Deepti says:
"Mukti Biswas, an arrested villager in another district of West Bengal state, told police he had plucked bodies from the river, as well as collecting those left behind at Hindu cremation centres by poor people who lacked the wood to perform a proper cremation"

how disturbing...

Pretty smart though. What else is the use for human bones? At least they made some people happy now... It's not like innocents (or anyone) were killed for the bones!

Was it not from Indian that most of the old skeletons that were used in the universities for medical students ? Until plastic was devolped. So I supposed they would have to find another use for the bones. It is just the thought that puts one off. Also did I not read that the bone meal that came from Indian had human bones mix in with the animal bones. As the bone gathers were not to concerned what bones they collected.

Recently a friend of mine passed away, and we offered her son a cremation urn. It was a perfect white marble vase style urn, and exactly what this woman reflected to us. Many people touched the urn and had a special connection to her through it. She was a good woman, good friend, and a knowledgeable and active member of our mountain side community. I will miss our walks in the morning with my dogs.
We were glad to memorialize our friend through the urn we choose. Cremation urns provide the special opportunity to give a loved one a special resting place just as unique as they were in life.<br>India's hindus cremate as well, but scatter in the their loved ones cremains in their sacred river...
