POPSToTaLLy StELLaR dude Furthermore... "Combining the NACO images with data obtained with several other telescopes the astronomers could determine the distance of the system - about 25,000 light-years from the Sun - and its intrinsic brightness - over 10,000 times brighter than the Sun. This implies that the vampire white dwarf in this system has a high mass that is near its fatal limit and is still simultaneously being fed by its companion at a high rate." A GOOD READ

POPSChina's Space Mission a Success.... at who's expense? How much milk did they taint for this? How much did they scrimp on quality for exportation to other countries in order to afford their space rendezvous? I bet.... if we were to ban certain imports from China, it will be a long time before they are seen in space again. grrrrr

POPSNine planets? No! More. Additional quoted comment: "The Adler already has a planetary anachronism. When it opened 76 years ago, plaques had already been commissioned for just eight planets. Pluto was discovered a few months laterGyuk doesn't see the Adler adding plaques for Pluto or the three proposed planets because "we just don't have space."" ======= I thought that was a funny pun! ;)

POPSEvidence for the Big Bang (Talk.Origins FAQ) This could not be a better overview of the Big Bang model of the beginning moments of the universe. This is not an easy subject, so it is not surprising that it is so misunderstood. I particularly recommend Common misconceptions about the Big Bang and What does the theory really say? to get a grasp on the theory. Then glance at the converging lines of observational evidence to see why no other theory fits the data as well. I think this is fun stuff.
