POPSACORN Internal Memo Blows Cover Off Its Claims Of "Non-Partisan" Status
Worse, ACORN is competing for $8 billion in Stimulus dough, thanks to President Obama. So where does the money go? Fox News traced the money to a single, small funeral parlor in New Orleans on Elysian Fields Avenue. It appears to be a bank for ACORN and as many as 268 of its far-left affiliates. And some of its affiliates -- like "The ACORN Institute" -- are 501(c)(3) organizations. To maintain its tax-exempt status, various arms of ACORN purport to be a non-partisan, community support organizations. These are laughable propositions, to be sure, but thus far have resisted attempts to puncture their complex corporate veils. In other words, ACORN plotted a national campaign to benefit a Democrat Party takeover of Congress, explicitly naming the Democrats as beneficiaries of their "largesse". Sounds non-partisan, eh? You can read the entire memo here, preserved for posterity. http://docs.google.com/View?id=dw454vd_19c8nb9qcg

POPSACORN's Corporate Donors Backing Off Banks and other financial institutions have given millions of dollars and other forms of support to ACORN for decades in response to boycott threats from the organization, as well as accusations of racism and other forms of discrimination in granting personal loans and mortgages. The ACORN campaigns followed passage of the 1977 Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), which was designed to pressure financial institutions to loosen lending standards in order to increase home ownership among poor and minority communities. Legislation strengthening CRA during the Clinton administration greatly encouraged such ACORN activities. Dissident current and former officials of ACORN claim that donations made to AHC and other affiliates are often misappropriated. “There’s no guarantee that any donations are going where they are supposed to be going,” said Ron Sykes, treasurer of the Washington D.C. ACORN and a member of the ACORN 8.

POPSThe sound of ACORN falling Appearing before the National Press Club, Lewis condemned as "McCarthyism" the scrutiny her group has drawn since employees in several cities were filmed advising undercover journalists on how to commit housing fraud. They're just bad apples, see, and she's working to "turn this thing around." But what of the ACORN affiliates under investigation in multiple states for voter fraud? What of the Rathkes themselves? Nope, the evidence is piling up that ACORN is rotten all through. No wonder its political allies are running for cover. Lewis said she doubts the group will ever get federal money again. That would sure be a good start.

POPSObama's Acorn a Criminal Organization
And now he says that the enormous and growing ACORN scandal is not something he is “paying a lot of attention to”? And that the ACORN scandal is “not the biggest issue facing the country”? I beg to differ. I think a national organization that is dedicated to stealth revolution, communism, ripping off the American taxpayer, and subverting free markets, among other insidious traitorous objectives, is of enormous import. What exactly is Obama paying attention to? Nationalizing a perfectly good private healthcare system, the best on the world? Outreach to the ummah (the worldwide global Muslim community)? What is he paying attention to? Mounting a Department of Justice witch hunt, a persecution of CIA agents whose crime was keeping us safe from the worldwide jihad in the immediate aftermath of 9/11? What’s he paying attention to? Ethnically cleansing Israel of the Jewish people? Or facilitating a nuclear Iran? Sanctioning Islamic law there and snuffing out the people marching for fre

POPSOprah Calls It Quits Sure most of you have heard the news about Oprah, but if not I have clipped this article. I saw on the Oprah show on Friday her announcing the end of her Oprah show next year on 9/9/2011. In typical Oprah style she made the announcement with such grace and style. This will make it a 25 year season for the show. I am really interested in seeing her shows over the next year as I am sure they will be outstanding.

POPSACORN “Six Degrees of Separation for Socialists” The New York Times had then reported that the Tides Foundation has provided more than $400 million dollars since 2000 to various far left outlets, a good portion of that to ACORN affiliates alone. The Tides funds come partially from federal grants, as well as elite donors like George Soros, Theresa Heinz Kerry, and The New World Foundation. At that time, Tides stated that Drummond Pike was on a “leave of absence” from their board; but shortly thereafter, they established an office in CA atThe Presidio with George Soros’ friends, Democracy Alliance " Drummond Pike, Treasurer and Anna Burger, Vice-Chair. The Tides Foundation had also insisted that none of their money ever went to ACORN. Right in plain sight on the Tides Foundation website are some of their prior Grantee lists. These are grants made up of primarily federal government dollars, some of which are then given to ACORN affiliates. via http://libertychick.com/

POPSUnions gave ACORN nearly $10 million The bulk of the donations came from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which contributed $7.4 million between 2005 and 2008 to the national organization, state chapters and allied groups. SEIU’s single largest donation of $1.5 million went to the ACORN Community Labor Organizing Center (ACLOC) in 2006. SEIU also made a $1.3 million donation to ACORN International in 2005. The United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), the Longshore and Warehouse Union, the Communication Workers of America (CWA), and the National Education Association (NEA) were other top contributors. SEIU Locals 100 and 880 were listed as allied organizations on ACORN’s web site until The Examiner highlighted this connection. Why would unions pay 10 million dollars to a group of community organizers?

POPSFake Security Software In Millions Of Computers Oh Boy! A new computer scam. ""In terms of the number of people who potentially have this in their machines, it's tens of millions," Weafer said." It was also impossible to tell how much cyberthieves made off with but "affiliates" acting as middlemen to convince people to download the software were believed to earn between 1 cent per download and 55 cents. TrafficConverter.biz, which has been shut down, had boasted that its top affiliates earned as much as $332,000 a month for selling scam security software, according to Weafer."

POPSReflections on the ACORN Story: By Michael Barone Senior Political Analyst 9.18 I don’t think supporting ACORN is going to be a strong positive issue for Larsen in Skagit and Whatcom Counties. But back to ACORN. What stuns me is that, for all my knowledge of ACORN employees’ illegal behavior, it never would have occurred to me that so many of them would blithely collaborate in encouraging prostitution"and child prostitution at that! One ACORN defender said, in effect, well, that’s what you get when you hire low-income people; but I refuse to believe that that’s standard operating procedure even in the most disadvantaged of demographics. What is it about the culture of ACORN that makes collaboration in prostitution standard operating procedure? No wonder that 67% of voters have an unfavorable view of ACORN, according to pollster Scott Rasmussen. One wonders about the 15% who have positive views"an even lower percentage than the 17% of House members who voted against defunding ACORN.

POPSACORN and Obama Play Americans For Fools the Working Families Party. That party was co-founded by ACORN’s Bertha Lewis and it endorsed President Obama last year. Maybe the congressman’s right. Perhaps we should heed his advice and just skip the constitutional concerns altogether and head straight to a criminal prosecution under federal racketeering laws and deal with these people the RICO way we do with other gangsters. [No one knows how big the total budget of ACORN, with its hundreds of tax-exempt affiliates, actually is. The ACORN network has taken in an estimated $53 million since 1994, a relatively paltry sum that is but a mere fraction of the hundreds of millions of dollars it has received from member dues, liberal foundations, and corporate shakedowns. ACORN and similar left-wing non-profit advocacy groups will be eligible this year for up to $3 billion in federal funding from President Obama’s stimulus package and a separate $5.5 billion set-aside for grants in

POPSACORN: No Business Like Poverty Business
ACORN proves the axiom of the modern welfare state " that there's no business like the poverty business. Although ACORN runs a large conglomerate of social-activist anti-poverty front groups out of a New Orleans hub, it is registered as a nonprofit corporation in Arkansas, which does not require financial disclosure. This has allowed it keep its own finances shielded from public scrutiny, while demanding transparency from all others. The group's nonprofit status refers only to its corporate form. That is, ACORN must be organized for a public purpose and have no stockholders, unlike a regular corporation. However, it is not tax exempt under federal law, since it does advocacy and lobbying that would run afoul of IRS restrictions, such as endorsing political candidates. ACORN was started in 1970 by Stephen Wade Rathke, a former SDS radical and Boston-based community organizer. The group now consists of so many interlocking associations, corporations, and affiliates . . .

POPS Cracking ACORN Kingsley wrote in a reference to the tax code provision regulating charities. ACORN and its affiliates are not only reliable cheerleaders for higher taxes, but also longtime tax deadbeats. More than 200 federal, state, and local tax liens adding up to more than $3 million are associated with ACORN’s national headquarters in New Orleans. Capital Research Center discovered that ACORN moves money around its network with a boldness and agility that Pablo Escobar would have admired. Obama’s ties to ACORN go back to at least 1992, when he ran a voter-registration drive for Project Vote. Obama helped train ACORN leaders, and he represented ACORN in a ballot-access case. The socialist “New Party,” which served as ACORN’s electoral arm, endorsed Obama, who was one of its members, when he ran for the Illinois state senate in the mid-1990s. Last year, Obama promised a meeting of community organizers he would meet with ACORN after winning on Election Day.

POPSCongress Must Pass Republican Leader Boehner’s Defund ACORN Act
or any other form of agreement to this criminal organization. ACORN ally Representative Jerrold Nadler has lead the charge against the Defund ACORN Act. He has claimed that it is an unconstitutional *" Bill of Attainder " an argument that has been thoroughly rebutted by former FEC Commissioner Hans von Spakovsky. Nadler had no such reservations when he co-sponsered legislation to punish AIG employees who had been awarded bonuses. *A legislative act pronouncing a person guilty of a crime, usually treason, without trial and subjecting that person to capital punishment and attainder. Such acts are prohibited by the U.S. Constitution. Congress moving to cut off funds to ACORN for the next 50 days is a merely a first step. An organization with ACORN’s history of voter registration fraud, tax evasion, and criminal activity should never again be eligible to receive any federal funds. Stopping payment to this criminal enterprise is not enough.

POPSDemocrats Continue to Protect ACORN
ACORN and its estimated 270 corporate affiliates comprise a complex organizational and financial spiderweb with all the appearance of a criminal enterprise. ACORN is facing charges of voter fraud and tax violations, yet it has received over $53 million in taxpayer funds. Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank and his liberal friends have opened the taxpayers’ wallet to as much as an additional $8.5 billion that could be accessed by ACORN. The interlocking financial connections between ACORN and its affiliate organizations are ripe with waste, fraud and abuse, yet ACORN has never been investigated because it is protected by its cronies in Congress. President Obama, a former ACORN employee, has hired ACORN to “partner” with the Census Bureau to complete the 2010 census. Justice demands that Congress cut off ACORN’s access to taxpayer dollars and put an immediate end to ACORN’s involvement in the 2010 census, but Democrats refuse to allow a vote, let alone cut off ACORN’

POPSJudicial Watch Files Lawsuit Against HUD to Obtain ACORN Documents (These states are California, Texas, Washington, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, and Louisiana.) By law, HUD had 20 days to respond to Judicial Watch's request. Judicial Watch filed its lawsuit on September 23, 2009. Judicial Watch seeks the following records: 1. Any and all documents concerning money given to the ACORN and/or any of its affiliates (since January, 2000). 2. Any and all documents concerning any actions and/or disbarments against ACORN, for reasons including but not limited to abuse of grant money, misconduct, etc. (since January, 2000). The U.S. Census Bureau, meanwhile, has severed its partnership with the organization for the 2010 U.S. Census. The IRS also just severed a program relationship with ACORN.

POPSACORN changes name We have an administration in the WH and a Democrat controlled congress who on the surface appear to be involved up to their necks in apparent criminal behavior that goes beyond just ACORN. We have absolutely no hope of any oversight or justice from this WH or Congress. We can not rely on Attorney General Holder to actually do his job. We can not expect a congress that shows only contempt toward its citizens to demand an independent investigation. When wolves control the hen house do not expect fried chicken on Sunday!

POPSBreaking: ACORN Bombshell #4 Due From BigGovernment Tomorrow
ACORN and Obama at the Heart of the Mortgage Meltdown Starting in the nineties, a young attorney named Barack Obama began working with ACORN to promote mortgages for those who could not afford them. At the time, ACORN consisted of community agitators, who falsely accused banks of "redlining" (failing to offer mortgages to the urban poor). These groups would pack bank lobbies and harass customers in order to intimidate the institutions and force the government to lower underwriting standards. A former community agitator and ACORN attorney named Barack Obama sued Citibank in 1994, just one of hundreds of nuisance lawsuits filed by ACORN and its affiliates to loosen mortgage underwriting standards. The inevitable result is still unfolding. But this much is clear: ACORN, its attorneys and its sycophants in Congress unleashed a catastrophic meltdown on America. It used government power to to force financial institutions to underwrite completely unqualified applicants . .
