POPSGraco My Ride 65: The First Convertible Car Seat to Rear-Face to 40 Pounds! According to car-safety.org, rear-facing is safest because it spreads “frontal crash forces over the whole area of a baby’s back, head and neck; they also prevent the head from snapping relative to the body in a frontal crash.” Additionally, the risk of broken legs due to bent knees or feet that touch the car’s seat is much lower than the risk of fatal injury. Crashtest.com cites these statistics for occurrence of crashes: frontal and frontal offset represent 72% of severe crashes, side impact 24% and rear and rear offset only account for 4%.

POPSFDA Approves Experimental H1N1 Swine Flu Vaccine Prior to Children Safety Trials Beginning Moreover, it appears that the Novartis Swine Flu vaccine insert is mostly a copied and pasted from the FLUVIRIN insert. Both inserts indicate that the vaccine is not for use for children under four years of age. Yet, Novartis is having a trial as I write this on three year old boys and girls. Even harder to grasp is the CDC’s recommendation that pregnant women and children 6-months of age are being shoved to the front of the line for being vaccinated. The cruel irony on page 2 of the Novartis Swine Flu vaccine insert remarks, “Safety and effectiveness of Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine have not been established in pregnant women, nursing mothers or children less than 4 years of age. (8.1, 8.3, 8.4)“

POPSNo More Fines - A traffic safety revolution * Small villages with populations of 200 people will not be fielding 20 man police department to patrol the half-mile of Interstate that passes through the village boundaries. * County Sheriffs’ departments and city police departments will redirect the man hours spent operating speed traps to dealing with real crimes and providing emergency services. * High profile enforcement binges will become rare events. * There will be far fewer people driving on suspended licenses which will result in more insured drivers (no license, no insurance coverage). * Significantly reduced case loads in traffic courts, perhaps resulting in the return of due process for persons charged with a traffic violation. * And, the allure of ticket cameras will also fade into oblivion.

POPSKids Up to Age 12 at Risk of Spine Injury From Car Crash "Vehicle manufacturers need to design the rear seats of their vehicles so that this is achieved and maintained during a crash," Brown said. For now, she advised parents to use car booster seats for as long as possible — until they are about 4 feet, 9 inches and can sit comfortably with their knees over the front of the seat, without slouching. Some older kids may be relatively short but too large for most booster seats. Brown noted that some seats are designed with different shapes that may be a better fit for older children.
