POPSU.S Supreme Court v. Guantánamo
It's great to see one of the most fundamental principles of the US Constitution (& Anglo-American law) is declared and will be restored: The right of an accused person to have a trial, to have "their day in court." For six years now 300 people (more - or less, at time) have been held without trial or even without specific charges of what crimes they did. It feels good that this one of the Bush's administration's evils is undone but feels bad that it was able to be done at all. Even in victory the law is often cruel. The men still sit in jail. Even though ordered to have trials for the prisoners delays and more delays can be expected. Who knows? Maybe some will even be found guilty? Although I've heard that several were really "set-ups," just so some warlord could collect a bounty and others just bodyguards or chauffeurs -- yet the military was able to use them for it's propaganda to keep the country in fear. But the court confirms indefinite detentions are what we should

POPSImpeach Bush Resolution - One More Try
Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated that there will be no consideration of impeachment proceedings against Bush and said the idea was "off the table." So I guess this means this second effort is also going nowhere. Why does the Democratic leadership continue to refuse to do this? Is having oral sex in the White House with a willing 24-year old worse that killing 5,000 US troops, killing over 100,000 Iraqi citizens, displacing millions, spending trillions, etc.? At least the 35 points for impeachment that Kucinich spelled out are a nice summary of Bush's war crimes and may prove useful after Bush leaves office. Unfortunately, while the Democrats must be voted for this election,IMO, they seems to have no guts for a real showdown, not wanting to "upset the apple cart," as they trundle along to a presumed election landslide. Who knows? Maybe they have a point; although if Bush attacks Iran that point is quite lost. Note: None of this was printed in a USA newspaper.

POPS Karl Rove Unraveling: Congress threatens arrest.
ormer White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan writes in a surprisingly scathing memoir to be published next week that President Bush “veered terribly off course,” was not “open and forthright on Iraq,” ALSO, RE; ROVE, McClellan asserts that Karl Rove, the president’s senior adviser, “Scooter” Libby and VP Cheney had a meeting on how to handle the Valarie Plame CIA leak case (i.e. a collusion in a Federal case) NOW a Congresswoman on the Judiciary Committee, said on TV yestereday that if Rove doesn't show up for a subpoena --- concerning the Siegelman's case. ---CONGRESS WILL ARREST HIM! Who knew Congress could arrest people!? (like a parliament deciding to arrest someone). Well, it turns out there is actually a one room jail in Congress and they can send out the 'sergeant at arms,' and (without the police or courts), go out and arrest someone. Whew! This just keeps getting -- as Alice in Wonderland cried -- ''Curiouser and curiouser!" Isn't it great! The wheels

POPSGreen Zone looking like Sitting Duck
I was just thinking how the recent fighting in Baghdad, focused around the Green Zone and Sard City, had comparisons to the Tet Offensive in Vietnam, and those pictures of the US helicopters fleeing of the roof of the Hanoi US embassy. As a sidenote, It is interesting how an indigenous force uses the terrain and the weather while an occuping army fights against it. Could you imagine the US Army planing actions around sandstorms? I read that in Vietnam the Vietnamese quickly realized US actions, especially air strikes, always took a break for lunch. The USA should negotiate some final political settlement and get out of Iraq. I note there is a lot of the now-common propaganda between the lines involving latest battles, such as the idea the US is battling an "army." It is not an "army." It is a militia. It's made up of citizen soldiers mainly from their own neighborhoods. Compared to the US Army they are like fleas on the back of a dog; fleas that are apparently hard

POPSJeremiah Wright or Jeremiah Wrong? This is a brief commentary worth reading. The viral video of Rev. Jeremiah Wright is a ticking time bomb on the road to the USA Elections of 2008. His words and ideas are also a profound challenge to the policies and attitudes of the USA in the Middle East, Iraq, Iran, etc. -- as well as the policies, past and present, of race in the USA.

POPSJerusalem rabbi school killings. UN condemn? I agree with Libya and the others who stopped this from becoming a one-sided resolution (despite the support of Canada, the USA and the EU). Why was there no move for such a UN resolution last week when Israeli killed 120 Palestinians civilians?? Or why no such resolution when that Russian school was taken over and many killed a few years ago. Why not a resolution about school shooting in the USA and other nations by deranged individuals? The POINT is we have an undue and excessive focus on Israel and are totally one-sided in our attitudes. Are 120 Palestinian dead last week somehow less important than 8 Israeli dead this week? Israel invaded these Arab lands in 1947, if you don't know, and one of the consequences of 60 years of invasion is hate, war, and murder. And as Canada, the USA and the EU watch over a million people in Gaza being starved to death in front of our eyes the UN does nothing. Now the UN is concerned?

POPSAmericans Dumb: And Proud of It. Although I suppose if this author can quote a writer from the 19th century and use words like 'jeremiads' that not Everyone has drunk the kool-aid of anti-intellectualism; or at least not completely. Personally, continuing to be modest as usual I never vaunted intelligence as a scorecard for superiority but recently realized, not that I was smart, but that lots of other folks were dumb as dirt. They haven't a clue (nor concern) about valid history and a recent poll indicated that most Yanks can not name the four books of the Christian Bible. Can not name the four books of the Bible? Think that the American Civil War was fighting against the Germans? Etc. I guess this is why our dumb President has to explain the war as "fighting against the bad guys." Duh! P.S. > Lots of folks are far more smartie then me be, two, BTW.

POPSChinese 'Sexy Photo Gate" Battle
With a headline like: "Lurid images tell a tawdry tale," it's hard to skip over. & the idea that the posting of 'lurid photos,' of Chinese celebrities has become a Battle for Internet Freedom is also intriguing. also here a twist on a famous saying of nChinese Revolution leader, Chairman Mao...who, while being a bit of a thug leader said something good about the idea of freedom, saying 'let a thousand flowers grow,' and now... Now the Chinese Netizens have posted: "When one IP address is shut down, a hundred thousand spring up/When one identity is shut down, a hundred thousand spring up. Also !? Can it really be true that a Chinese bishop in Hong Kong quoted the "Speak no evil, see no evil and hear no evil proverb, claiming it was part of The Bible? So,...Sexy Photos? Netizens? Chairman Mao? POPSBank Bailout Bill Begins
I did this big video job on 'Safety Training for Zookeepers, but to customer went broke because a tiger escaped and killed two people and they got sued. "We can't afford to pay for the safety film now," they said. I told the government and they said they would help and buy the video tapes from me. "We'll give you more money than you'd get if you erased the tapes and pay you to re-edit the film so it might be able to be shown on the Home Improvement Channel.: Nice government, I thought. They also give subsidies to Exxon, which declared today it made more money IN HISTORY than any US corporation. I'm glad they get the subsidies and glad the government gives me money in case any job falls through. So this 20-billion to the mortgage banks to pay off all their bad loans sounds like a good idea to me. Nice too that not only did they get big fees and resale profits on the bad loans but that now we can pay 'em to 'restructure,' the loans and sell them to us." (Note: I'm being

POPSTorture not illegal because we don't do it.
USA Attorney General says today he doesn't know if waterboarding is legal or not; This is the nations top lawyer. You'd figure he' have more of an opinion than: "I don't know." The AG also says: "We don't torture." This all the more outrageous because video tapes of USA torture/waterboarding were destroyed so they couldn't be evidence. Plus there are all the images of Abu Garaib prison all over the web. !? It's almost beyond words to describe but fortunately the basics will do: The USA Attorney General is deceptive. He is also not honorable, not true to his word. He is now part of the White House plot to cover up the very exsistence or admission of waterboarding. He's smirky. Gads. Our nation's top lawyer is smirky. I wish I could think of other words or phrases to describe this 'disconnect,' this "lack of coherence," in one's presentation, this clearly displayed dislocation between reality and legal charade shell game. Any other expresseion to describe this?

POPSBig Brother Bank's Robbery Explained
Most times we don't see the outrageous greed behind the scenes of banking, and in the relationship of banks to governments. Such crimes are not as dramatic as a man in a black hat with a gun stealing a purse from an old lady on the street: The picture is not that clear. But more get's stolen using a lawyers briefcase and a banker's ledger than any guns, 4sure. The current so-called 'sub-prime' bad loans mess, though, might give us a glimpse of what is going on --- what is always going on: The big boys get the bucks and for the sake of show a few crumbs are cast out to the peasants. We all knew that, anyway...I think? But here, in the 2nd edition of my Political Action News, there are good details and insights into it all., IMHO. Of course I WILL try to refrain (maybe) from posting my own web writing (if I can) ...but I guess it's no different than putting words here in these clips. POPSLatest Pretense for Two-State Solution & Middle East Peace
Here's how Israel's 'fart-in-your-face" diplomacy works: A week before the Great Decider/The Peacemaker George Bush arrives (and this was done last year with Coni Rice's visit, and the year before that, etc.) -- well, a week before the start of the Great Peace Deal, Israel expands it's settlements, it starts construction in the Arab half of Jerusalem, it announces there is no Arab half of Jerusalem, it shuts off fuel deliveries and electricity to Gaza, tightens the blocakde and progresses with the slow starvation of over a million people right in front of our eyes, continues with collective punishment attacking whole vilages for the actions of a few. It then gets a deal, part of which the Arabs give up something (right of return) and the part of the deal where they have to give up something (the expansion beyond the 67 borders) is never honored, never intended to be honor, and will later be defaulted due to "ongoing Arab terrorism." (i.e. one suicide bomber, or whatever).

POPSIran-USA Naval Confrontation Fabricated? Man...there's no way the USA would ever make up false reasons to start a war. What do you think this is: Another Gulf of Tonkin. Just because we have three (3) aircraft carrier fleets with hundreds and hundreds of jets and cruise missiles going back and forth along their coast line doesn't give them the right to intimidate us. We got a right to sail in International Waters with combat fleets 10,000 miles from home and they have no right to sail 12 miles off their coast and ask who we are: We're just not going to take these challenges anymore. Something has to be done. And the liberal namby-pamby claims that the audio on these tapes (added separately) are not actually Iranian voices and we don't know where this audio came from is just sheer caving into the enemy. POPSNew Hampshire to Recount Primary Votes
Oh oh....more election fraud already? If it was for the seriously believed facts and concerns of election fraud in 2000 & election fraud in 2004, gosh, it would be hard to believe. What's hard to believe, 4sure, is that a nation that can put a man on the moon is unable to have a nationwide method of elections people can believe in. It's a fascist cliché that "it's not how many votes that count, but who counts the votes." Have we come to that? I'll guess we'll find out soon enough. Behind the scenes story of this under-reported story is that in the areas where the machines were used Obama won, but in the areas the machines were used Obama lost (by a thin margin). One wrong thing, 4sure, is the machine votes were counted in secrecy, by a private corporation! That's wrong. In the good old days of better democracy votes were counted in public, with representatives of all political parties present. "One small step backwards for a man but one giant step backwards for m

POPSCandidate promises of "greater," Iraq withdrawal
First actual real vote for USA president in two days, in the state of Iowa. Then in about a month most of the other major states will have decided. It hard to know who to vote for, esp. with the high level of deceit, deception and false promises in politics. When Hilary Clinton says and claims she wants to get out of Iraq it appears to mean to reduce troops by 50%. When Obama says he wants to get out of Iraq it sounds like troop reductions to 25%; and no more free lunches for war profiteers. Now, bold Johnny Edwards promises an 88% troop withdrawal, with more name-changers as to what we call these troops (i.e., call them 'trainers,' rather than combat troops; call them counterterrorist forces rather than an occupying arms, etc.) Is this like 'withdrawing,' from sex but still having sex? Or stopping smoking, but just smoke less? Eating on a diet, etc.? guess this is progress in Alice in Wonderland. But we still have to vote for the most reasonable lies we like, I sup

POPS$700 billion defense policy bill passes Passed yesterday. Almost no mention of it. All efforts to halt or limit the war deleted. News report confusing. The leaders of the Democratic Party appear to believe, as others have suggested, that there best way to win the most in the 2008 elections is to NOT do anything to oppose the war -- because that might backfire against them. Yet, take advantage of the fact there IS strong anti-war feelings that will hurt the Republican Party. (With an assumption that the anti-war "lefties & liberals," have no choice but to vote for them anyhow; since there is no way the "lefties & liberals" would vote Republican. This COULD BE very astute, and the way candidate/Senator Hillary Clinton would like the most, she being a "centralist," and not wanting to be labeled "lefty or liberal." Those who die between now and then are dying for politics 2008. Also in today's news: Obama was a drug dealer.

POPSBush denied "Foot in Mouth Award.
I think this is grossly unfair: Bush's regular slips into incoherence, nonsense, non sequiturs, and mashed metaphors deserve first place. "The childrens must be educated," is one of my favorite. And his question: "Is our children learning?" And "As yesterday's positive report card shows, childrens do learn when standards are high and results are measured." The fact that all these "childrens," sentences were about his discredited education program only makes it worse. But it's a tough job, as he pointed out: "My job is a decision-making job, and as a result, I make a lot of decisions. I am the decider," If this is not the Pink Elephant in the room where is the 800-pound gorilla? Perhaps this? “I heard somebody say, ‘Where’s Mandela?’ Well, Mandela’s dead because Saddam Hussein killed all the Mandelas.” Because, you know, "All of us in America want there to be fairness when it comes to justice." POPSO&O: Oprah rallies for Obama. Raw footage of the political events staged this last weekend by Oprah & Obama made it superclear to me, IMHO, This guy is worth voting for, especially in the primaries, even if he loses: He's that good. That sure resolves a lot of issue, for me. Rather than just yank yank yank critic and complain, fight against the horrid status quo, try to kick out all the bad guys --- instead, just vote for Obama. Campaign for Obama. Gosh...it feels like being baptized or something. The "deciding factor," was getting inspired by the rap, getting that taste of hope and idealism once again. Almost hard to believe it. It's true what Oprah said: "We don't have to just dream the dream anymore. We get to vote that dream into reality." That would be cool.

POPS"Hillary haters," and now/today - hostage taking terrorist
This 'Hillary Haters," article is two days old. The hostage taking of campaign workers at her New Hampshire Presidential Campaign HQ is two hours ago. What to say? One thing to note is that warmongers, fascist, most Republicans, zionist, neo-cons, nazi's, KKK folks, etc. --- people with hate in their hearts -- are not nice. They don't play by the rules. They can be mean, ruthless, violent and destructive. Thus it's always difficult for "nice people," people who like the idea of developing alternative energy rather than killing over oil, or people who don't like USA torturing, believe in habius corpus rights, feels bad about helping the slow starvation and collective punishments of Gaza, etc....well, it's tought. "nice people," have to be as tough as "bad people." That sort of sucks but it's living in dreamland not to realize it. Obama life has been threatened. Now Hillary's headquarters attacked. POPSBush puppet video: More War or Less Jobs
At least Bush is providing a lot of stimulus for the creative arts. This threat to suspend without pay over a hundred thousand civilian worker unless he get's his next dose of war funding is true. How pathetic. Like a poor loser on the playground who threatens to take his ball and go home. Of course the fact that the "limits" on the war that Bush is objecting to is another Democrat charade, with "more holes than Swiss cheese," that would allow the war to continue and continue and continue puts many of us in a quandry: Advocate the pretense and charade of the Democrat bill or just sit back and watch Bush veto it (if it ever passes). Decisions. Decisions. The key deceit is this "anti-war," resolution, HR 4156 allows troops to stay to "protect American assets." These "assets," include the 14 or 15 permanent military bases being built for a long-term occupation; part of the war plans from the beginning. Humm...maybe Obama would do the least damage.? POPSBush knew truth, claims former WH Press Secretary
This is a core of the so-called: "CIA Leak Case." It might be better named: "The Attempted Cover-Up of using Deliberate Fabrication about Iraq having Weapons of Mass Destruction." Like a tangled ball of yarn , the government propaganda on this core deceit leading to Iraq war is so knotted, tied up, and deliberately confused that it's hard to straighten out the skein...but it goes something like this: #1. White House, neo-cons, & warmongers make up deliberate lies claiming Iraq had and/or was seeking to build WMD's, re: 'Buying yellowcake from Niger." #2. Former ambassador sent by CIA to fact check this. He reports back it's not true. USA VP Dick Cheney suppresses this report and claims of WMD's by Iraq are put in prime-time President's 'State of the Union Speech." #3. This former ambassador says this ain't right. He is slandered. His wife exposed as CIA agent by VP Cheney and henchmen. (weird, no!?) This news, today, CONFIRMS: Bush also conspired in this coverup.

POPSUS Army desertion rates up 80% since 2003 The real facts of this illegitimate war in Iraq -- like these latest desertion stastics -- are cruel and horrible. I guess it will all spill out eventually. It has also been unfair to these soldiers. The National Guard has never been the main forces used for a foreign war before. They had always previously been a 'national' guard, a 'home' guard and now they have been thrown on the front lines of a war, again and again.

POPSWar Bills From Both Parties Fail in Senate_Nov07
At least the politicians and press are no longer saying they need 60 votes to pass a bill -- they only need 51 votes, a simple majority -- to not only pass any legislation BUT they could also change their 60-vote 'cut off debate,' current procedure...change it with the vote of a simple majority. So, if they wanted to get serious, #1, change the procedure which currently requires 60 votes to prevent a filibuster; change this with a 51% vote. OR #2 Have the filibuster. Force the Republicans to stand up and talk for 24-hours a day. Outlast them. Fight them. But no, not this week. Time to go home for Thanksgiving. You sort of wish they'd all get stripped searched at the airport but one thing is clear (and good)...the Republican counter-offer, the $70 billion with no anti-war strings attached also did not get passed so, clearly, this battle has been postponed. Time will tell. Tune after Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving, BTW, is a very nice holiday. Almost everyone but AIM would prob

POPSStop half-the-war bill passes House.
"There's no way to get there from here," someone once said. One big step forward, at least, is that it has a name and number so when trying to talk about it you don't have to say things like: "The 2nd Amendment to Fall Supplemental Funding" This bill is called the Orderly and Responsible Iraq Redeployment Appropriations Act, HR 2957. One good idea is a clear policy against torture. There also appears to be a clear requirement that the government must start a withdrawal of troops. This article clipped here, though, distorts several provisions of the actual bill. If interested in comparing this ONE sample of distortion and propaganda spin, the actual text of the legislation can be found here, at: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:h.r.02956 which does NOT ask for a Full Withdrawal of troops by Dec. 2008 but a Limited Withdrawal by April 2008. Gosh...Bush could bring one soldier home by and meet the requirement. At least we're getting another Holocaust Muse

POPSAnti-war what?
These quote -- except the first one -- are from Democrats and concern a $50 billion bill that adds funds , today, for the war. It almost sounds like the Democrats are going to do something real. While the Republicans continue to play one of their final gambits: i.e. - We should support the war because we have to support the troops. This 50-billion dollar bill has nothing more than a pretense of war opposition....with a provision to "begin the redeployment of our brave men and women,"..requiring that President Bush initiate troop withdrawals within 30 days of its passage with the goal of bringing home most soldiers and Marines by Dec. 15, 2008 -- but this goal of "most" troops withdrawn is NOT a requirement, not real at all and -- even worse -- puts out the idea that "enough soldiers and Marines are to be left behind to fight terrorists, train Iraqi security forces and protect U.S. assets." Ah...."protect US assests,' Such as the 14 or permanent military bases that are appare

POPSHardships increase in isolated Gaza The focus of the article is actually about how students enrolled in foreign schools (in the USA, EU, etc.) are not allowed to leave the country to go to school. Nobody is allowed into Gaza. Nobody is allowed out., Food, medical supplies, electricity and gas, etc. are all restricted. There's a good dose of propaganda in the article too. Some group in Israel claims to be taking this to the Supreme Court (yippie!) and a government spokesmen promises that what he calls a "humanitarian crisis," will not be allowed to happen.

POPSWater torture judge wins job. This is a good marker for the end of the illusion of so-called: 'American values." Now all the brash and bloated pretensions can be tossed back into America's face. Without doubt it would be justified to see it's own troops tortured. Also It would be fair play to kidnap suspects and hold them in secret prisions for decades, without trial, charges, lawyers or family notification. Of course, too, other nations could also start wars based on lies and deliberate fabrications. Increase spying on citizens. Build up lists of 'terrorist suspects,' spend more money on prisons rather than schools, etc. Welcome to the New World Fascist Regime: Welcome to America. We just gave the job of Chief of Law and Order (our Attorney General) to a Republican hack who's willing to play ball with the warmongers. And the rival political party is playing along.

POPSUSA Congress: Yesterday: X-Rated Review
One refreshing aspect of current USA political discussion is seeing and hearing the massive tidal wave, the roaring tsunami of resentment and anger, now directed at both US political parties. Gosh...I remember 'back in the Day,' when it was a few and sporadic voices seeking to mount opposition to the growing American fascism and imperialism -- all done under the waving of the flag and invoking of Christianity. But, gosh, now today it's hard to keep up with the many voices that scream for action, that wail against the policies of Bush and his neo-con illegitimate warmongers. It appears activist are thumbing through their dictionaries, thesauruses, Ency. Brits, Bulfinch's mythology, Aesops fables, records of the Crusades and Spanish Inquisitions, not to mention of course Homer, Shakespeare, Barry McGurie, Bob Dylan, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, etc. Yes, indeed, "The Eastern World, it is exploding..." Now, even slang and profanity are being strained to their limits.

POPSSaudis' claim Brits/Yanks ignored warnings of terrorist attacks.
Humm...If you cut this statement down to the minimalist bone it says, as a bottom line, I believe: "We (the Saudis) knew about these upcoming terrorist attacks)" It also says the Brits were clearly warned and in some twisted words implies the USA, at the least, 'could have been,' warned. Further conclusions are hard to decipher, at this time apparently lost in twisted words with uncertain meanings, diplomatic hints rather than facts, opposing statements by British and USA spokespeople, the filtering of the media and maybe even language nuances. Having said all that, yea...this is the truth. The Arabs knew. Israel knew. The USA deliberately avoided knowing. This is the "real," conspiracy of 9/11 (and apparently the London train bombings) and all the other 'conspiracies,' are just fake distractions and deliberate exaggerations to avoid getting to this 'real,' conspiracy OF ALLOWING THE ATTACK TO HAPPEN. (Um...This was also true for Pearl Harbor; intel of attack ignored);
