POPSMagical Thinking or Positive Thinking?
Another reason why I don't care who endorses a product (or idea). Just because millions of Americans have fallen for one idea or another and because some big name celebrity is on the bandwagon, does NOT mean it's a good idea (even if you would otherwise support the celebrity aka "are a big fan"). (Likewise, just because you hate an organization or a certain celebrity does not mean that their ideas don't have merit.) The key to life (YMMV): THINK FOR YOUR DAMN SELF! Believers and non-believers alike were given a brain by their creator and according to most religions were also given FREE WILL. This apparently was not for nothing. Just like women were given breasts for feeding, all humans were given brains for thinking. $HIT HAPPENS! It's the thinking human being who knows how to dig out of the $hit and find a pony (yeah, even if it's crippled...it's better than letting someone else do the digging for you and thus taking all the credit)! There is NO SECRET! Just live!

His head grew so big that his neck was losing its ability to support it. He was in constant misery, yet subject to ridicule. Because the needed to make a conscious effort to support his head, eventually he must have decided he couldn't carry on, stopped supporting his head, and died of suicide by asphyxiation.

POPSSexting latest trend amongst teens. I could never understand why a teenager needed a cell phone to begin with, let alone one with all kinds of bells and whistles. My own personal cell phone does not take pictures nor am I able to send and receive text messages or images. I find there is absolutely no need to do any of that from a PHONE. Our society is awash in excess. Over kill in many respects, What once was a LUXURY now seems to be a necessity in some peoples minds. I can understand the sense of security one can feel by being able to contact a son or daughter at anytime via the cell phone but WHY ON EARTH do they need one with every available option not to mention the COST of it all. Wouldn't a simple cell phone that sends and receives calls be ENOUGH? Must our children need to be able to send text and pictures on a PHONE? Take it away from them parents and act like the adults you are supposed to be.

POPSVenezuela's rouged revolution Kind-of extreme... especially the part about the girls asking (and some getting) breast augmentation as young as 13... (also liposuction, etc..) In the paper edition, there was a picture showing Ornela Maria. When I first glanced at the page, I thought she was probably about 16-18... Then I saw 10... There's something wrong when a 10 year old dresses like she's 18... makeup and all... Kids are getting too old too young.. and I'm a liberal.. about as liberal as they come (unless I'm talking about crime & punishment)... but this is wrong.. this kid should be out playing with dolls... But you see this a lot now, young girls, as young as 7 or 8, dressing in clothes that a dozen years ago would likely have gotten the parents a visit from the Children's Aid Society... What the hell is going on???

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if other women walking near us did as well, to a somewhat lesser extent; I have certainly felt grunched when women near me were the overt grunchees. Judging one woman that way turns every woman in earshot into a body.… Multiple experiences of the sickening grunch—not just once, not just twice, but over and over again, as grunchee and as witness—is what makes it so damned hard to take when “sexy” and similar social constructions of femininity haul my body unceremoniously into the conversation when it is utterly irrelevant to what’s going on. And whether I want it to be or not. I don’t control the conversation about my body. I can’t.

POPSGerman 'Venus' may be oldest yet
The Venus of Hohle Fels was found in six fragments in September 2008. It is still missing its left arm and shoulder, but researchers are hopeful these will emerge in future excavations of the cave's sediments. The figurine does not have a head. Rather, it has a carefully carved ring located off-centre above its broad shoulders. The polished nature of the ring suggests the Venus was probably suspended as a pendant. The hands have precisely carved fingers, with five digits clearly visible on the left hand and four on the right hand. The pronounced breasts, buttocks and genitals familiar in later Venuses are usually interpreted to be expressions of fertility. The Venus shows no signs of having been covered with pigments. It is, though, marked by a series of cut lines. The artefact is presumed to have been made by modern humans (Homo sapiens) even though Neanderthals (Homo neanderthalensis) were still present in Europe at this time.
