Zimbabwe returns to the ox and plough
    michellezm
    by michellezm  5-23-2007
Is anyone surprised. Just another post-colonial African country utterly destroyed by an insane man who stripped away all white-owned farms and in the process destroyed an entire country. More frightening for white South Africans is that our president, Mbeki, has not opened his mouth once in condemnation of Mugabe. Instead he globe-trots as thousands of Zimbabwe refugees flood our country every day. Zenaphobia(sic) is rife as many Zimbabweans, Mocambiqueans, Somali, Nigerians and Ethiopians are being murdered by our local black people who see the influx of foreigners as a direct threat to their own livelihoods. Mbeki, is South Africa's Mugabe of the future. You Americans are not the only ones with a fool for a president.

Millions facing famine in Ethiopia as rains fail
    cakebelly
    by cakebelly  8-29-2009
more (at source): Donor countries provided sustenance to 12 million Ethiopians last year, more than half of it through the UN's World Food Programme (WFP). Having passed that total only eight months into this year, and with the main harvest already in doubt, aid agencies fear the worst is still to come. "We're extremely worried," said Howard Taylor, who heads the Department for International Development's office in Ethiopia. DfID has given £54m in aid to the country this year, and Britain has also contributed through the EU. "This is exactly the time when we shouldn't turn away from the people in need," he said.

    Thousands flee fighting in Somalia
    tommy2balmy
    by tommy2balmy  9-25-2008
David Shinn, a former US diplomat who teaches at the George Washington University, said fighters from the hardline al-Shabab militia were trying to assert their authority in order to force the Ethiopians out. They are trying "to show that they are in a position to perhaps even take control of Mogadishu if the Ethiopian forces were to leave", he told the BBC.

Is it now too late for Bush and America to prolong the suffering of the Somalian people and attempt further undemocratic means of prevent the will of the majority of the people from prevailing? Will the US withdraw its lackey Ethiopia from meddling in an other's business? Will the US ever forgive Somalia from the hiding it received against its best by a rag-band prepared to stand up to international bullying? How many enemies does it need to maintain 'fortress America' and live in perpetual fear?

sometimes the ice in the sky forms into little plates, and when they rotate the right way together, they refract light like a prism, causing a rainbow effect (I lost an article about a cloud shaped rainbow, : [ ).. in this case it formed a halo around the sun in Ethiopia, around an election, and this also coincides on a holy day. Also, this happened there before in 1991 during a regime change.
