POPSEven the Giants Can Learn to Think Small BACK in the waning days of the 20th century, little start-up companies couldn’t wait to get big. Growth was their entree to the upper echelon, to millions in venture capital and tens of millions more in an initial public offering of stock. Getting big meant taking advantage of economies of scale, putting the company name on a ballpark, creating a global distribution network and hiring the industry’s best to conduct big-picture research.

POPSSeth Godin: These ARE the good old days The quote is from an old post, but it's still true. Everything is horrible; everything is wonderful. I have a framed New Yorker cover of a glass half-full on my bathroom wall to remind me of this every day. It's over 10 years old, and came out on what would have been my mom's 58th birthday. That was a horrible year; that was a great year. This was a horrible year; this was a great year. May next year be horrible-great for you, too.

POPSBroaden Your Bird's Eye View at TED Last week, I talked about Knowlage@Wharton and what a profound effect it had on my brain. This reminded me of another wonderful (I mean that literally) website, that I frequently rest at, TED.

POPSSeth Godin's Wisdom I never understood the Hallmark phenomena. Just recently one of my colleagues retired and at the retirement gathering to celebrate her last day, she received an amazing series of congratulating remarks regarding her achievements she made during her career. It was quite a contrast with how little we receive in response what we do throughout the years. I thought, gee, we shouldn't be working many years just to receive the last 15 minutes glory.

POPSChin surfing Seth Godin makes a remarkable, simple observation about generational/attitudinal differences when it comes to technology. I have *seen* people do this! I have *seen* people sticking out their chins as they sit down to a computer! Like it's something to be wary of, instead of something of service. Hilarious...and true.

POPSLearning 2.0 I think I would rate this as a "must read" (the eBook, that is. The blog is also good)

POPSBob Dylan Meets Powerpoint Garr Reynolds talks about the "Lessig Method" of presenting. Often using 100+ slides in a 15 minute presentation. Most slides only contain a single word, phrase or picture. Much like in the Bob Dylan video of Subterranean Homsick Blues. Also used quite a bit by Seth Godin.
