POPSA MUST for Windows Users! Get it NOW!! This s/w allows you to create alias for ANY folder. This is similar to what the web does with using names instead of IP address (e.g. www.cnn.com instead of 122.1.2.2). This program allows you to name say, c:\my documents\my pictures\family photos\wedding pics as simply Wedding Pics. Then whenever you want to get to that folder simply right click anywhere on the desktop, choose folder guide, then choose Wedding Pics. 3 whole clicks! You can also use this in 'Save As' dialogs. Simply right click in the area where the folders are and do the same thing. I don't know why Microsoft didn't include this as a default tool. I wonder if it's in vista or not. A great program that does something right....and it's FREE!!!

POPSFinally No matter who wins the electoral college, the 2008 presidential election will be a historic one, as the nation will send either an African-American or the oldest first-term president to the White House. A McCain win would also mean the first female vice president in the nation's history. The 2008 presidential election has proved to be the most expensive in history. Americans are expected to head to the polls in record numbers. http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/11/04/election.president/index.html?eref=time_us

POPSIsrael Using Cluster Bombs on Gaza Cluster bombs do not "target" militants tightly, urban areas especially. "Collateral damage" is absolutely guaranteed. More evidence that Israel is not making war on just Hamas, but Palestinians in their "collective punishment" tactics. The first pic was posted on Drudge. The last link in this clipmark has posted the CNN video showing general news of the Israeli attacks on Gaza which inadvertantly captured these bombs in action. 93 nations have banned them, except for US, Russia, and Israel.

POPSShould Marijuana Ban Go Up in Smoke?
Although this is considered a 'back burner,' issue in the more real world of lying to lead a nation into false wars or the SuperRich & Wall St. speculators ripping off untold trillions the futility and hyprocracy of this always comes around again and again. The prime illegal use of drugs is of prescription drugs. One of the drugs that does the most damage to self and society is booze. The War on Weed is a failure, will always be a failure, and it's main use thus far appears to be to give permission for USA covert wars in Central and South America and put hundreds of thousands of those who might tend to be domestic 'social dissidents,' in jail. Now, too, it's being added to one of the reasons to kill people in Afghanistan; gotta stop them from growing drugs. If anyone is seriously interested in reducing interest in drugs then all drug advertising (pot or pills or booze, etc.) should be banned from TV. If you want to stop drug abuse stop promoting drug use. Try that 'D

POPSFt. Hood Shooting, 'This is a Domestic Terrorist Attack' Gen. Barry McCafferty (CNN) -- An owner of a 7-Eleven convenience store in Fort Hood, Texas, said Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan came in for coffee and hashbrowns most mornings, including the morning he allegedly shot dozens of soldiers. Surveillance video from the store obtained by CNN shows a man who, according to the store owner, is Hasan at the cashier's counter at about 6:20 a.m. Thursday (7:20 a.m. ET) -- about seven hours before the mass shooting -- carrying a beverage and dressed in traditional Arab garb. POPSMorning After. "Hamas Still in Business". Round 2 before Election The pause for Obama's enthronement has been observed. The next round will be pre-elections in Israel, so within a fortnight. Barak's gang are losing in the polls so another 1,000 dead Gazan women, children and civilians might swing it back their way. Dead Gazans equals more votes?! Certainly, they have nothing to lose. Has their worldwide reputation ever been lower - well excepting in the US that did so little pre WW2 and is making up for it since at Arab expense? They are opening called Nazis and worse. Their crocodile tears for the GOOD Jews, non-Zionist, that died in the WW2 holocaust are wasted, particularly among the many who know the part played by Zionist in collusion in the deaths in WW2! Their beggar-bowl may be empty from here on! Who would want to seen supporting Hitler once WW2 started?! POPSIMF warns of economic riots Hopefully, this is nothing more than necessary contingency planning, but a separate recent article stated that the Department of Defense plans to deploy 20,000 troops nationwide to help state and local officials respond to ‘nuclear attacks’ and ‘emergencies’. I can’t help but think the emergencies referred to could be riots over our deflating economy. There have already been food riots in Haiti, Bangladesh, and Egypt (http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/americas/04/14/world.food.crisis/) and the way our government uses our money to bailout the banking system without any oversight, and the numbers of jobless and homeless keep increasing, civil unrest is not farfetched. I only have my faith that Americans will not go to this extreme but my faith in Americans have been shattered before.

POPS Be Afraid Bomb parts smuggled into 10 federal buildings during test In a videotape obtained by CNN, a covert GAO inspector places a bag containing bomb components on an X-ray machine conveyor belt and then walks through a magnetometer at an unidentified federal building. Unlike some covert tests that use simulated explosives, the GAO used actual bomb components in the test and publicly available information "to identify a type of device that a terrorist could use" to damage a building. Watch undercover agent smuggle bomb "The (improvised explosive device) was made up of two parts -- a liquid explosive and a low-yield detonator -- and included a variety of materials not typically brought into a federal facility by an employee or the public," the report says. Investigators obtained the components at local stores and over the Internet for less than $150, the report says. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/07/07/federal.buildings.security/index.html#cnnSTCVideo

POPSThe Surge is....oh no, not again! "And the GAO report finds just that, that the Bush administration has no plan for what to do next. With the 18-month surge coming to an end in July, the report says that the administration has not set out "strategic goals and objectives in Iraq for the phase after July 2008 or how it intends to achieve them" and "an updated strategy is needed for how the United States will help Iraq achieve key security, legislative, and economic goals." The report acknowledged that violence was down in May (after rising in March and April) and attributed the reduction to three factors: "1) the increase in U.S. combat forces, 2) the creation of nongovernmental security forces such as the Sons of Iraq, and 3) the Mahdi Army's declaration of a cease fire." What do these three conditions have in common? They are all temporary and unlikely to continue in the future.

POPSTroop Extensions: CNN Opinion Page Read all the comments. Many are from actually soldiers or military family members and even vets. Some support the extension, others do not. It's just CNN, but it is an interesting "snap-shot" perspective on how some people feel about what is happening to our troops (and their families).

POPSCNN busted running phony Gaza propaganda, yanks video Gee, it’s hard to admit when you’re wrong. Little Green Footballs exposed the fraud, so CNN pulled the video from its website without explanation. However, the propaganda lives on in the form of a text-only story. POPSThe facts about taxes from Morford's commenter
vkkv 8/6/2008 1:33:13 AM 2)-According to new research out of Princeton, real middle class wage growth is double when a Democrat is president compared to when a Republican is president. POPSSuicide blasts at Jakarta Ritz, Marriott kill 8 see images of the aftermath: http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/07/17/indonesia.hotels.explosions/index.html#cnnSTCPhoto Suspicion will fall on the Southeast Asian Islamist militant group Jemaah Islamiyah or its allies. The network is blamed for past attacks in Indonesia, including a 2003 bombing at the Marriott when 12 people died. The blasts at the J.W. Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels, located side-by-side in an upscale business district in Jakarta, blew out windows and scattered debris and glass across the street, kicking up a thick plume of smoke. Facades of both hotels were reduced to twisted metal. An Associated Press reporter at the scene saw bodies being shuttled away in police trucks. Alex Asmasubrata, who was jogging nearby, said he walked into the Marriott before emergency services arrived and "there were bodies on the ground, one of them had no stomach," he said. "It was terrible."

POPSEmployment and Insurance: What’s the Connection? The problem with insurance being tied to employment is that small businesses are not offered price breaks due to economies of scale. Small businesses are paying a proportionately higher cost than larger companies. And because of the growing number of uninsured Americans, cost shifting inevitably occurs. Additional health care costs are passed on to whoever is paying the bills – be that businesses or taxpayers. We taxpayers, businesses and individuals are paying to care for the uninsured, and we’re doing it in the most expensive way possible. As long as people continue to fall through the gaps, those who cannot afford healthcare through their employer or are unemployed, there will be a greater need for public policy to define a solution. Public policy should not be the only answer but instead should work with private industry to find a solution to cover all Americans.
