting and revealing sidenote, Cameron reported the release of the female hostage this way. She fit's the description of your typical Clinton campaign volunteer.

POPSHow Obama Did It "How did he do it? How did Obama become the first Democratic insurgent in a generation or more to knock off the party's Establishment front runner? Facing an operation as formidable as Clinton's, Obama says in an interview, "was liberating ... What I'd felt was that we could try some things in a different way and build an organization that reflected my personality and what I thought the country was looking for. We didn't have to unlearn a bunch of bad habits."
