POPSHow to ask for help I'm bookmarking this everywhere. I'm sending this to everyone. This is the best advice ever written—EVER!!!—on how to solicit advice, help, favors, etc. from people. Thank you, Pamela Slim!

POPSYou are not your resume The inimitable Liz Ryan sums up why iconoclasm is the only answer to change. (There's a bunch of pretty good advice about Facebook, too, if you're new to it, but I f*cking hate Facebook.)

POPSThe stepkid is never wrong Cary Tennis gets into the head of an angry, 10-year-old boy to try and illustrate where a "good" stepmom is going off the rails. Great advice from Cary, plus a lot of interesting responses from readers. This stuff runs deep, people; as someone who has lived on both sides of the step divide, I can attest to that. Beware the step relationship, know your stuff if you choose to enter in, and please please please: children first. Remember, even if they can voice their deepest feelings (and usually, they can't), they weren't the ones who chose this state of affairs.

POPSBest writing advice I've heard in a long time Artist-zenmistress Evelyn Rodriguez shares some delightful insight on the path to "real" writing (as opposed to the kind we do to sell things--not that there's anything wrong with that) via Allen Ginsberg, via Jack Kerouac.
