About me
A lifetime activist who felt the Bush Administration was hideous, betraying my nation's best ideals, shredding our Constitution and misleading our nation through the worst eight nightmare years in our history;

...starting a false war for false reasons, failing to kill or capture bin Laden, guilty of war crimes like torture, failing to rebuild or help New Orleans, failing to sustain jobs and build infrastructure, guilty of a politics of smear, insult and personal destruction, and has ceaselessly continued to divide the country with hate and fear.

Thus, I was an enthusiast and hopeful supporter of Barrack Obama for President of the USA. and have been rewarded with following his extraordinarily successful campaign, contributed what little I could, and felt tremendous pride and joy in his victory.

During those ugly Bush years is was hard to even speak the truth, to protect our civil liberties, to stop the false wars for false reasons.

Now -- the future looks bright.
Why I use Clipmarks
It's proved to be the most interesting forum for me, liking how it's discussions revolve around specific clips.

It's interesting to follow guides, find out who the guides are following and build up a network of interesting folks who following topics I'm interested in.

It's easy to add your own clips & comments. I also like the way clips and comments can be sent (and sometimes automatically be sent) to other forums and blogs (like Newsvine, Digg, etc.)

The participation of folks from several nations also makes it interesting and it good to get different perspectives of things and engage in discussion and debate.

There are some real cool people here; and the pain's in the butt can easily be avoided.

Candidate promises of "greater," Iraq withdrawal
citizenbfk

 First actual real vote for USA president in two days, in the state of Iowa. Then in about a month most of the other major states will have decided. It hard to know who to vote for, esp. with the high level of deceit, deception and false promises in politics. When Hilary Clinton says and claims she wants to get out of Iraq it appears to mean to reduce troops by 50%. When Obama says he wants to get out of Iraq it sounds like troop reductions to 25%; and no more free lunches for war profiteers. Now, bold Johnny Edwards promises an 88% troop withdrawal, with more name-changers as to what we call these troops (i.e., call them 'trainers,' rather than combat troops; call them counterterrorist forces rather than an occupying arms, etc.) Is this like 'withdrawing,' from sex but still having sex? Or stopping smoking, but just smoke less? Eating on a diet, etc.? guess this is progress in Alice in Wonderland. But we still have to vote for the most reasonable lies we like, I sup

$700 billion defense policy bill passes

 Passed yesterday. Almost no mention of it. All efforts to halt or limit the war deleted. News report confusing. The leaders of the Democratic Party appear to believe, as others have suggested, that there best way to win the most in the 2008 elections is to NOT do anything to oppose the war -- because that might backfire against them. Yet, take advantage of the fact there IS strong anti-war feelings that will hurt the Republican Party. (With an assumption that the anti-war "lefties & liberals," have no choice but to vote for them anyhow; since there is no way the "lefties & liberals" would vote Republican. This COULD BE very astute, and the way candidate/Senator Hillary Clinton would like the most, she being a "centralist," and not wanting to be labeled "lefty or liberal." Those who die between now and then are dying for politics 2008. Also in today's news: Obama was a drug dealer.

White House 'neo-cons,' snubbing Iran since 2003

 What else is new? Well, actually when the US declared the presence of Iranian speedboats buzzings around the Gulf as "provacative,' I thought that was amazingly new. Imagine. The USAhreating war against Iran, threatening sactions against Iran, trying to stop Iran from developing nuclear power in an energy hungry world, insisting that Iran wants to develop and build nuclear weapons, attacking and occupying it's neighbors to the west and east (surrounding Iran), sending another aircraft carrier fleet -- the biggest war ship in the world -- sending it onto Iran's doorstep; and now to then declare Iran has started to act 'provocative." Nasty Irarnians and their speedboats! If we don't stop them there they'll be hounding us in New York Harbor.

 Really...this White House is out of control, going to war and war even when against the will of Congress and the American people, and yesterday Cheney basic said on national TV, "If you don't like it you can..."
