POPSBBC: Israel's Secret Weapon Mordechai Vanunu, Israel's nuclear whistle-blower, was jailed in 1986 for publishing photographs of Israel's nuclear bomb factory at Dimona. Olenka Frenkiel reveals the extent of Israel's nuclear gagging. Vanunu has spent 17 years in jail, 11 of which were in a minute solitary confinement cell. Sunday Times journalist Peter Hounam heard rumours in 1986 that an Israeli whistle-blower was offering proof of what the world had long suspected. Vanunu was that whistle-blower. His revelations confirmed that Israel was building advanced nuclear weapons. After the Sunday Times published this scoop, Vanunu was lured to Italy and kidnapped by Mossad agents and illegally smuggled back to Israel. He was tried in secret and convicted of treason and spying.

POPSMechanism that triggers differentiation in embryo cells discovered They found in their experiments, using embryos from laboratory mice and cells that grow in culture, that this entire process is actually controlled by a single gene, called G9a, which itself is capable of directing a whole program of changes that involves turning off a large set of genes so that they remain locked for the entire lifetime of the organism, thereby unable to activate any further cell flexibility.

POPSCinephiliacs, now Necrophiliacs Antioni and Bergman die on the same day, and while some suggest cinephilia is dead, but I don't know. I'd imagine every college coffeeshop in America will be in a month long state of mourning. Although the majority of the college students who will be wearing black to honor these passed auteurs at the end of the month will return to wearing black just because, we shouldn't view them as culturally irrelevant. In fact, I'm fascinated because Antioni and Bergman have reached beyond merely the people who understand their movies, and even beyond the people who have even seen their movies. As far as I know, a poster of Blow Up or the Seventh Seal just comes with a college dorm room. These two artists have become cultural institutions, and even if it is just momentary, it is them and their art that lends temporary meaning to an entire cultural identity. The ability to do this seems to me one of the most transcendent powers of art.

POPSAre People's Individual Rights Going Up In Smoke As a former smoker, I know what it feels like to be made to feel like a pariah for smoking. I have spent many a lonely moment on cold patios or street corners. I have become at this point very much a believer that smoking is a public health issue. However, the key word here is "public." What people do in the privacy of their own homes is sacrosanct and the government should have no say in those matters. If a person rents an apartment or home where smokers used to reside, just air the place out and have it cleaned. If that is not enough, that search a bit harder to find accommodations that was previously occupied by non-smokers. But please, keep the government out of our homes.

POPSTHE DEADLIEST CARD GAME IN TOWN
but they have joined the right’s sycophants and willingly do the bidding of the LOBBY FIRMS in order to receive the dirty money (more like blood money) these cut-throats will give them (to turn a blind eye) in the form of campaign contributions. A shell game of sorts, where the suckers, in many instances, have no idea of what is going on and how it negatively affects their well-being. It's a sad game that cannot be won by anyone who falls into a category called LOW-INCOME. The banks and credit card companies’ makeup all the rules and they are always in their favor. NO ONE, can get out of the traps they set, while they siphon off any earnings said suckers have given their blood, sweat and tears to acquire. It should be a crime because it is criminal but it is not. Watch, learn and weep for those who get snared in THE DEADLIEST CARD GAME IN TOWN, where there is no place to turn for help.
