POPS The Amazing World of Cat’s Eye Macro Photography I adore my kitty cat. It is going to kill me when he goes to kitty cat heaven. The poor thing is 17 years old. He sleeps next to me every night. Wakes me up in the morning. Licks my face. I love him to death. But believe it or not, there is a quite large community of photographers who are into photographing cat eyes. So here are some of the more interesting images found on Flickr.

POPSWomen in the GDR by Sybille Bergemann [GDR fashion photography] The photographs of Berlin-born Sibylle Bergemann are awe-inspiring for one because of the diversity of their subject matter and second for their astonishing insights and sensitivity. Bergemann commands subjects such as fashion, reportage, photographic essays, urban and rural landscapes as well as portraits in an equally self-assured manner. At first known as a fashion photographer, she fast became noted for her photographic essays and her precise observations of hidden contexts.

POPSPortraits of Native Americans taken between 1915-1920 These prints were recently uncovered by Denver Post librarians, tucked away in a folder in a file cabinet. The captions were hand written on the back of each print. Along with the prints, a page of the Denver Post newspaper showed that the prints were featured in the January 30, 1974 newspaper. On the page, the following text accompanied the prints: William Pennington and Lisle Updike formed their business partnership about 1908 and opened a portrait studio in Durango, Colorado. The two young photographers supported themselves with their portrait business, but satisfied their artistic urges by traveling around the Four Corners area in a wagon taking pictures such as the ones in the clip.

POPS52 AMAZING Shots of Classic Cars Merging between both the art of photography and auto design can produce wonderful photography artwork that tell about the great classic cars design story through the history, no matter if these classic cars are shown in a gallery in a big city or parked on a far away deserted farm, but the beauty of the effect is the same and will never change.

POPSDangerous Beauty If you gave me a choice between facing a genuine and hostile ghost or being under one of these cloud formations, I'd have to take on the ghost, thank you very much. These photographers have some serious courage.

POPSI awoke last night to the sound of thunder... Hot damn, that's some Ghostbusters-style action there. I was in Marin a few years ago. The sky was bright blue and much less dramatic. The photographer captured an incredible shot. The photo has been viewed 194,337 times on Flickr. POPSWinners of the Lennart Nilsson Photography Award in Nature Babak A. Tafreshi's photographs reclaim a night sky that most modern people have lost. He takes us to remote places where the stars still look like they did at the dawn of mankind. His work calls to mind the beauty of the universe and human life on our planet."

POPSThe Ziegfeld Girls These are all girls who performed in the Ziegfeld Follies in the 1910's-20's. Some went on to further careers on the stage and screen...some disappeared into obscurity. I love this era of portraiture and the very sensual nature of these women.
