About me
Hey there, I love the internet. That statement alone can tell you a lot about me. I've got my own website (www.rcbarnes.com) which I try to update regularly. I also love video games. If you like half-life 2 you can find me on the =s!x= Clan server (www.soulsinexile.com)
But I'm not some sloppy single fat guy who dwells at a computer in the dark, quite the opposite.

I love going outside on grown up scavenger hunts (aka GeoCaching!), hiking, camping, etc..

I am trying to switch my life over to a more "green" way of living. Not that I'm a nature freak, but that I love building things and part of being green requires you to build/modify things to be more eco-friendly. Kills two birds with one stone.

I am in the US Navy, currently on a ship. But I will be stationed on shore here soon!! Finally! Been in for about 8 years now. Not 100% sure if I'll say in for life or not.
Why I use Clipmarks
Why? Because I can save a TON of time blogging about things I enjoy without having to write a lengthy article. I can clip it and say "Here! Look at this!" Which fits very nicely with my blog's theme.

Teenage Pedophile steals Baby
ZugZugTheOrc
by ZugZugTheOrc  12-29-2007
Okay, so the title is a bit harsh. But a teenager (18yro) did steal the GPS tracked baby Jesus from the manger scene. Sad thing was, they lived right across the street!!

Baby Jesus gets GPS for Chrismas

This is totally awesome! Not only does it provide a great way to keep your manger scene together (wish I had this when mine was stolen), but it can also provide an answer to one of Christianity's oldest questions "Is Jesus Real?" to which you can answer, "YES! I've even got his Geo Coordinates!"

About Time: Netscape Dies!!
ZugZugTheOrc
by ZugZugTheOrc  12-29-2007
Well this comes as no surprise to me at all. But I do give them credit for kicking around as long as they did. And I do not know too many major known software to die out like this either. I mean, Imagine if all of a sudden PhotoShop died and something else took it's place? But then again, if the future plays like I want it to, Windows will be "Bowing Out" within my lifetime. I think Linux is going to give Windows a run for it's money, and doing it for free! Anyways, thats off topic...

I dont know how I feel about this, but then again it is no different than that plastic I hold in my wallet. Except I've got no place for this in my wallet. But I do think this is a really neat idea. Maybe it will take off better than that Exxon Speedpass did.

I dont have many sweaters of my own. But the ones I do have always have those little pills all over them! I feel like some sort of monkey picking bugs out of my hair whenever I wear one. I am glad I came across this little article!

As usual, I came across something cool on the internet! This widget provides real-time statistics about how many people are on your site. I've seen some so called stat counters that required you to refresh the page, but this is the only one I've seen for free that was totally awesome. They also have graphs of your yearly/monthly/daily/hourly visitors (those take the respective amount of time to show any data).

YouTube uses Python as Language of Choice
ZugZugTheOrc
by ZugZugTheOrc  12-15-2007
I use Ubuntu Linux on my computer and I was looking for a programming language to start learning. There are many to choose from, Python, Perl, C/C++, Java, etc... The one I want to start with is called Python. What's neat is over at Python.org I found out that YouTube uses Python to make changes and such to their website (and or servers). I just thought this was neat.

Wii Want Won Too!
ZugZugTheOrc
by ZugZugTheOrc  12-15-2007
Well, this is good news! I don't know about you, but I am tired of showing up to GameStop (EB Games) or other game retailers only to find out they dont have any more! Whats worse is they refuse to tell you when they can expect another shipment. I suspect not even the company knows when because Nintendo is so short stocked. But for those of you who are awaiting a Wii here is your chance!

UAVs to use Enemy Power Lines to recharge!

by ZugZugTheOrc  12-15-2007
Well this is just awesome! I was talking with a buddy of mine who said that UAVs are great, but they can only go up for a small amount of time before having to turn back. I think this could solve the issue for sure.

Holy smokes would this have been useful! We went to so many ports that just did not have any WiFi access AT ALL! I think this would have been a God send! (Provided there were cellphone networks). Anyways, I will wait for this to become mainstream before I drop the almost $200 on it.

So when I was in Boston, I went to the museum there and saw an older version of AIBO as a museum attraction, and fell in love with it! Only thing keeping me from getting one was the horrible price tag. But now Sony says that they are going to release a new version, and I would love to get one of these! They are so awesome!!!

So this picture was taken on the 4th of December in the Mediterranean Sea. We had some HUGE seas. I was not aware of how huge they really were! So yeah, this is a picture of the waves coming over our flight deck.
