POPSA Test of the Copernican Principle Disproving the Copernican Principle would amount to a a Copernican revolution on its own account :-) Also, certain aspects of general relativity would need a profound review. Fortunately it seems Copernicus was right after all. Or was he?

POPSFinally No matter who wins the electoral college, the 2008 presidential election will be a historic one, as the nation will send either an African-American or the oldest first-term president to the White House. A McCain win would also mean the first female vice president in the nation's history. The 2008 presidential election has proved to be the most expensive in history. Americans are expected to head to the polls in record numbers. http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/11/04/election.president/index.html?eref=time_us

POPSBlack Bear Quintuplets When something as magical as this happens between man and animal, Native Americans say, 'We have walked together in the shadow of a rainbow.' And so it is with humility and great pleasure that I share these photos with you.

POPSThe Man Behind the Anti-Obama Hate Fest He prepared to run as a Democrat for Congress in Connecticut, where paperwork for one of his campaign committees listed as one purpose “to exterminate Jew power.” He ran as a Republican for the Florida State Senate and the United States Senate in Illinois. When running for president in 1999, he aired a television advertisement in New Hampshire that accused George W. Bush of using cocaine. A motion he filed in a 1983 bankruptcy case called the judge “a crooked, slimy Jew who has a history of lying and thieving common to members of his race.”

POPSHome-Schooler Ordered to Attend Public School According to court documents filed in Laconia, a small city in the central New Hampshire's Belknap County, Amanda is a well-adjusted child whose parents were divorced in 1999. The mother has primary physical custody of Amanda, whom she has home-schooled for several years in math, English, social studies, science, handwriting, spelling and the Bible. The course load, except for the Bible study, is similar to what public students get and the mother's home schooling has "more than kept up with the academic requirements of the school system," the judge's statement said. " believes that exposure to other points of view will decrease Amanda's rigid adherence to her mother's religious beliefs and increase her ability to get along with others and to function in a world which requires some element of independent thinking and tolerance for different points of view," Judge Sadler's ruling said.

POPSRepublican Confesses: "How I Rigged an Election."
While Republicans on the news -- and their trolls now here at clipmarks -- a full time once again trying to suppress the vote with false charges of voter fraud and by trying to put minority and poor advocates out of the voter registration business... ...here's a FACT: This guy was arrested for Republican dirty tricks during the election. FACT. This guy went to jail for a real Republican sponsored election tampering. The Republican attacks against this group, ACORN...and their false attempts to link ACORN to Obama (as if Obama needs to do voter fraud...) --- all this has been done before and is the Classic method of Republican voter suppression. They started doing this seriously real bad from the year 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, now; and they intend to continue this for years forward. So when you hear the lies about ACORN today; I hope you will also consider the FACT of Republican voter dirty tricks that is documented here, and proved by this guy going to jail.

POPSFred Thompson Shakes Up the GOP Primary So, from the conservatives I talk to, here and elsewhere, I get the impression that Fred Thompson would really energize the GOP. The Republicans aren't running as disciplined of a process as they usually do, so it seems this could shake up a rather sloppy field. Who do you think stands to lose the most from F. Thompson's candidacy? Who do you think stands to gain the most? (I see a boost for Tommy Thompson, riding a wave of twin Thompson confusion...)

POPSRare copy of Declaration of Independence found The last Dunlap print to be found was sold at an auction for $8.14 million in 2000. National Archives officials said they weren't sure how the Declaration of Independence copy ended up there. Archives spokeswoman Frances McDarby said it was "possible that an American coastal vessel was intercepted by the British navy and that is how the document was able to come into our possession." The prints, known collectively as the Dunlap Broadside, were the first copies of the Declaration of Independence. They were printed by John Dunlap of Philadelphia and distributed to political and military leaders, including George Washington, and dispatched throughout the colonies to be read to the public.

POPSSuper Rats are here continues: Prof Smith of the university's applied sciences department warned that "super rats" may be thriving in communities across Britain. The Government no longer provides funding to track resistance, meaning the scale of the problem is unclear. "Natural selection means that when you have a rat population in your town, poison will kill the ones that aren't resistant, the ones that survive may have the gene, they then have babies who can receive the gene themselves," he said. "There are mutations and changes in their DNA that alter the ability of rats to deal with these poisons. It appears to be moving west and has now been located in Swindon and Bristol. It is a warning of things to come."

POPSNew Hampshire Goes Gay Hooray! New Hampshire legalizes gay civil-unions. No, it ain't marriage, but we're getting there. 5 years ago who would have thought civil-unions would start making such major inroads in the states. In a few very short years, same-sex marriage will become the law of the land, just as it is in our close neighbour and largest trading partner, Canada.

POPSGovernment as the Hammer of Religion Here we go again. Over the years my enthusiasm has been dampened somewhat by failures to rid this secular country of the self-serving desires of Christian Nationalists seeking unwarranted privilege, but you never know. Maybe reason will prevail this time.

POPSTim Russert, Journalist Extraordinaire.....NOT This column by Paul Waldman, in the American Prospect is a must-read for anyone who finds themselves baffled by the ridiculous level of questions asked at the presidential debates, and other face-to-face interviews. He chooses Tim Russert as his primary target in this piece, which is quite apt considering the way Russert handled the questioning during the Democratic debate October 30. I was only able to clip a tiny bit to give you an idea of what it is about, but I urge you to read the entire piece. It is well worth your time in my rarely to be humble opinion.
