    Advance In Throat Cancer Treatment?
    blakelylaw
    by blakelylaw  2-27-2009
The headline on the article itself is misleading. Doctors are not planning voicebox transplants from human to human; they're debating about growing new voice boxes from stem cells & then implanting them. Still, I can only say, wow! A friend's husband just lost his voice box to throat cancer.

I hate to see any animal suffer & my family has tried to save it's share of wild, and not so wild, animals over the years, but I tend to agree with the scientists on this one. I certainly disagree with one lady in the story - they're not like children. I say do what you can, e.g. make sure they have food, then let nature take it's course.

The San Francisco Opera had commissioned a new opera, "Il Postino," based on the science fiction tale & movie. It's world premiere was scheduled for this fall; now, because of the economic downturn, that has been indefinitely postponed.

The article mentions controlling blood pressure. I think I saw something about that in another article within the past few weeks.
