Interventionism, Not Muslims, Is the Problem
    thisnamecantbetaken
    by thisnamecantbetaken  10-28-2008    11
Thus, rather than ceasing its policy of interventionism after 9/11, which is what the U.S. government should have done even while pursuing the perpetrators through criminal-justice means, it did the very worst thing possible — it continued and even expanded its policy of interventionism in the hope of killing those whose differences with America’s values had risen to the level of rage as a result of U.S. interventionism. Not surprisingly, that only fueled more anger and rage. So, what should the U.S. government do now? It should do what it should have done after 9/11: Exit Afghanistan and Iraq and the entire Middle East. Bring all the troops home. Everyone seems to know this, but America. I read a lot of hate against Muslims on CM and I find that highly troubling. It's a crock. Muslims DON'T hate us, they are NOT the enemy and if the US just left other countries alone, the "War on Terror" would be over. Don't buy into it.. Bring the troops home.

A fine but no lash for Sudan woman who wore pants
    Aribeth
    by Aribeth  9-7-2009    5
“The flogging, yes, it causes pain,” Mrs. Hussein, who is Sudanese, said. “But more important, it is an insult. This is why I want to change the law.” The last time Sudan’s courts handled a case that attracted such international attention, they found a compromise solution. A British schoolteacher had faced up to 40 lashes and six months in prison for allowing her students to name a class teddy bear Muhammad, which was perceived as an insult to Islam. But after being sentenced to 15 days in jail, she was soon pardoned by the Sudanese president.

    Teachers 'fear evolution lessons'
    Amergin
    by Amergin  10-7-2007    16
Many more teachers he met at scientific meetings were telling him they encountered more pupils with creationist views, he said. "The days have long gone when science teachers could ignore creationism when teaching about origins." Instead, teachers should tackle the issue head-on, whilst trying not to alienate students, he argues in a new book. His book; Teaching about Scientific Origins: Taking Account of Creationism, gives science teachers advice on how to deal with the "dilemma". The scientist, who is also a Church of England priest, adds that any teaching should not give the impression that creationism and the theory of evolution are equally valid scientifically. I agree with the Professor views in that Creationism must be faced head on. His views on Christian students however are only relevant to the UK, the U.S. is faced with a monumental battle on this issue. I really dislike this new wave of religious fervour sweeping the planet in many bastard forms. It must

    When Not Seeing Is Believing
    Kore7
    by Kore7  10-3-2006    3
Human perfection. Whether we like it or not. Justice, peace and virtue. That concept of the beneficent, omnipotent will of God and the need to always submit to it, whether we like it or not, is not new. It has been present in varying degrees throughout history in all three great monotheisms—Judaism, Christianity and Islam—from their very origins. And with it has come the utter certainty of those who say they have seen the face of God or have surrendered themselves to his power or have achieved the complete spiritual repose promised by the Books of all three faiths: the Torah, the Gospels, the Koran. That is where the smile comes from. (Andrew Sullivan. Time Magazine , Oct. 2, 2006.)

Pakistan faces Christian protest after eight people 'burned alive'
    clip-on-tie
    by clip-on-tie  8-4-2009    1
Missionary schools across Pakistan closed on Monday in a three day protest against the deaths of up to seven Christians who were burned alive in clashes with Muslims. But glad the atheists are ignoring this because it only makes sense to condemn the victims who are being burned alive. Nice. So atheists, tell me, are there any Christians who need to be condemned because they asked a girl who was disrupting a classroom during Sunday School to "be quiet." I know it's horrific that a Christian could do such a thing as asking someone to be quiet during church. I mean, burning someone alive isn't nearly as bad....dontcha think?

    Islam Under Scrutiny
    dl211
    by dl211  3-27-2009    25
Also, relative to the Islamic principle of predestination, the doctrine of abrogation seemingly presumes that Allah was predestined to be wrong or predestined to change his mind, while also convenient introducing an element of moral relativity, justifying any action that benefited Islam, and again, pretty much Muslim men. This principle also redefined the nature of “good and “evil”; making “good,” any act or situation beneficial to Muslims, and “evil,” any act or situation not beneficial to Muslims. If an act or situation, no matter how destructive or repugnant, benefits Islam, it is by its very nature moral, justifiable, and entirely acceptable under this principle. Conveniently, as a means of disavowing the horrific or inconvenient within Islam, Muslim apologists often point to the Koran as proof that a particular horrific or inconvenient aspect of their culture is in fact, not really a part of their culture after all, because it is not specifically referenced within the Kora

On July 30, eight people were burned alive in the village of Gojra, also in Punjab, after a purported incident of desecration of the Koran in the nearby village of Korian Wala. Churches were attacked and copies of the Bible and hymn books were burned in both villages. In Korian Wala alone, more than 50 houses of Christians were ransacked. On Sept. 11, a church in a village in Punjab's Sialkot district was burned after claims that a 20-year-old Christian youth had desecrated the Koran. On Sept. 15, a day after his arrest, Robert Masih was found dead in his jail cell. Police reported it as a suicide, but Mr. Masih's family claims he was killed. Joseph Francis, who runs an organization providing legal assistance to Christians, said he saw marks of torture on Mr. Masih's body.
