POPSAre the Holy Grail and Ark of the Covenant Hidden...in Denmark?!? "It is undeniable that those who planned and built the churches of Bornholm knew exactly what they were doing and why they did it,'' the authors say. The authors point to a find of nearly 3,000 tiny, intricately carved golden figures unearthed in a 1985-86 excavation of a Bornholm field as lending credibility to their claim of a Bornholm connection. The golden figures have been dated to AD 400-600 when the Merovingians -- a clan of Frankish kings who claimed to be, like Jesus, of the house and lineage of the Bible's King David -- were at the height of their power. Descendants of the Merovingians later settled in Burgundy. In medieval times, the island was known as Burgunderland or Burgunderholm. The book also quotes a AD 417 work by Spanish historian Orosius, which says the Burgundians came from Bornholm. http://www.rense.com/general6/baltic.htm *LOL* I love stuff like this. .:p

POPSFive-Second Touch Can Convey Specific Emotion, Study Finds The researchers also recorded a complex vocabulary of touch — a shake, a rub, a pat or a squeeze, small changes in the amount of pressure applied, variations in the abruptness of the stroke, changing rates at which the fingers moved across the skin, and differences in the location and duration of the contact. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrKKcxB5MwY

POPSHow Your Brain Controls Time
Warren Meck of Duke University argues that the brain measures long stretches of time by producing pulses. But the brain does not then count the pulses in the way a clock does. Instead, Meck suspects, it does something more elegant. It listens to the pulses as if they were music. At Humboldt University of Berlin in Germany, scientists have been building a model of how memory may store time. When neurons produce a regular cycle of signals, some signals come a little sooner and some come a little later. The researchers propose that as neurons pass these signals along, they can add tiny advances, some bigger than others. With these tiny wobbles, the brain can compress memories of time from several seconds down to hundredths of a second—a small enough package to store for later retrieval. As it stores time in memories, the brain may alter it in another way that is even more radical. It may record time so that our brains recall events in backward order. Scientists at MIT discovered re

POPSSolar system a bit squashed, not nicely round "Imagine a balloon is being blown up by the solar wind. You might imagine that if you took a balloon, which is mainly spherical, and pushed it against the wall, it would be blunted on one side," said Edward Stone of the California Institute of Technology, one of the scientists involved in the research.

POPSGood vibrations may help reduce falls Older people can have difficulty exercising, or be 'chairbound', and this can affect their balance. It keeps getting harder to exercise, affecting balance, and muscle strength. The vibrating platform, was tested by checking the improvement by recording the time they could stand on one leg, they generally showed improved balance. They tested for balance, but osteoporosis , and deep vein thrombosis, are thought to become more likely as activity decreases. This platform, and the vibrations could also provide the muscle movement that can alleviate these conditions as well.

POPSFolding paper in half twelve times People thought that paper could not be folded in half more than 8 times. They just weren't thinking about it the right way. (There is bound to be text on the page, but my plugins are playing up, so I couldn't see where it was. I thought the picture said enough.)

POPSThe Music Of Nature The music of nature. Just hit the site to listen to a beautiful symphony of cricket songs. I just love sitting outside on the porch at night, enjoying a beer and some good company and listening to the symphonies and dramas of the insect world. Crickets (though they are somewhat creepy littte bugs to me) have one of the most relaxing sounds I know.... next to the sound of a beer being opened, that is. *LOL* ;)

POPSGod Is the Machine---0 then 1 There are many ways to view God & any sober member of AA realizes that some concept of God/Power greater than themselves is necessary to their recovery & part of the 12 Steps. 2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. 3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him. 5. Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. 6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character. 11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out. 12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

POPSThe Relative Nature of Space and Time Okay, I'm sure you know what the two principles are, but just in case, let's go over them. Light, it has been determined, always travels at a constant speed, regardless of its source or the frame of reference. The other is the principle of relativity, which basically states that motion is relative. The combination of these two principles show that time is also relative. And as previously discussed, you can't separate time from space. So if time is relative, space must be also. How is it that time is relative?

POPSTransplanted Organs "Remember" Their Donor Where do memories reside? This is so weird! It's actually pretty creepy, I reckon. A 29-year-old lesbian and a fast food junkie received a heart from a 19-year-old woman vegetarian who was "man crazy." The recipient reported after her operation that meat made her sick and she was no longer attracted to women. If fact, she became engaged to marry a man. The whole article is well worth the read.

POPSNo Concept of Numbers & Counting Linked to Thought I couldn't help but wonder if this separatist type of thinking affects mathematical intelligence(Maybe others such as music) to some degree. For ex-Is there or has there been any research to show that when one views them self as better, less than or the same as a change in their mathematical intelligence occurs. Or how about religious groups, nations, etc. Anyway some food for thought & would like some feedback. Thanks.

POPSResearcher Links Storytelling, Math Ability This study suggests that building strong storytelling skills early in the preschool years may be helpful in preparing children for learning mathematics when they enter school. ''It is also a nice finding, I think, because storytelling is something every parent can easily do and foster with their children, without the need to buy any fancy toys or materials,'' said O'Neill. Given these findings, O'Neill is continuing in further studies, also funded by Science and Engineering Research Canada, to explore more precisely what aspects of storytelling are linked to aspects of mathematical ability.

POPSSource Code For How The Universe Functions Found Thanks to one of pokkets clips I spent a good part of my day reading this very easy to understand view of our universe which makes it easier to grasp the concepts of quantum theory & special relativity. Go to the site with a cup of coffee & expect to learn a lot about how this information applied can help turn around the direction we've been headed as humanity.

POPSNumerology For Accountants I'm a numerologist & was blown away when a search on "numerology" brought up this title & found there was a law, "Benford's Law" that outlines a pattern of the distribution of numbers. Numerology is a study in the science of vibration, patterns & proportion. It looks at numbers/letters not just as things but symbols/icons that represent qualities/attributes. Numerology has been looked upon as a psuedoscience & I believe this is just the beginning of how this science can be applied to our lives & help to make this world a better place. I'm dedicated to revealing more about this wonderful science as I have the time. If you find articles/subjects along these lines please e-mail me. Thanks!

POPSThe Origins of Music An absolutely enlightening recorded lecture on why music affects us the way it does & how it is conveyed. I don't think I've ever read an article on the origins of music more fascinating than this. I guarantee you will not be disappointed in taking the time to read this short lecture by Rudolf Steiner. I'm a musician/singer/songwriter & through my life a question I've often been asked is, "Where do you get your ideas?" If you've asked this question too, please read this lecture. If you find it resonates with you'll know what to do next & "That's what it's all about!"

POPSA Simple Electric Motor Elegant & simple. A demonstration of opposites(magnetism & electricity). I love it. I'm a volunteer worker at school with a program that works with gifted & talented kids & I love sharing simple experiments like these. It was things like this that piqued my interest in science & the occult when I was young.

POPSSculptures By Orhogonal Intersection Just one of many beautiful works by what I believe a brilliant and original artist. I just loved seeing how he creates these unique sculptures from what are essentially simple techniques & not excepting the thought that sculpture is made by adding or removing Guido came up with a new method, separation. Numerology recognizes nothing comes into existence without three & Mr. Moretti has discovered/revealed this to us in his art.
