POPSVaseline - A cure for all your ills? From the article: It is useful as a face cream for the same reason - the more moisture that can be retained in the skin, the plumper and less wrinkled it looks. Dry skin conditions, including eczema and even psoriasis, benefit from this added moisturisation too, but also from the fact that a Vaseline barrier reduces the penetration of irritants. "Eczema is probably caused by allergy-causing molecules getting into the skin," says Prof Hawk. "Any occlusive moisturiser would help to prevent this, but Vaseline is more bland than most, there are no perfumes or colourants, so it is less likely to cause irritation."

POPSDiabetic girl dies as parents pray "She said her family believed in the Bible and that healing came from God. But she insisted that they were not "crazy religious people" "Even after her death, her parents, Dale and Leilani Neumann, who did not belong to any organised faith, prayed over her body in the hope that she might be resurrected."

POPSWhat if everything you believe is Wrong? Retrospect and reflection are priceless. It's easy to cherish a belief that we are not prepared to challenge. Like a crab that needs to shed it's shell to grow, for a short time is soft and vulnerable. Soon it is harder, stronger and bigger. (unless it's a Hermit crab, with a new shell ready) One of the keys to the manner in which we challenge our beliefs is through learning and experience. Without the unknown to draw us forward, we would run around in circles. Consider the way a child sees the world. It can be valid, but sometimes beliefs belong in the domain of children. Children can believe a man they barely know gives them gifts for Christmas. There comes a time in their life that they have to admit not so much that this is a fiction, but that the truth has been that their parents have had to work to get the money to get the gifts, with absolutely no credit. (Sorry, I should write Recognition. Credit and Christmas are Mortal enemies)

POPSWhy We Laugh And Cry I'm the type of person who can laugh and/or cry at just about anything. It makes me happy to do both. Sometimes people can say to me, "Oh, don't cry" but I most often feel and say "Oh don't worry, it's a good cry" and this article explains why it always apparently feels so good afterwards doing either. We have emotions and responses to them for a reason. Use them and we may just live longer, healthier and happier lives because of it! :)

POPSFrom tahini to the street, all about sesame :) "Health Benefits : Sesame oil rubbed on the skin may soothe a minor burn or sunburn as well as help in the healing process. It's not unusual to encounter fantastic claims attributed to a single food. Sesame seed oil is said to remove wrinkles when applied to the skin in a facial massage. If this news gets out, there won't be a bottle left on the grocery shelves! Eat some sesame seeds to relieve constipation and to remove worms from the intestinal tract. They're an aid to digestion, stimulate blood circulation, and benefit the nervous system. Sesame oil makes ideal massage oil because of its excellent emollient properties. Applied topically, sesame oil is thought to aid in healing chronic diseases of the skin. With its vitamin E content, it's also a benefit to the heart and nervous system. " Interesting to know... :) and tasty!

POPSWhere Is Atheism When Bad Things Happen? Hmm....I had noticed this but never really gave it much thought. Good points. Funny that the protests against religious expression never occur until a couple weeks or so after a tragedy like this. More than that you never see an atheist offering a shoulder to those who are suffering. These folk scatter faster at the outset of tragedy, when man's natural inclination is to turn to God, than do roaches at a the turning of a light switch. Suppose they are seeking similar dark corners?

POPSThe Healing Power of Dogs Integrative Cancer Therapies reported how ordinary house dogs could identify breast and lung cancer patients by smelling their breath. A University of Maine study is testing whether dogs can sniff out ovarian cancer.. Via the breath too, I hope! *LOL* Dogs rock, cats rule. Get a pet. It's good for you. :)

POPSThe questions facing our generation ' would it be so bad if the human race was slightly improved? What if a relatively simple procedure could make an individual and his or her offspring more compassionate, intelligent and thoughtful? Currently scientists are using gene therapy in an attempt to wipe out disease, but what if we could save many more lives by wiping out war instead though engineering humans to be less bloodthirsty, hateful and narrow-minded?
