Where is all this leading? If the US cools it then how to stop the rest of the world weapons producers ? The UN is so pathetic we need an independent world forum that can effectively punish exportsers of death it is no good just bashing the US in such a dangerous world. The allies saved Europe not the Soviets .Stalin was as evil as Hitler & the Japs got what they deserved by the Australians in New Guinea no quarter ,the A bomb at least the first one made Japan consider the foolishness of not laying down their arms ; Albiet some nasty beheadings of our prisoners of war after surrender.China India Pakistan Iran balance of power? Its not getting better, Russia French, all have their hard wear remember the French Exocept missile in the Falklands?

The REAL Napster's association of God with war

You know what Napster, you're right. I'm glad China, the US, and France united against the expanding Vietnamese empire. That was a close one, so close to taking over the world in fact. "Vietnam was under Chinese control for a thousand years before becoming a nation-state in the 10th century. Successive dynasties flourished along with geographic and political expansion deeper into Southeast Asia, until it was colonized by the French in the mid-19th century. Efforts to resist the French eventually led to their expulsion from the country in the mid-20th century, leaving a nation divided politically into two countries. Bitter fighting between the two sides continued during the Vietnam War, ending with a communist victory in 1975." ... "In 1978, the Vietnamese army invaded Cambodia (sparking the Cambodian-Vietnamese War) to remove the Khmer Rouge from power. This action worsened relations with China, which launched a brief incursion into northern Vietnam (the Sino-Vietnamese War) in

Like America, we had out War of Independence followed by a bloody Civil War on the issue of independence. This was also in common with many other states that gained independence. We didn't gain full independence until 1948 when we took it without a shot being fired. We did lose 6 of our 9 counties of Ulster, our northern providence. Hopefully some day our "four green fields" will be reunited peacefully. By Bush&Co's definition all our leaders would have been terrorists like Nelson Mandela , just like your own revered insurrectionists/freedom fighters/terrorists/founding fathers. Our longest serving PM and president de Valera would have been executed along with the 1916 Rising leaders only he was born in America.

    Before The War On Drugs
    sahara
    by sahara  6-27-2008    1
Many medical authorities regarded opiate addiction as far less destructive than alcoholism (some doctors even prescribed the former as treatment for the latter). Many opiate addicts, perhaps most, managed to lead relatively normal lives and kept their addictions secret even from close friends and relatives. That they were able to do so was largely a function of the legal status of their drug use. But even more reassuring is the fact that the major causes of opiate addiction then simply do not exist now. Late nineteenth-century Americans became addicts principally at the hands of physicians who lacked modern medicines and were unaware of the addictive potential of the drugs they prescribed. Doctors in the 1860s and 1870s saw morphine injections as a virtual panacea, and many Americans turned to opiates to alleviate their aches and pains without going through doctors at all. But as medicine advanced, the levels of both doctor- and self-induced addiction declined markedly.

De Waal acknowledges that “we have a tendency, and all the primates have a tendency, to be hostile to non–group members.” But he and other experts insist that humans and their primate cousins are much less bellicose than the public has come to believe. Studies of monkeys, apes, and Homo sapiens offer ample hope that we can overcome our aggressive tendencies and greatly reduce or maybe even eliminate warfare.

    Time for a Change?

Obviously, the comparison to the Prohibition Era is called for here. That same mindset is underlying this War on Drugs. This "war" is a fiction. Overuse of recreational drugs is a medical problem, not a legal problem. And underlying the whole concept is the religious based idea of denial of pleasure in this world. I'm afraid this problem will be with us for some time to come.

The first reference to a handgun was made in an order for iron bullets in 1326. When killed in battle, Japanese officers were promoted to the next highest rank. During the 1991 Gulf War, the Allies dropped more than 17,000 smart bombs and 210,000 dumb (unguided) bombs on Iraqi troops. In 1997, the US maintained 13,750 nuclear warheads, 5,546 of them on ballistic missiles. In 1998, the US spent more than $35 billion on its nuclear weapons programme. In 1997, the US exported $15,6 billion in arms to developing countries, 54% of which went to non-democratic regimes. Global spending on defence total more than $700 billion. Global spending on education is less than $100 billion.

September 11th attacks, the suicide bombings that occur frequently across the world. I would like you, the reader, to realize, I am a proponent of the beliefs in God, only an opponent of the religious customs and teachings that separate religions who read and believe in the same god and holy book. In short, haw the hell can a Baptist and catholic believe in Jesus, read the bible, be so different? Why are both the Jews and Muslims, who both read very similar holy books and believe in the same god, mortal enemies? The answer? religious teachings not directly obtained from holy books but instead interpreted from various excerpts forged and fashioned into bogus meanings. I believe that religion causes war.
