Study finds even toddlers know gender expectations

I would have predicted that they would yes. I think that children start to recognise their own gender (and sexuality) around age two, so they would therefore recognise it in others too.

Interesting piece, not least because humour is constantly evolving.

This story really upset me last night when I was watching the news, and is still frightening to me today.

The hidden brain drain - women who lose out by having children

"... allowed childbearing to dilute focus". Sylvia Ann Hewlett first veered off the career highway - or "off-ramped", as she calls it - in her early 30s. She was assistant professor of economics at Barnard College, part of Columbia University, New York, and in the running for a permanent teaching position, when she lost twins in the seventh month of pregnancy. Then she lost her job too: she was told that she hadn't made tenure because she had "allowed childbearing to dilute focus".

    Too old for networking?
    cementedminds
    by cementedminds  5-25-2007    7
Do social networking sites work for the over 25s? I don't see why not. They work for me and I'm over 25. Perhaps I don't get the ten thousand comments a day I would get if I were a 16 year old on Bebo, but would I want them? And is it ageist to suggest that social networking is not for the over 25s?

I absolutely agree with this. The research that I do is heavily focused on personal narratives and subjective experiences. I want first-hand knowledge of their 'first-hand' knowledge.

My word! I'm not on Clipmarks for ONE DAY and it all changes! I've never seen a site like it. Good work lads (and lasses - are there any lasses?). It's looking great. :)

I can see no harm in making a musical about it. And it's certainly novel!
