POPSThe Fight Back Begins Thank God, both people & institutions are starting to wake up to the fact that Big Brother is not always right.

POPSThoughts of Orwell & Shakespeare & Socialism You know - a rose by any other name, etc. The pres. swears he's not nationalizing any companies, but he wants to tell them how to pay their employees. Notice, nothing is said about this only applying to companies who've accepted bail-outs. At the very least, this is the definition of Socialism.

POPSAnother Misleading Headline When you saw the headline in the clip, I'm sure you thought what I thought. - Although it technically doesn't say anything incorrect, the scream immediately makes one think they're human placentas. Read the article & it quickly becomes apparent that they have not yet been identified regarding the source - human or animal. Plus, there have only been three stretched out over a year. The city thinks they're either from a veternarian or a midwife trying to dispose of a perfectly normal afterbirth. And newspapers wonder why they're going out of business?!

POPSObamarama The ones I've posted are just the ones I like best. All are fabulous & too funny!

POPSHospital Has More Sense Than Mother I can only add my thank God to that of countless others. The hospital is apparently not going to release the octuplets to their mother until or unless she proves that she can take care of them.

POPSBoycott Gilly Hicks The company is an Abercrombie & Fitch subsidiary. Even for them this goes way, way, way too far!

POPSMissing Woman Found In Switzerland A woman missing for 12 years has been found living in the wild in Switzerland! She is apparently healthy although the article makes no mention of her mental status.

POPSCommutations, Not Pardons In his final act of clemency, Bush released the two Border Patrol agents who were convicted in Texas of shooting a Mexican drug dealer. Given the fact that they were tried by a jury, I'm glad that he commuted the sentences rather than granting a pardon; however, I think he should have done it right after the convictions.

POPSSave Them or Leave Them Be? I hate to see any animal suffer & my family has tried to save it's share of wild, and not so wild, animals over the years, but I tend to agree with the scientists on this one. I certainly disagree with one lady in the story - they're not like children. I say do what you can, e.g. make sure they have food, then let nature take it's course.

POPSEnglish Housewife Takes Repairman Hostage! Gotta love it! Wonder how many people will at least think about this now. The lady takes cares of a 6-person household. She bought a new washing machine 10-mths. ago which is apparently a lemon. It's most recent breakdown occurred in early December & the company said the earliest it could send someone out would be after Christmas. When the repairman did come out last week, he told her it need a nickel part, but started to leave without fixing it. The rest, as they say, is history. She made her point. The company is giving her a new washer!

POPSNCAA President Is Dieing I certainly do not agree with much of what the NCAA does (although it does seem to have gotten better recently) & I absolutely disagreed with the thing for which Brand is most famous (he was the president of the University of Indiana who fired Bobby Knight), but you can only feel sorry for the man.

POPSThe Postman Won't Be Ringing In San Francisco The San Francisco Opera had commissioned a new opera, "Il Postino," based on the science fiction tale & movie. It's world premiere was scheduled for this fall; now, because of the economic downturn, that has been indefinitely postponed.

POPSGood for the Bus Driver! You know, if an atheist had been forced to drive a bus with a "There Is a God" slogan, it would have been deemed discrimination.

POPSBritish Politician Says Dyslexia Is Fictional Ailment I agree with one part of what he says. - I believe that dyslexia is real; however, "enlightened" Western societies too often allow it to be used as a crutch instead of "forcing" people to overcome it with proper teaching, which can be done.
