POPSThink you're anonymous online? Don't count on it
More: That might not sound like a big deal until one considers an example: "First, we can immediately find his political orientation based on his strong opinions about Power and Terror: Noam Chomsky in Our Times and Fahrenheit 9/11. Strong guesses about his religious views can be made based on his ratings on Jesus of Nazareth and The Gospel of John. He did not like Super Size Me at all; perhaps this implies something about his physical size? Both items that we found with predominantly gay themes, Bent and Queer as folk were rated one star out of five. He is a cultish follower of Mystery Science Theater 3000. This is far from all we found about this one person, but having made our point, we will spare the reader further lurid details."…Back in 2000, a Carnegie Mellon researcher took a look at 1990 US census data and concluded that 87 percent of all Americans could be uniquely identified based on only three items: ZIP code, gender, and date of birth.

POPS Busted! WH Confirms Using Contractor to Send Axelrod E-mails "This is yet another ominous chapter in the administration's rabid campaign to jam its radical health care scheme onto an unwilling public by any means necessary," Rep. Thaddeus McCotter of Michigan said in a statement. Govdelivery sent hundreds of e-mails from senior adviser David Axelrod asking supporters to help rebut criticism of Obama's health care plan circulating on the Internet. It also sent e-mails highlighting Obama's speech to the Muslim world in Cairo and the announcement of Sonia Sotomayor as a Supreme Court nominee . So we have an outfit using your taxpayer money to send unsolicited emails to opponents of Obama's government takeover of our healthcare system. And these people have the audacity to accuse others of Astro-turfing. If the GOP did this there'd already be hearings underway.

POPSSpamming StumbleUpon not Profitable! So it turns out that yes, spammers may get traffic from Stumblers when they abuse the SU system...But the joke is that Stumblers don't click ads, pay , or buy. This isn't surprising. StumbleUpon was primarily catered to geeks in the early days and the geeks are still here. Geeks aren't a good demographic for internet marketing. LoL

POPSSpam King Slammed With Suit Apparently spamming actually brings in quite a bit of money for these yahoos. Until it eats into their bottom-line (either through lawsuits or severe drops in revenue) it will never go away. You can help out by reporting spammers to your ISP and/or junking them. Responding to them only encourages them. Spammers are like trolls. Do not play with them!

POPSTrying To Catch A Phish. There are so many dangers out there on the Internet, just like in the world of reality. One cannot be naive. you must always be vigilant and on guard for those who wish to hurt you. The two worlds of virtual reality and reality are mirrors of one another. You would not walk down an unfamiliar street late at night because an inner voice tells you this is unwise. Well even when you are secure feeling safe and sound in your home that inner voice must be trained to warn you of the dangers that lurk on the Internet. Educate yourself, if something seems a bit phishy, it probably is and will do you harm.
