POPSThe era of the American Internet is ending. “Since passage of the Patriot Act, many companies based outside of the United States have been reluctant to store client information in the U.S.,” said Marc Rotenberg, executive director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center in Washington. “There is an ongoing concern that U.S. intelligence agencies will gather this information without legal process. There is particular sensitivity about access to financial information as well as communications and Internet traffic that goes through U.S. switches.”

I am all for protecting the vulnerable, but this smells a little too much like censorship, to me What else could or would governments decide to deem "harmful information"? Do I trust they always would have my best interests at heart, if they get to decide what we can read or not? In my opinion, the causes of suicide largely lie offline, not on. If we want to reduce suicide, look to answer the questions why first, now how. "Guns don't kill people", and neither do webpages.

I think that eventually we will have to recognize it as an added capability of the human, the netting/wired sense or a sort. certainly not a disorder.

If the idea that this was a self-inflicted strikes you as unbelievable, then do some careful research on the internet, with an open mind, and be prepared to have your beliefs challenged. If that is not convincing, read one of the three books on the subject by the academic and theologian David Ray Griffin. Let's hope this year the truth begins to be more widely disseminated. It is hard to watch Loose Change (easy to get on the internet) without concluding something is very amiss.
