POPSNonviolence As Their Weapon "It was 2001. Khatib watched in horror as Israeli soldiers shot an unarmed friend at a checkpoint. Two weeks later, the militant Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade made a revenge attack on the checkpoint, killing seven soldiers. "My first reaction was 'Good for Al Aqsa!' " Khatib said. Then he realized the dead soldiers belonged to a different unit, not the one on duty when his friend was shot. "It made me wonder: This cycle of death, of violent action and reaction, how we can break it?"

POPSIs being an expert a key to good leadership? Clipped this from an interesting article that uses General Electric as an example of a company that doesn't prioritize expertise or understanding of how things work or how they're made in or to manage their development. From my personal experience with Clipmarks and Amplify i can definitely say that i wish i had greater knowledge of how things work technically and have often felt that i would help us make better decisions if i did. That said, i also think my lack of knowledge about how things work has allowed me to have an open mind about things, because i'm not burdened with the knowledge of how difficult things may be.

POPSWorld is facing a natural resources crisis worse than financial crunch To understand the nature of accelerating change, see the Clips below. They show the statistical nature of the problem. Dr. Albert Bartlett: Arithmetic, Population and Energy (transcript) - Part 1 http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/9ACF7407-5408-4A61-9DEC-DAFA7484AECE/ Dr. Albert Bartlett: Arithmetic, Population and Energy (transcript) - Part 2 http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/26B7972E-AD22-4AC6-8AEC-E76CEF735804/ The solution has be implemented virtually instantaneously, if there is to be any chance of survival. But all it takes is a change of mind about the purpose of life -- from earth consumer / exploiter to earth carer / partner. To change one's mind takes only a micro-second and we already have the means of instant communication. The choice is simple, clear and stark.

POPSEl Sistema: Changing Lives Through Music This is something I really believe in & have been working hard at the last few years in the area where I live. I think its absolutely tragic that millions of kids in our country have no musical education or training.

POPSWe Feel Like The Ghost, Not The Machine
" But it's time to bring experience back. Neuroscience has effectively investigated the sound waves, but it has missed the music. Although reductionism has its uses -- it is, for instance, absolutely crucial for helping us develop new pharmaceutical treatments for mental illnesses -- its limitations are too significant to allow us to answer our biggest questions. As the novelist Richard Powers wrote, "If we knew the world only through synapses, how could we know the synapse? Virginia Woolf, for example, famously declared that the task of the novelist is to "examine for a moment an ordinary mind on an ordinary day ... the pattern, however disconnected and incoherent in appearance, which each sight or incident scores upon the consciousness." In other words, she wanted to describe the mind from the inside, to distill the details of our psychological experience into prose. That's why her novels have endured: because they feel true. And they feel true because they capture a l

POPSWhat Wonderous Love Is This? We used to sing this song in our church; we were such family there. Father Harry, & Father Brian, how I miss you so! We all held hands and sang, at times like that I so miss the connections I had there, which are now fragmented due to the mine subsidence which took down our little church. But I still sing on in a different way :)

POPSThe Relative Nature of Space and Time Okay, I'm sure you know what the two principles are, but just in case, let's go over them. Light, it has been determined, always travels at a constant speed, regardless of its source or the frame of reference. The other is the principle of relativity, which basically states that motion is relative. The combination of these two principles show that time is also relative. And as previously discussed, you can't separate time from space. So if time is relative, space must be also. How is it that time is relative?

POPSTransplanted Organs "Remember" Their Donor Where do memories reside? This is so weird! It's actually pretty creepy, I reckon. A 29-year-old lesbian and a fast food junkie received a heart from a 19-year-old woman vegetarian who was "man crazy." The recipient reported after her operation that meat made her sick and she was no longer attracted to women. If fact, she became engaged to marry a man. The whole article is well worth the read.

POPSPermanent Peace Change from within in positive ways & things change on the outside proportionately & as I see it as our personal vibration changes like minds begin to resonate & it grows in intensity. Collective consciousness is definitely growing & I'm sure we are going to be seeing more positive evidences of its usefulness.

POPSYou Reap What You Sow What you think you create, energy is never lost only transformed etc. Even quantum physics seems to suggest there is some sort of karma. What exactly IS karma, if it exists at all? Divine retribution / reward of sorts, or just actions / reactions? Hmm...

POPSThere Is No Wealth But Life Being willing to say such things about capitalism does not mean that one has a special access to the Truth, but it also doesn’t mean that one is a mere ideologue, or that most dismissible of things, a communist. It merely requires honesty about what looks us right in the face. It requires intellectual conscience. The whole article is definitely worth a read.

POPSSource Code For How The Universe Functions Found Thanks to one of pokkets clips I spent a good part of my day reading this very easy to understand view of our universe which makes it easier to grasp the concepts of quantum theory & special relativity. Go to the site with a cup of coffee & expect to learn a lot about how this information applied can help turn around the direction we've been headed as humanity.

POPSHow Do You Greet People??? I met a friend whom I've been communicating with lately who always ends their e-mail with the word Namaste. When I asked about the definition of the word I thought it was very beautiful & did some further research which only deepened my appreciation even more as I feel it reflects more of how I view the world today. I'd encourage all who are desiring to make this world a better place to read the complete article which gives a little history on the various forms of greetings & especially this word namaste.
