From what I've gathered, solar panels are just not up to the task of being worthwhile. The efficiency of todays cells are something like 14% to 20% I believe? I recall that they need to get over 50% before they become viable and affordable.

I've also discovered that the newer versions of the car will be hybrids. They will run on air pressure below a certain speed (< 30 mph?) and then an engine will kick in for higher speeds and use a variety of fuels (propane, gasoline, diesel, grain-gas, cooking oil, etc). I think this is a mistake, myself. With all these "green laws" being put into effect for pollution and such, maybe a more intelligent one should simply be forcing a limit on speeds? Slo...

Still trying to find more up to date stuff on it. I believe Mexico was suppose to get a bunch (40,000?) to replace their taxi cabs and bus systems. Anyone know if that happened?

I think people need to talk about this idea more. The powers that be are not interested because they've already invested in other areas.

Why couldn't they build this car a bit larger and add an on board compressor that would run on vegetable oil to use a generator for longer trips? Another alternative is to make it into a small pick up truck and add a larger tank to hold more air, even under the box. They could hook up a gear that attaches to the rear wheel and attach an alternator for the compressor. It is about time that someone came out with a great idea like this and get us off of oil. There would still be a demand for oil with airlines, transports and ships but hopefully with a glut it would drop the price for them and reduce the cost of transporting goods across the country. We can then be self sufficient and not have ...
