Obama Stands Up to the Military
    citizenbfk
    by citizenbfk  10-18-2009
Despite recent months of Pentagon "leaks," and lobbying the White House is not rolling over to military demands. This action is almost unprecedented, taking great courage and political determination. Our military is suppose to be controlled and led by civilian, political leaders; not by generals. If Obama didn't deserve the Nobel Peace Prize award before (and he did); he certainly deserves it now.

UN War Crime Accusations called Anti-Semitic.

    by citizenbfk  10-18-2009
The first thing to point out is that the South African judge in charge of this UN report is Jewish. So calling the report "anti-Semetic," is bizarre. Secondly, all criticism of Israel gets called "anti-Semetic," and this is an extreme example of that. (Since the judge in charge of the report is Jewish). No? Third, Most people are making their judgements based on actions -- like the blockade genocide in the Gaza Strip. It's fair enough and in fact moral to condemn this blockade (and it has nothing to do with racism). If racist accusation were allowed to avoid any criticism then during the evil rule of Hitler in Germany, he should have deflected any criticism by calling it "anti-German racism." No? Distress at the genocide of the Palestinian people, the slow starvation of over a million and a half people in the Gaza strip, has nothing to do with racism. End the blockade and much criticism would also end. It's a shame this ploy distract from looking at the real issues

"Global Islamic Terrorism." --- the phrase of the New Crusades, the propaganda for long term worldwide war Sounds pretty slick. Rolls off the tongue easily. Doesn't take much thought. Creates a nice evil image of the enemy. But...Palestine is not fighting for Islam. It's fighting for it's homes. Afghanistan is not fighting for Islam. It's fighting for it's homes. Iraq is not fighitng for Islam. It's fighting to get it's country back from invaders who started the war based on deliberate fabricated lies. I hope more of us wake up to this and point it out, put it down where and when we see it: we're being sold a false bill of goods....the USA declaring worldwide wars outside the bounds of it's own Constitution, and using lies and propaganda and a one-sided view of who's right and excusing all it's own wrongs. ONE AND A HALF MILLION PEOPLE KILLED IN IRAQ! - someone said at the UN podium yesterday. And not one WMD. Who's the real terrorist? The real warmongers. T

This is a reasonable summary of the Iranian president's speech. Surprises? He says he wants to see the elimination of all WMD's -- and this would be a surprise if you believe propaganda that he wants nuke weapons and turn a blind eye to the fact that Israel has WMD's. 2. He doesn't want to drive Israel into the sea (more false propaganda). He wants a two-state solution. 3. He thinks the slow starvation of a million and a half people in the Gaza Strip is genocide. (This led to the walkout of many). 4. He doesn't deny the Holocaust (never has) but continues to annoy Zionist by asking why this is a topic of special concern to Arabs and Iran, pointing out there have been other great massacres and genocides and that 60 million were killed in WWII and he's sorry about all of that. 5. He thinks of U.S. actions in Iraq and Iran as invasions, doesn't like them and says there are still secret prisons, Gitmo, and bad deeds going on. (All true). 6. We need spiritual values. Too m

WH Response to More Troop Request

This incomplete and unconfirmed story, aka "leak," hints that the President may not go along with the Pentagon request for more troops in Afghanistan. Although, that's still just a "leak," right now and there has been no official request for more troops. It seems we're once again in a "battle of the leaks," -- people sending out anonymous ideas and checking out the responses. The rabid right-wing will make up lies and jump on everything to smear Obama...and there are some landmine issues that could cripple any president: 1. Backing down to the Russians....a big American no-no...and that's now claimed, plus: 2. Not supporting troops/war -- 3. Not offering special deals and blind, uncritical support for Israel. Yet, the President appears to be keeping his head straight, despite the rabid right -- defeating Al-Qaeda makes sense, at least. Nation building and long term in Afghanistan....where did that idea come from? Or War in Iraq? -- build on lies. War in Iran?

Statements by Berlusconi and other's in his administration appear contradictory. But on Italian TV he said: "We are all convinced it's best for everybody to get out soon." While it makes a lot of sense to want to capture and/or kill Osama bin Laden and his Al Qaeda leadership, George Bush twisted that into War in Iraq and this War in Afghanistan...and it seems the guys we're looking for aren't in either of those places. So Western Pakistan is also being ripped up. Of course the war in Iraq we know was built on deliberately fabricated lies....the beating of war drums to start a War in Iran is built on propaganda and lies (Iran has no WMD's)...and much of this appears to be excuses for old-fashioned imperialism. Old-fashioned imperialism sucks, imo. Obama Delays Afghanistan Troop Decision

The generals want more troops. Or, at least, these are the "leaks," from the Pentagon and the head general, Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff, is testifying in Congress now and is saying we "probably," need more troops. If listening to Fox News or CNN it almost sounds like the President approved more troops. But he has not. The President is not going to make a decision on troop increases anytime soon. I, personally, think he should ask a few more generals to resign, tell the Republicans: "You Lie!," and continue to stand strong against the racist, warmongers, neocons and zionist extremist that continue to try to rule with Hate & Fear.

Almost nobody in the USA cares about this, btw. We call it "collateral damage." When Yanks wake up, have their breakfast, decide upon who we should be murdering now, the world is a simply place, laid out like a game of Risk. We move our troops over here, over there and it's "unfortunate," we kill woman and children but it's just the price of war. The price of war is not that high....if you're not the one paying it. Oh...we call ourselves NATO now. Like Iraq this is all part of a grand Coalition: we're just doing our part. If you look at the Risk Game, a global war against all Muslims makes a lot of sense: The Chinese fight "Muslim extremist," The Russians fight "Muslim extremist. NATO is on board. This also helps keep our troops in shape and our weapons updated. We're starting to get a few good movies out of it too. We have to take over Nigeria, too.      What an act of insane massacre. And this is just one chapter in a multi-volume murderous campaign. And while the USA is 12,000 miles away burning opium fields in Afghanistan -- (while the opium crop in Turkey is used for medicines) -- this goes on in our backyard and inner cities. If leaders DID learn from history you'd think they should know that the policy of Prohibition (against booze) led to gang wars and murderous violence, out-of-control, non-stoppable. But the Drug Wars are a nice excuse for covert wars or sounding like you're "doing good," -- and a handy way to put lots of citizens in jail, esp. those who are more 'non-conformist." The U.S. has a myth/story of the 'Valentine's Day Massacre.' but this is far worse...yet we continue to rerun our old B&W charade stories while vivid reality is exploding all around. IMO: Legalize it. Tax it. Get out of debt. Use the Afghan opium crop for medicines. Stop the covert drug wars. Free the prisoners. Stop waving our flag f

U.S. Military Wants to Double Troops in Afghanistan

In this era of Lifetime War Everywhere, U.S. military leaders here and on political talk shows now say they need more troops. What a surprise. This way, when they fail, they can blame it on Obama. It's like the recent prison riots in the U.S. The prison authorities say the problem is they need more money, weapons and training. But...maybe part of the problem is having cruel prisons with the largest percent prison population in the world, many for non-violent, victimless so-called crimes. But, large prisons, a lifetime of endless worldwide wars, does help their budgets grow and grow and if anything goes wrong...well, they will say it's just because they didn't get enough support rather than see they were idiots and failures. Note too, in this clip, Afghanistan is now described as a "NATO mission." -- another common tactic in this new Lifetime of Endless Worldwide Wars....it's not just U.S. -- it's NATO or the UN. Truth & right do count, though. So losing is inevitable

The use of so-called "private security contractors," -- i.e. mercenaries by the USA for extraordinary rendition (and torture) is now a U.N. issue. Such private armies, btw, are a real and very dnagerous sign of growing fascism. The founder of Blackwater, one of the largest, has just been implicated in court of murder, murder of some folks who were going to expose some of Blackwater's war crimes. Blackwater, btw, was forbidden to be in Iraq anymore...so they changed their name and now do their thing in Afghanistan. It's all sick and ugly. If you count the mercenaries the USA actually has about TWICE as many forces in Iraq, 300,000 or more. Plus, since they are not "official army," it's easier for them to get away with murder...being beyond direct military or Iraqi control.

(& TV reports describe the military implying he left his weapon and body armor behind...maybe mentally unstable) -- ugh...! The propaganda about the recently shot down helicopter though, is striking. Because our captive soldier mentioned this event from last week we get to hear the Taliban version of events. The Taliban outrageously declare the helicopter was carrying troops. We (and I actually heard this version on TV news)...we claim the helicopter was carrying "civilians on a reported humanitarian mission." Gads! It's a cliche that the first casualty of war is the truth, now we get to see it. (We've been forced fed it the last 8 years). Wouldn't it make more sense...wouldn't it actually be SANITY to vote on the content of one issue at a time? Especially when it's an issue of war?      There are many aspects of this story that are real-world and politically significant. 1. President Obama just got rid of a general This is not an everyday event. I thought he should have done this -- but it was such a 'way out there," idea I kept it to myself. Now he's done it. Gads (And he's taking away unfair SuperRich tax breaks, gads!). It's hard to keep up with the man who's like bulldozing a new road across America - foreign and domestic, militarily and diplomatically. Anyhow, firing a general is good. It keeps all the other generals in line. It lets them know who's boss, who's calling the shots. Generals are not our leaders, they are our servants...but they tend to foreget this and build their own lillte military world domination machine like a railroad fanatic might construct model railroads. 2. Old general was slow general. New general is actually going to gear up and go hunting for bin Laden, at last. (not invading Iraq, etc). Good luck, sir. Get him & then

Obama's come into office with more mess than Vietnam and with apparently the same political dictum: "We can't be defeated." This is a good idea if talking about defending your country but no such a great idea when it forces you to defend foreign aggression started with deliberately fabricated lies (the the UK and USA) in a no-win situation. It's also becoming clear that now another nation, Pakistan, is being identified as a problem. More info on other thread about this. I think I finally sense a 'master plan." Obama can't allow the "Fall of Kabul," so he's going to let the Russians back in (as they are asking). The U.S. doesn't like Muslims with nukes so this means take-over or "regime changes,' in Pakistan and to make this most 'hard and real,' Obama will let India in (as part of ongoing working together), eventually occupying Southern Pakistan. I rate it as a dangerous country (and the USA no better) just for the fact that it knows how to lie like the UK and USA, etc. -- but I believe it has carefully thought about it's actions and is now using significant power. In one week the U.S. Afghanistan supply base in a former Soviet territory is ordered to shut down; the route for supplies to Afghanistan through Pakistan is shut down due to a major bridge blow up. Oil and gas supplies to Europe are turned on and off at will. It's building bases in the Georgia area, after defeating a U.S. sponsored Georgian invasion of former Soviet territories. It's backed down, I believe, the Bush Evil Empire plans for putting nuclear weapons on it's border, in Poland. It is splitting NATO and re-establishing a second Warsaw Pact. The prime illegal use of drugs is of prescription drugs. One of the drugs that does the most damage to self and society is booze. In reality, if this was done it was done by USA troops but like in Iraq they say "Coalition Forces," when there is no real coalition: There are approx 158,000 USA troops, 140,000 USA paid mercenaries and 'private security contractors,' 3 troops from Latvia, 11 soldiers from Moldova, , 37 fine men from the Ukraine, 40 soldiers from Estonia, 70 fighting Albanians, etc. -- all of them pressured or bribed to participate except for Merry Old England with 5,500 approx. troops, loyal Australia with 900 -- (& 2,000 Georgians now gone).
