POPSMaths Again Samy Vellu I am no economist, to throw figures around. Generally figures are shared to prove or otherwise issues relating to socio-economic issues. Samy has a weakness for figures; this I found out when reading an earlier article on him spoofing figures. See: http://aarvidi.wordpress.com/2007/12/10/datuk-seri-samy-velu-the-maths-whiz-kid/. But to be fare him let me analyse the figures he gives: 300 million MIC-run Asian Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology (AIMST) University in Kedah. 130 million Tamil Schools 8 million Tafe College 1 million Temples 4 million Micro-loan fund That makes a whooping 443 million dollars. A big sum for me, considering my counting a thousand dollars takes the least 2 or 3 recounts before being satisfied. I hope all the money went to the respective institutions, and they benefited, casting aside my concern and fear of the infamous Telecoms shares and Maika; two big thorns still troubling without an end. But figures, that the

POPSThree Thangachis (sisters) Frighten Sami Vellu
Understandably Hindraf makes Samy Vellu go into cold sweat and a recurring nightmare. This is to be expected, because he has never been confronted by main issues by a big group, 5,000, 10,000 or 25,000. Telecoms shares and Maika scandle he could take in his stride but Hindraf turned the tables. But here just 3 ladies, fighting for gender equality, became another night mare for the numero uno. Three decades he rules but three women frighten him. It is hard to believe. Surely this Hindraf fellows have mellowed him from a roaring lion to a whimpering mouse. His goons around him did no better. Manhandling a woman is clear indication they are scums of the gutters. Their background is suspect and I wonder whether they know to differentiate gender, each requiring tact of a different kind from a male. Sexist remarks like “toilets are like new brides” just flow out from Samy Vellu, and it would have been a scene to watch if he had replied to the ladies instead of calling it a politi

POPSBail Out Of Penang So is is obvious Gerakan was not maintaining the economic climate well. Motorola would have shifted its operations to China. A through study is required to look into the problems of other electronic giants and correct them. The elections is a blessing to the 10,000 workers, without which the federal government would not have raised a finger to help, the Badawi corridors would have taken preference. Most of the foreign investors want to move and new ones are reluctant to come, the government should make extensive studies to find out the problems the existing companies face and overcome them if possible. New investors prefer neighboring countries, cheesed off by our 30% equity rules and other stringent measures. If nothing is done, Malaysia is dead.

POPSDatuk Seri Rafidah Aziz, Great Pretender Drifting Alone Remember The Platters? They were popular in the 1950s, and they had this great song called “The Great Pretender.” Keep in mind the lyrics “Oh yes, I am the great pretender, adrift in a world of my own.” If this chubby lady wants to drift alone in this world and makes every one a fool, who are we to say anything. But don't she pretend too much and end up the fool.

POPSPrice Monitoring Officers Another gimmick by the Prime Minister to appease the uncertainty of the voters and population in regard to shortage of essential goods and price hikes. POPSWhere To Malaysia
Theatrics aside, most of the people who traditionally voted Barisan Nasional, feel the same shame in various degrees, depending on age and status. From Mahathir to Badawi the people are strangled positively, every freedom from birth to death given a new meaning, ala UMNO. Barisan was formed in good faith with the main idea of uniting the Malaysians, live peacefully as citizens of this wonderful country Malaysia, Our fore-fathers who nurtured this country from infancy would now turn in their graves if they know, the plight, the uselessness, impotence the children grand-children and great grand-children of their groin are going through. If only they would have known the future by looking at the crystal ball, believe me the the British would have been better masters. Justice, fair play, rule of law, personal freedom, religion, education and all socio-economic issues were meted out without fear and favour. An orang putih and a local drain sweeper were the same. POPSLand Grab 900 farmers times 3 adult voters in a family, Komala may not want to lose 2,700 voters. I have my gut feeling, the farmers will get their land, or given a concrete assurance by none other than Toyol. Remember the honorarium of RM 2000 for Civil Servants by Cuepecs. What a waste waiting until March this year, take my word the coffers will be empty and Government will shed tears, crocodile tears I mean. Putrajaya voters it is not too late, Tengku Adnan is there, get the money now, it belongs to you, but voting is another matter, vote with your conscience.

POPSKayveas in Taiping I was reading an e-mail and there were 3 reasons given why Kayveas should not be elected in Taiping. Reason No. 1 SJKT Kg Jebong Lama is a container! TAIPING: SJK (T) Kampung Jebong Lama in Simpang may have the smallest \"class\" in the country. Measuring six metres by three metres, the container has been used by students since 2002 due to a shortage of classrooms. Students have to alternate between the classrooms and another in an adjoining wooden building and the container. Those using the container can only do so until 11am as the heat gets unbearable after that. When this happens, they adjourn to the canteen to resume their lessons. I read also an allocation of RM 550,000 has been made for a new school. Has anybody further news on this. Reason 2 Kayveas called for closure of all Tamil schools. I am trying to get to the source of the article. Reason 3 When Ali Rustam and the UMNO youth were up in arms with Kayveas, he did not fight back, but he doe

POPSGerakan, DAP, Indians
Datuk Chang Ko Youn admits Gerakan had not worked hard enough for the Indians. But he conveniently forgot to mention why this was so. Possible answers are, they were busy, they forgot there was an Indian community, Gerakan is not for Indians alone but for all Malaysians, but er...er...during the last 4 years never thought much of Indians anyway. Come election time, Gerakan looks for the Indians, but how do they placate them, blame DAP. Whip DAP. You are doing well Datuk Chang Ko Youn. The Indians remember well your predecessor Lim Keng Yeik the notorious judge of Indian people who, as alleged by him, hide behind rubber trees. They are still in hiding and I cannot imagine them coming out for Gerakan simply because the fear of an another accusation now they are hiding behind houses. Indians hide and they want to hide from Gerakan. You say DAP can't do much for Indians. Thany you for reminding the Indians of your personal view, but the Indians at least are not ungrateful, the

POPSOng Ka Chuan I love this guy, so naive, so innocent, so stupid, I hope the Tanjung Malim people will know what to do with him, it's a safe seat. He is the secretary-general of MCA, whether he has access to Badawi I don't know, but I like his style and people can be rest assured he will carry the mantel for the Chinese. He did make some pledges way back in 2004, hopefully some of them good for the people. He was not elected, pledges go down the drain, ungrateful people, let them suffer, I will bring this up the next time I stand again. I love this, he has copyrighted the pledges, ala Ong Ka Chuan, but wait, some did vote him did they, let them die, not elected I won't do anything. So Tanjong Malim voters elect him, otherwise no fulfillment of pledges because I can't see the PM, my brother got other things to do. How clever can he get.

POPSSanta Claus For Felda I am happy for the Felda settlers, their Santa Claus came in person bringing in goodies. Enjoy it while you can. Two storey building, a community hall and a hearse for RM90,000. While thinking of Felda, I also thought about Cuepacs fighting for the civil servants and possibly, yes possibly, in March will know the honorarium of RM2,000 each for civil servants is on or not. Ceupacs made the biggest mistake. Once elections is over, the euphoria of Santa Claus, wont be there, Najib gives, Badawi considers. Ceupacs should have banged on Najib. Poor Ceupacs.

POPSThreats And Lies What another lie and threat. Najib warned about May 13 and Samy this. Congratulations. A vote for MCA, Gerakan, MIC, PPP, and other coalition parties is a vote for UMNO, it is said. A vote for MIC on the other hand, is to keep Samy active in politics till he is 77 years old, tottering about, playing God to UMNO, shake his head and say yes, pity at that time the motion comes in under reflex action and not by muscle control. Samy is all set to rule MIC and at every passing date he gets the shivers he may yet fail after 32 years. Why single out PAS, what if Indians vote DAP or PKR, is it alright then, but MIC still becomes redundant and irrelevant. The opposition at least stepped out of the way to defend the Indians when they maligned by UMNO members in Parliament. Remember Sothinathan and S.K.Devamany but you played cool and kept dumb. So who is better MIC or the opposition. Indians have disintegrated well and good under MIC and what more could be worst. By the way no

POPSDisillusioned with MIC Surprised to see this. Indian youths distributing Harakah the Pas newsletter. Will Pas acknowledge now, how Indians have changed, and will think of all Malaysians when formulating policies. In my area I am voting Pas and I expect my representative to think pan Malaysian when Parliament debates on issues concerning race, religion, and parochialism is a no no. My representative is going to get a mouthful if he is found lacking.

POPSDonald Lim I was surprised that he was booed at the church forum, which in a away shows the displeasure of the people and at the same time to drive home the message, whether MCA, MIC, or Gerakan, candidates cannot hide behind UMNO whenever things go wrong. To my mind they should be pro-active, and not connive with UMNO and then at election time come around telling people I will do this and that. How often do these coalition party members have lost the rights to represent the voters when they kowtow to UMNO even when the decision affects non-Muslims. If the situation arises where UMNO can pull them up for defending wrong policies, then the obvious is to resign and seek a fresh mandate from the people. If they don't this booing is a prelude to many more to come. Churches and their members cannot be bystanders now, they should show as St Francis charge did, engage the candidates in conversation, to know what they will do if elected.

POPSSamy: PKR Samseng Behind Demos I just don't understand this man. Lie after lie. It is said one lie leads to nine other lies, But in the case of Samy it is like bullets from a gun, no end, as long as bullets are available. He has got an armory that stretches from Sungei Siput to Kuala Lumpur and I can't imagine him running short of bullets. A habitual liar in Tamil is "anda pulukan", translated lies by the bucketful or a large vessel. Samy deserves this honorific title Anda Pulukan. The award is ready, but who is to bell the cat. Dinners are cancelled for various reasons, but the shame of it, the main guest, aborts it because the guests, including the Indians, prevented him from entering the hall. This is a Malaysian record of some sort. Please read my comments here: http://aarvidi.wordpress.com/2008/02/27/samy-pkr-samseng-behind-demos/

POPSThank You Prime Minister Yes sir, thank you very much for this RM 500 PC. You will help us to increase the number of bloggers in Malaysia as our information gathering has been strangled by our local newspapers. As for me, I have to stick to my normal PC, I can't image myself fighting with my wife on a day to day basis, every time a Tamil mega serial is on and I want to use the computer.

POPSSemua-nya Okay Correct, correct, correct. Badawi is the best Prime Minister we have had so far. No complaints against him at all. The trouble creators are the opposition, what gall have they, to criticise the PM or his Ministers. The opposition should only mention the good deeds of the group, like when they last kissed a baby, etc etc. No personal attacks, after all the invitation has been send out, sleep with me, it is a national past time. So remember to mention the good points of the government, only, no personal attacks, everybody has weakness, that includes all 25 million people. After spicing the speech with all the goodness of the government, you the opposition can, although unnecessary, close your speech, with I don't care if you vote me or not, I am fascinated by the good work of the government, I am here for the fun, the experience of an election, thank you. Remember Rashid is watching over you.

POPSThe Modern Aladdin
Does Information Minister Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin know how to assess efficiency. One problem was clogged train and garbage collection in the market area, and the other car parking problem at the mosque. I am not sure how long these two problems existed, one year, two or more. The problems did not surface when the dumb ex Information Minister visited the site. It existed. Therefore, what were Sungai Petani Municipal Council president Azmi Din and Kuala Muda district officer Datuk Khazali Din, doing before the visit of the Honourable Minister of Information. Both of them were seating on their chubby posteriors waiting for a Aladdin to come with his magic lamp to rub off the problems. Along comes Aladdin, in the form of Misinformation Minister Zainuddin Aladdin, presto both these misfits, aka dynamic and action oriented officers, helped the modern Aladdin to rub the lamp, relate the problems to the genie, and the genie just phoofed off the problems now. No problems now. Clap, c

POPSVoters Like Him
Kayveas is a gonner. He now says voters have grown to like him. He loves Taiping. When voters start to like the candidate, two things can happen. One is very straight forward, I like you but still will stab you in the back. The second more subtle, yes we love you or like you but will still vote opposition. Why do I say this. I am not from Taiping. But based on experience of potential candidates, this love and like voters is a cheap stunt and it does fail you. Now to the proof. Ex Putrajaya Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor loved his voters. This platonic love, no sex here please, was his down fall. A chap who wants to wine and dine with his voters, to reciprocate his love, instead of doing the work of a representative, irked the Government so much, he was not even nominated. See what love does. Kay boy has been sending birthday cards. What affection and care. Reminds me of Insurance agents sending me birthday cards, not because, they love me, but a re

POPSSothi, Sothi You are still in the dark, are you not, Sothi. Indians voted for Barisan Nasional. Were their interests looked after by them. Please pause, think, and then in all honesty admit whether your versiion is correct. MIC is the main culprit for the marginalisation of the Indians and still you dare say interests of Indians have been looked. If so, please tell me why Hindraf came about. This 50 year thing is pure rhetoric. Talk about the last few years, may be the last 5 years. Did MIC really represent the community or did it represent the interest of MIC and its cronies. Please be specific. The only time you spoke for the Indians, you were suspended from Parliament. After that did you ever think about speaking for the Indians. The campaigning is just beginning, please think of new catch phrases, new ideas, don't be in denial and finally don't lie. At least then the people will be happy they heard a meaningful campaign speech rather than some bull. Please learn.

POPSIntelligent Marc Lourdes
He is the best, with his complete appraisal of the Indians in this country. He did not see any rose. So he believes the Hindraf leaders were masquerading as trouble makers and disturbing the peace and there was nothing to suggest roses were to be given to the Prime Minister. For a reporter like him, I believe he will go far, who knows he is already material for higher responsibilities. I know he must earn a living, but not this way. Malaysiakini has this to say, but I suppose Marc only reads the NST, fearing his knowledge and propaganda which he has learned will be forgotten. Good, he sees only things right in front of him, a one-eyed look and nothing will make him look left or right. A man with limited vision but even with this limitation, he can at one look seize the situation and make a complete report. He is a genius. Anyway, Malaysiakini said this and Lourdes may have a second opinion: A highly-charged Thanenthiran told reporters that Abdullah should not be claiming t

POPSMGG Pillai He was a friend I never met. I only knew him from some e-mails we exchanged. I thought I was short changed by the treatment given to me by a government hospital. I wanted to complain but knew not how to go about it. I said so in my e-mail to him, and within a few hours the complaint letter was ready and was published in Malaysiakini. The letter was written in the inimitable MGG Pillay style, terse but right to the point. I enjoy his style of writing, without fear or favour, and maybe that was the reason he was sued by Vincent Tan. With the new found freedom of blogging, I started writing from November last. What a disappointment, the writing is so drab and sometimes unashamedly I admit I could have written better. So disjointed, not knowing what comes first, the head or the tail. I can't go near the way MGG Pillai wrote but he was, I believe, a born writer trained by numerous teachers during his journalistic days before he reached the maturity. I hope the people who made the

POPSGrace Assembly of God in Taman SEA, Petaling I found this from the web site of The Malaysian Bar. Odd, this article does not appear in the on line Star Paper. A 20 year wait for the land is a bit too long, but then it's election time. How I wish elections are held every year. A year is good enough to review the performance of our elected representatives and easier on the people to decide who is good and bad. The present 5 years is a tad bit too long, the report cards get bulky. Have their released the report cards yet.
