About me
Mature guy who believes we need to all do our bit in looking after our planet, World community and our future. Sadly those who tend to lead us are not the most enlightened and we need to be aware of that fact.

Sea Shepherd deserves our support!
bs1999bs
by bs1999bs  12-23-2008
It is time for the World to standup and be counted on issues affecting us all. Our Governments continue to fail us as they junket from one fest to another expending more "hot air". We have enough Global Warming without daft politicians adding to it!

Bravo Sea Shepherd for a gutsy effort
bs1999bs
by bs1999bs  12-23-2008
All this at a time when Governments (and Greenpeace!) are sitting on their asses enjoying Christmas festivities, no doubt! It is time for more to support Sea Shepherd in their valiant efforts.

Timid Governments allow vandals to wreck forests!
bs1999bs
by bs1999bs  12-23-2008
Governments around the World consistently "shy away" from taking powerful vested interests to court. It makes a complete mockery of our system and it threatens our future. The last thing the World needs now is more Global Warming in this case brought about by politicians producing "hot air" rather than action!

Is mankind generally moronic?
bs1999bs
by bs1999bs  12-13-2008    1
I'd have to agree with Al Gore - too many watch soap opera and reality shows or get consumed in trivia to worry about what is going on "out there". Here we have a World falling "part at the seams" as the majority doesn't give a damn. It speaks volumes!

Plastic is a great resource but watch the disposal
bs1999bs
by bs1999bs  12-11-2008
Sadly, plastic is responsible for trashing our planet comprehensively. We now must take steps to ban certain use and also we must pursue biodegradable alternatives to standard plastic.

Australian Government beats the retreat!
bs1999bs
by bs1999bs  12-6-2008
So much for the grand opening salvo from the Rudd Government - they have now beaten the retreat! The "Ozzies" were never people to runup a white flag after a couple of shots - why start now?

Whalers decimate even pregnant females!
bs1999bs
by bs1999bs  12-6-2008    1
These callous whalers are not only taking the present generation of whales, they are also taking future generations! I believe the time has come for decisive action - not the limp-wristed efforts of so many Governments. Australia through the new Rudd administration made a great start - but they have now joined ranks with those capitulating to the Japanese. Some leadership!

Africa is a "basket case" - exploited by China and others!
bs1999bs
by bs1999bs  11-30-2008    1
The lingering, callous attitude to the destitute of Africa is perpetuated by nasties like the rotten Chinese regime and others like them. They have armed the renegades in Africa who have raped, pillaged and mudered as China reaps the spoils of minerals and other resources. Meanwhile the rest of the World tends to sit on the sidelines and watch the human misery unfold year after year after year!

This sad commentary shows the extent of its transgressions. It doesn't deserve the mantle of a World leader!

Australia is capitulating on whaling protest!
bs1999bs
by bs1999bs  11-24-2008
It is clear the Australian Government is now reneging on its commitment to fight the Japanese whaling at every level. They are now resorting to limited opposition to whaling through diplomatic channels which are little better than "talkfests"! The Australian people are generally forthright, bold and honest - their Government is not reflecting such qualities in the whaling situation!

Is the Rudd Government now all talk?
bs1999bs
by bs1999bs  11-16-2008
Sadly it looks increasingly that the great moves initially by the Rudd Government of Australia have become little more than "hot air". As if we need more Global warming! Sea Shepherd have been left to soldier on alone as the Japanese practise their butchering of the whales. Garrett, Australia's environment spokesman was full of noise prior to his election - now he is ominously quiet. The excuse is that Australia is using diplomatic channels - and we know how mind-numbingly slow progress there can be devoid of the public gaze! Comeon "Ozzies" stir the tripe out of your Government - it needs a rocket up its backside!

Greed is the root cause of our collective problem in the meltdown
bs1999bs
by bs1999bs  10-24-2008
We are seeing a meltdown essentially brought about by collective greed, ignorance and selfishness - no question. Perhaps now, as our savings and jobs evaporate we may better understand the plight of our planet, the young, the vulnerable, etc that we have tended to ignore for years.

China pays a high price for environmental indifference!
bs1999bs
by bs1999bs  7-31-2008
As it vandalizes much of the natural World in its bid to exploit natural resources China's years of indifference to environmental woes is coming to haunt its leaders. Bravo! All the pomp and ceremony could well be shrouded by a real "pea soup" of pollution. It fits well in a nation which obscures its abuses of human rights, its willingness to tolerate so much fake in medicines, products, etc. Its time for China to "come clean" in more ways than just its smog!
