Why I use Clipmarks
I do a lot of research for my friends and myself. I thought Clipmarks would be ideal for clipping segments and tagging rather than editing info that I've saved to my hard drive in docs. It's been everything and more than I imagined it would be, and is a great time saver. I also enjoy sharing comments on current events or topics of interest. It's nice to be able to re-visit information without worrying whether the original web bookmark is still valid. Thanks Clipmarks!

Kirsty Ally, Valerie Bertinelli and Geena Davis? I'm not one to talk.... could use a few less pounds myself. It's not an easy task. But is always shocking I think when our Hollywood idols decide to let their hair down and take sabbatical.

A Little Whine with my Cocoa nut

"But she added: "We do not advise that people in the UK take up drinking cocoa in high quantities in order to protect their hearts."" The Whine: What I don't understand is how much research REALLY needs to be done with this much living proof? Maybe 'grant' dollars has something to do with that?! It never ceases to amaze me how much the medical profession really believes it could stand to loose in dollars when it feels threatened with a valid natural remedy.

Call Out to Protect our Water
bookchick49
by bookchick49  8-20-2007
“I believe the proposal to allow increased dumping of ammonia and toxic sludge into Lake Michigan from British Petroleum's oil refinery in Whiting, Indiana is unconscionable. Certainly a company that claims to be "Beyond Petroleum" can also be beyond polluting our waters. "Please halt progress on this proposal now and find a way to deal with the waste this plant produces other than dumping more of it into Lake Michigan."

by bookchick49  2-15-2007
excerpted from a yahoo email newsletter as a description for the above clip. "In 1939, Nazi Germany embarked on a eugenics program that targeted disabled people, whom they called "ballastexitenz" or "life ballast." Now, just barely into the 21st century, a "non-speaking physically disabled and autistic woman" has repurposed that epithet as the title for her blog"

Should Kids Use "Energy Drinks?"
bookchick49
by bookchick49  10-30-2006    1
The "functional beverage" industry is part of a larger trend known as "nutraceutical foods," which has exploded in part because it occupies a gray area between foods and dietary supplements. Congress, prompted by lobbying from herbal-supplement companies, exempted substances like guarana, kava kava and ma huang from strict regulation by the FDA in 1994. This was despite evidence linking misuse of ma huang to serious medical problems, including heart attacks and death.
