POPSUN / Google Censor Journalist Matthew Lee I work with Matthew at the UN - every day we attend briefings, stakeouts and meetings together. Matthew is certainly a 'thorn' in the establishment's side. Matt is a great journalist, and de-listing his material is akin to censorship.

POPSTens of thousands flee Gaza for Egypt Allowing Palestinians into Egypt was a strategically smart and humane move by Egypt - seriously increases the image of Israel as regional bully. Though Israel does have a right to be safe, the blockade does not make them safe.

POPSThe Talk Radio News Service Today we launched the new iteration of the Talk Radio News Service website! As you know, I’m the Chief United Nations Correspondent for TRNS, as well as their social media consultant. We’ve been hard at work redesigning this new site for quite some time, and hope that you find it a useful place for disseminating news from Washington DC, the United Nations, and the Presidential Campaign Trail. There may still be a few bugs lurking, so as we continue to improve this space we’d love your feedback and comments. There’s a helpful little tutorial video over on the Help page. Thanks!

POPSAl Qaeda Wants Videos a la YouTube Debate Wow. I almost feel as though Creepy Sleepy should submit a video entry. I'm fairly certain that some will find this completely offensive, but it's an interesting opportunity to address the 'enemy' by using social media. How very odd. What questions should Creepy Sleepy ask Al Qaeda? What would you ask?

POPSChavez and the Venezuela Revolution Creepy Sleepy Correspondent and Phd candidate at Southern Illinois University William 'Doc' Stodden analyzes and dissects the recent Venezuelan election, Democracy and Chavez, and the parallels to Cuba. Fantastic writing.

POPSBaghdad Starts to Exhale as Security Improves I too am very happy to see the level of violence decline. But I can't help thinking that this is due to the increased troop levels. We SHOULD have gone in with this many, or more. The 'surge' is scheduled to end summer of 08, so what happens a year from now?

POPSBush-Cheney Really Are Planning to Attack Iran! Here's the theory: Bush does not want his legacy to include leaving office with Iran in possession of nuclear capabilities. Even if Iran does NOT have the bomb, it has been so hyped that Bush can't afford to appear soft on Iran after talking such a tough game. The neo-Con strategy includes destabilizing the region, with a plan of long-term domination. Interesting strategy, and we should not be surprised if Iran becomes a serious concern 6 months from now.

POPSU.N. Report Describes Risks of Inaction on Climate Change This is a critical step in legitimizing climate change as a serious issue. Conservatives, particularly in the Bush administration, have acted to re-brand Global Warming as 'Climate Change' and not a serious issue. Though Mr. Ban is new to his role as SG at the UN, this is still a significant step.

POPSU.S. Is Looking Past Musharraf in Case He Falls This could get pretty gross, very quickly. Musharraf is, as the article says, the 'West's alternative to radical Islamists,' and yet his behavior is very similar to the behavior we accuse Ahmadinejad of. And yet, Iran has open elections, and in Pakistan protesters are in jail. Something's fucked here.

POPSPakistan Attempts to Crush Protests by Lawyers This is very, very bad. Pakistan is a critical US ally, and has the Bomb. Additionally, the US has stated that we will continue to fund Pakistan, despite the UN SG Ban Ki Moon stating that this situation gravely concerns him. This will certainly affect the US's image abroad. Bad, bad news.
