Some Blacks Now Have Doubts About Obama
    billpar
    by billpar  9-14-2009    1
Almost a third of blacks consider themselves conservative according to a Pew Research Center report.. Even a star like Bill Cosby incurred the wrath of the black establishment when he started talking about black families and personal responsibility. As result, he backed off and toned down his message. Recall during the campaign, candidate Obama ruffled Jesse Jackson's feathers when he spoke about personal responsibility among black males. An inadvertently "on" microphone picked up Jackson saying that he wanted to castrate Obama (not exactly in that language). these folks have always been inclined to be quiet because of the social pressures and intimidation. But this is changing. Despite slurs, intimidation, and widely reported physical attacks from union thugs, a few brave black souls have showed up at tea party protest rallies.

Government watchdogs fear bill undermines them

    by billpar  7-30-2009
They remain puzzled about why Congress is moving to shift their status. “The question is: how is making someone political going to make them more independent?” said a source within the IG community. Combined with the Walpin firing, the legislation has left several IGs anxious about their positions in the Obama administration as they move forward with investigations of government waste and fraud. If the bill is enacted, there is concern in the IG community that if the IGs pushed too hard with ongoing probes, Obama would not appoint them to their current positions. “You put the two together and people get really nervous,” said the source.

Global warming alarm has always been a political movement

(regardless of their lack of expertise in the issue)? The process of coopting science on behalf of a political movement has had an extraordinarily corrupting influence on science -- especially since the issue has been a major motivation for funding. Most funding for climate would not be there without this issue. And, it should be added, most science funded under the rubric of climate does not actually deal with climate, but rather with the alleged impact of arbitrarily assumed climate change. All impacts depend on regional forecasts, and quoting the leading scientist at the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (widely regarded as the foremost atmospheric modeling center), Tim Palmer, such forecasts are no better than guesses.

That's political capitalism, that's corporatism, in a nutshell. And that's the kind of disreputable market system that got us into this mess. - WILL WILKINSON is a research fellow at the Cato Institute and editor of Cato Unbound. He writes on topics ranging from Social Security reform, happiness and public policy, economic inequality, and the political implications of new research in psychology and economics.      IT IS DESTABILIZING How can you run a company when the rules keep changing, when you have to worry about being second-guessed by Congress..? At this point, most Wall Street bankers would rather be attacked by wild dogs than take part. They fear that they’ll do something — make money perhaps? — that will arouse Congressional ire. Or that the rules will change... Not all the employees who face the possibility of having their bonuses taxed out from under them work for the evil financial products division... Taking away their bonuses — after they’ve already put the money in their bank accounts — hardly seems like the right way to motivate them. Maybe they can't see it from the shamrock-hued vistas of their "cottages" on the west coast of Ireland, but the political class has done nothing this last week but destroy the wealth of this country.

Hustled: How Obama Deceived America About The Drawdown
    merrie
    by merrie  3-11-2009    3
There is no easy way to determine on a Sunday night how many tens of millions of training dollars and man-hours Obama wasted by shifting this Stryker brigade, but if the Iraqi theater really didn't need them, it at least could have been understandable. But the Iraqi theater clearly did need a Stryker brigade, and he planned on sending one all along. We know this because just as soon as the Obama White House sold the drawdown story to the media and the anti-war left, he immediately and quietly ordered that another Stryker brigade—one that is no doubt capable, but one that didn't have the specific, intensive training of the unit diverted to Afghanistan— rushed to Iraq months ahead of schedule in order to keep the same number of Stryker brigades (two) as there has been the entire time. There is no drawdown of Stryker brigades in Iraq.
