    Republicans Hit Poll Bottom, again

The withering slide in support for Republicans continues, now down to 19-20% in this latest poll. (Only our corrosive and toxic media might make it seem otherwise). The party deserves to be driven into extinction, due to misleading nations into a false war based on deliberate lies, endorsing the use of torture, violating civil and Constitutional rights, and for being nothing more than a Smear Machine trying to win votes based on fear and hate. The new president (despite the ceaseless rabble and rabid critics) continues to also live up to his campaign promises and has set the nation back on the right track in many important ways. The "Dark Side," is losing; as it should. GOP elephants going extinct. 80% of the nation turned off to their drivel.

This news, announce today, appears to have surprised almost everyone. But what is no surprise is that if you are on the side on warmongers, neocons, racist, those who ok torture, corporate exploitation of people and the land than you want to destroy this president. If you have hopes for peace, progress in alternative energies and new directions, national health care, unions and decent wages than this is the man who is on the frontlines fighting for these things. Closing down the suicidal plans for putting nuke missiles on the border with Poland was one clear change that we can see -- because it meant direct European and USA military conflict with Russia. This fact maybe lost in the madness of 24-hour news but it was 4sure. That dangerous and unnecessary Bush Era program is ended...and Obama gets attacked at home by the warmongers for "backing down to Russia." Obama: Less State Secrets

In the Bush Era many bad policies (torture, secret prisons, wiretappings, etc.) were covered up by being declared "state secrets." In a few court cases in the new Obama Administration, this was still the case because that was still the way the law, administrative procedure was. Now it's changed. No more easy covering up of wrongdoing by declaring it is a "secret." The new procedures certainly require more justice and more review.

Iran's proposal included efforts to curb nuclear weapons, so this should be interesting. Right now Western propganda says Iran MAY want nuke weapons someday...but if the focus gets to those countries that actually HAVE nuke weapons at least it would be talking about reality. Bush era politics refused to talk to Iran, so this is another progressive step forward for the Obama Administration: first the job creation and economic stimulus plans, health care reform on track to victory, withdrawal from Iraq going according to timetable/treaty deal, talking to Iran instead of threatening another war based on lies, first Hispanic/woman on Supreme Court, rolling back some unfair Bush era tax breaks for the Superrich, proposed regulations to stop Wall St. scams, restoring power to unions, equal pay for woman, end of torture, freeing Gitmo innocents and proceeding towards closing it down, etc. The country certainly is in better hands. 2010 elections the next big battle.      A whole generation grew up thinking the principle repeated over and over again at the war crime trials after WWII were true: That saying you "were only obeying orders," was not a defense. But former VP Cheney says it is, that "legal memos," given to the CIA said it was okay. Cheney also says torture is okay because "it helped save American lives." Obama is doing great damage to our country, making us less safe, Cheney contends, because 1) These methods are needed to keep us safe and 2) He is sapping the morale of our CIA by allowing the newly announced investigations of the torture program by the Dept. of Justice. Besides being "offended," Cheney also announced that he hasn't decided if he will cooperate with the DOJ investigation. Of course there are lots of holes in the argument. If Hitler had his Justice Dept. write him a memo saying it was okay to murder 6 million Poles and 5.5 million Jews and millions of union organizers and anti-war activist, would that make it o

These were the techniques the Bush and Cheney authorized and then successfully hid from exposure, claiming we can't let the terrorist know our tactics. Note: the steps towards official Dept. of Justice (the Obama DOJ, not the DOJ of the Bush nightmare years)...an official prosecution took another big step. 8AM today it was announced this was recommended. 10AM today Obama appointed Attorney General, Eric Holder, has asked a federal prosecutor John Durham to investigate. So...the Bush Administration ignored clearly stated warnings and had the biggest domestic attack on US soil in our history (Um...not counting the British and our own Civil War). Then they turned to Nazi-like tactics of torture, secret prisons, kidnapping, holding people without trail...even, btw, murder of POW's (we haven't got much coverage of that - yet.).      I think this is what this clip indicated. Prior to this, right away, the new President Obama said No More Torture, and some other positive things to reverse Bush era abuses (restoring proper judicial requirements for wiretaps, etc.) But now, instead of saying the CIA, the military and others must abide by proper standards and USA law...it more dramatically removes the CIA from this role of interrogations.      So, now we hear we were poking out eyes with power drills. But, (sniff), don't think we're bad people or anything. Several points come to mind. 1. The facts could be even worse than the reports. 2. The victim here was in a secret prison for 4 years, at least...but he's never had a trial, a lawyer, charges made against him...all we know is that men threatening to poke out his eyes with a power drill say he is a bad man. And them? Black opt torture with no justice in secret prisons...they are the good men? 3. I guess this means the torture trials are coming. 4. One "hope" of freedom, knowledge and democracy is that it MAY be self-healing. If these things were kept secret, the abuses would get worse. Somethings really sick and twisted in this USA post-WWII era of non-stop, endless worldwide wars. How long can they tell us this is for freedom and democracy? Assassination, btw, is officially against current USA law --- but the CIA, with the encouragement of Bush and Cheney, just decided to ignore this law --- and others laws as well: from torture to protection of civil rights: they felt, apparently, the law did not apply to them. That's always very dangerous, a dark road to fascism. Just 'restoring adherence to the law," by President Obama, has already made things better....better if you believe in human decency. It was incredible --- impossible -- hard to believe that an American (U.S.) military and/or government would so deprive prisoners and snub international law....but that was an image of Americans fed by non-stop propaganda war movies...and certainly perhaps more true in World War 2, not now. Such private armies, btw, are a real and very dnagerous sign of growing fascism. The founder of Blackwater, one of the largest, has just been implicated in court of murder, murder of some folks who were going to expose some of Blackwater's war crimes. Blackwater, btw, was forbidden to be in Iraq anymore...so they changed their name and now do their thing in Afghanistan. It's all sick and ugly. If you count the mercenaries the USA actually has about TWICE as many forces in Iraq, 300,000 or more. Plus, since they are not "official army," it's easier for them to get away with murder...being beyond direct military or Iraqi control.

That means subpoenas, that means other info from witnesses maybe coming out - that means the house of cards of the wanna be fascist Bush Administration is now starting to officially crumble. This one issue could lead to other issues and Other Issues now more likely, I think, (issues like torture and beating POWs to death in their cells) -- these more likely to also be investigated -- and the issue of corrupting the justice dept. for political selective prosecutions also appears high on the agenda. Not seeking vengence but I feel we need to set precedent....no man (or woman) is above the law...when you violate the Constitution you will pay a price...when you mislead a nation into war with deliberately fabricated lies you will pay a penality. Oh...btw, in the era where Fox News & CNN debates everything, assassinations are illegal. Torture, also, btw, is a war crime. (As well as the cover-up of the slaughter of thousands of Taliban prisoners, etc.) It's unfortunately true that such things have been done, throughout all of time and probably by most nations but a man making up his own little death lists is a classic evil to be feared...esp. when not even the leader of the country, and in secret.

In this clip, even conservative Republican Senator John McCain (who is against a torture investigation) now says - today on major TV Sunday news show -- that Cheney has to answer questions about this....that's the start. Karl Rove is finally, last week, being officially deposed by DOJ lawyers. This giving testimony, answering questions under oath, is also a start.      The lawsuit is against the lawyer in the Bush White House who wrote legal opinions justifying torture. The lawsuit is filed by a victim of torture, a U.S. native-born citizen who was held in prison, in indefinite detention for three years and tortured during that time. This is how the "system," is suppose to work. Torture is a crime. It's supposed to be handled in courts. This is very good to see - although I'd add a caution against utopian idealism. People have been hurt here. Core principles of our justice systems betrayed and broken. Hundreds of thousands killed by a war started with deliberately fabricated lies; it's not like they're is a cure-all, instant 'happy ending.' It's like if you're caught in an avalanche. What struck me? -- Well, more and more Big Lie cliches are being shouted around: the shooter was instantly perverted, for example, because he was a 'Holocaust Denier,' when (like Ahmadinejad of Iran) - they are not Denying the Holocaust they say it gets too much attention and is being used to cover up the crimes of Israel today. Investigate Torture, A Senator's Essay

It's a nice essay. I'd only disagree with the idea that "any," sort of investigation is sufficient. We need real justice, not a Congressional charade where folks give nice little speeches and call bad people names but nothing real happens. Real justice isn't perfect but it has more authority and validity. Take the simple question of what is evidence, what are the real confirmed facts? A 100 people talking doesn't decide that. A court decides that (right or wrong, hopefully right). Real justice is a cornerstone reference, a historical reference -- and a judgement is made. Plus, wrongdoing is suppose to have consequences or laws will be meaningless. Jail time. Legal consequences of a conviction (right to practice law, right to vote). Probation. Cash fines. That's what it comes down to and thats what we need but even fine essays like this -- from a long time anti-Iraw war Senator (mainly ignored) --avoid hitting the nail on the head: Justice - accountability.

Torture is against Internation law In March 2008 Bush vetoed Congressional legislation outlawing torture. New legislation was later passed officially approving waterboarding & other modes of torture (John McCain voted in favor of this approval) Approving torture and approving totally allowed spying on citizens without specific warrants or reasons are two fatall steps towards full-fledged fascism. This documentation of these White House memos would document Bush/Cheney & other White Houses officials of war crimes OR complicity in war crimes. If these officials can get away with this now, not only does the corruption and descent of our nation deepen now but makes it more probably that such evils will happen in the future. (Having private armies is another classic step down the road to fascism -- like Blackwater, like other "private security contractors.") Ruling by fear and lies, etc. The legacy of George Bush will be that he's the first president to be tried for

This is what happens when you begin spying on all citizens without need for warrants or any controls at all, which has been typical of the Bush White House. Things like approving torture, holding prisoners in jail for years and years -- indefinite detention -- deprived of all legal rights, not allowed to communicate with their families who might not even know where they went, deprived of visits even from the Red Cross. It's one step at a time. It's doing things like this we've never done before -- war crimes. First to foreigners, then it seeps into doing it to your own. Easily done, next, one candidate for Congress arranges to get another candidate for Congress put on the list. Someone in office doesn't like someone: Put him on the list, etc. Spy on nun's because they're against the death penality. Spy on other political views you don't like - even though the people involved Have Absolutely Nothing To Do With Violence or Terrorism. Step by step into real fascism. Vote

McCain Claims Obama Dishonorable & Dangerous

This site has been put up by the Obama campaign: http://www.keatingeconomics.com/ This site, above, tells the truth and gives facts about the last banking scandal -- in which John McCain was involved. The guy at the center of the scandal went to jail. McCain got officially censored by the Senate. It's the Republicans who have PROVED themselves dishonorable and dangerous -- who led us into the black stupid hole of Iraq War -- who destroyed our economy. We can't let these warmongers and liars continue to rule our country. We need to Defeat Republicans! Now. Later start the war crime trials and trials for shredding the Constitution and deliberately leading a nation into war based on lies, torture against the Geneva convention, etc. These vampires and blood suckers will not die till we drive a firm stake into their hearts. Every word out of their mouths is false and dangerous. Vote Obama.

    Judge Orders Gitmo Prisoners Released!

Thank God. Seeing my country involved in arresting people without cause, not allowing them legal representation, communication with family, no visits from the International Red Cross, not giving them their day in court, holding them for 'indefinite detention," keeping them imprisoned -- in this case -- for seven years -- and documented torture and abuse of such prisoners -- it's all pretty disgusting. And more disgusting that these prisoners were also used for propaganda about how these alleged evil men were out to harm us. And disgusting that thick-headed rednecks, neocon neofascist, and other warmongers went around waving flags about all this and claiming "God was on their side." -- and accusing us as the one's being 'unpatriotic,' when we were the most patriotic of all. What sickness! What lies! DEFEAT ALL REPUBLICANS is now Step #1 Step #2 is seeing Bush and Cheney in jail; and all those who aided and abetted their crimes. The good news? -- this can be done.

USA Running out of Money to build roads/bridges

I realize economic issues don't have the drama of war but the way Wall Street & Congress has recently transferred TRILLIONS of dollars of debt to the government is astounding. Wall St. & Congress have risked as much taxpayers money that could have paid for 16 years of *@#$%-over Iraq. Now we can't pay to build or repair our own roads and bridges. Be sure to notice the clear statement: "Until Friday the White House has been hostile to it." (i.e. hostile to the approval of money for roads and bridges,) --- because already Bush is trying to blame it on the Democrats. For God's sake, could there be anything more basic to provide for a nation? Bridges are collapsing. New Orleans is still not rebuilt three years later. Joblessness hits a 5-year high. Wall St. transfers trillions of dollars of bad debt to the government, we're guilty of torture and other war crimes, we've murdered maybe half-a-million Iraqi who had nothing to do with 9/11 or WMD's. bin Laden is still alive an

USA Attorney General says today he doesn't know if waterboarding is legal or not; This is the nations top lawyer. You'd figure he' have more of an opinion than: "I don't know." The AG also says: "We don't torture." This all the more outrageous because video tapes of USA torture/waterboarding were destroyed so they couldn't be evidence. Plus there are all the images of Abu Garaib prison all over the web. !? It's almost beyond words to describe but fortunately the basics will do: The USA Attorney General is deceptive. He is also not honorable, not true to his word. He is now part of the White House plot to cover up the very exsistence or admission of waterboarding. He's smirky. Gads. Our nation's top lawyer is smirky. I wish I could think of other words or phrases to describe this 'disconnect,' this "lack of coherence," in one's presentation, this clearly displayed dislocation between reality and legal charade shell game. Any other expresseion to describe this?

It appears some Yanks (many, actually) still refuse to accept their nation now practices torture, kidnapping of suspects, rendition, imprisonment without legal representation, imprisonment without access to the Red Cross, imprisonment without any contact with family or the outside world, imprisonment without a trial, and indefinite detention.- -- all violations of the Geneva Convention besides USA law and previous democratic principles and foundation -- all that now ripped to shreds by Bush, Republican warmongers and so-called 'neo-cons.' The new elections can't come soon enough.
