Dr Nimtz told New Scientist magazine: "For the time being, this is the only violation of special relativity that I know of."
Scary XD

What makes any human being think that they know anything at all about the nature of the universe?
Everything we have ever learned and know now wouldn't even fill a thimble compared to the truths of the universe.
14 billion years compared to what? 100,000 years? The answers are right in front of us and we still don't see.

If this is true and not just based on a bad observation, I think it could be an extremely important discovery...

I know it is an important observation. I believe that light is a speed that is quite low on the reality of relativity and we are only now beginning to realize how much we really don't know.

No need to fret. Willie's on top of the issue. It's all about "physicalism and materialism". The great minds of science can now move on to other things.

Yep...that seems to be his one word answer to everything. A rather long word to be sure, but still just one word. But you must be careful or you will trip his idiot meter, you know the one he uses to detect everybody that doesn't think like him, like 80% of the clippers here. I think that meter needs a little tweaking. Must be driving him nuts!

Actually it's the stupidity of small minds talking about something that isn't even there, when the clip at hand talks about one of the most amazing scientific discoveries of all time. But when brain isn't big enough - you only have room to critique someone who disagrees with you politically... I think you misplaced who has the idiot meter here.

... although I'm sure you'll now throw it at me, since that's about all you can muster...

Thanks, RS.
My point is not too dissimilar from skwirl's. It is the common fad in science over the past 100 years to fit "observations" into a tidy little box (physicalism), even though 99% or more of reality is unknown or unknowable in a physical sense. Yet, esoteric-eroticism leads the ignorant to believe anything they can wrap their misguided little minds around and project theories as facts into our lives. They base everything around some idiotic theories based on only what they can observe without logic, idealism, or naturalism.

Just for the sake of clarity the word 'everything' is the crusial word to the above comment. I feel silly, but I do realize the minds of some of those that read these threads.

Of course, I already clipped this about 3 days ago so...again how is it that I do not find this that important?

Well RS,I don't see you making a habit of making angry tirades, huffing and puffing and injecting pseudo-intellectual yet meaningless answers to rather sedate conversations. You and I have butted heads, no surprise there, but rarely have you engaged in smearing everybody around you. Its not his political views that I object to (I certainly don't agree, but thats not the point). The point is that he is behaving like a troll, a sophisticated troll to be sure (physicalism, materialism, logic, etc) that appears to hold most of the clipmarks community in contempt (his words, not mine). So its no wonder some of us really don't hold him in high regard either.

This is probably the first time he m...

esoteric-eroticism
?

Are you hitting on me?

Sorry fella I don't bend that way. Although I guess simple eroticism is rather esoteric, but mine is not. I like to know (and remember) where my eyes, ears, mouth and skin have been, at all times. Its a safety precaution, you understand.

esoteric-eroticism: the jollies of conspiratorial thinking and believing you know things other's do not. There is a erotic attraction of those like you to silly theories and ideas. I actually coined the word, feel free!

Oh so its goobly-gook, with no actual reference to the words that your using. I knew you where just making this stuff up. At least you have imagination. But if you really don't know what eroticism (in both the sexual and physical) really means, don't name drop them, it makes you look...silly.

@ratiflar, the BIGGEST problem with your tirade, that kills your whole argument here is the fact that you started this non-sense, completely unrelated to the clip, in commenting regarding willhelm, before he uttered a word. WILLHELM is his nick, btw, so prior to accusing others about 'smearing' and such - you might want to look in the mirror first... especially considering the first three letters of your nick...

8-19-2007 2:11 PM
ratilfar
Well I have had my nick shortened before...comes with the territory. And as much as I hate to drag somebody into this, I believe I was responding to BB. I understand RS, your seeing somebody getting beat up (or at least appearing to be) and you sympathize. It is a noble effort, and your right, it does not speak well of me to do so. My apologies to BitDrifter for hijacking his clip. I am sure that all he wanted to talk about was photons.

Sometimes you risk becoming what you oppose.

So don't... it's not that hard. Nice of you to apologize though. The clip was fascinating and amazing what some humans on this planet are capable of doing.

By any measure, it's a marvel—as a work of art, as an article of devotion, as a testament to the richness of hand-made craftwork. But who's going to take it outside and beat it? Long known for its delicate and ornate Persian rugs, Iran has recently been losing market share to cheaper Asian manufacturers, according to industry reports
