    Wal-mart spying on employees

The quote that jumped out at me: "We operate for the benefit of our shareholders to make sure this company is being appropriately and ethically run ." I'm not sure following people to the far corners of the globe to spy on their personal dealings is what I'd call ethical - that amongst other grievances like union busting , lowering basic standard of living , inequality in the work place , and destroying local economies & small businesses .

CIA suggests project Blue Book was a PR cover

The early U-2s were silver (they were later painted black) & reflected the rays from the sun, especially at sunrise and sunset. They often appeared as fiery objects to observers below. Air Force BLUE BOOK investigators aware of the secret U-2 flights tried to explain away such sightings by linking them to natural phenomena such as ice crystals and temperature inversions. Pre-War Intelligence Myths, courtesy of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

What the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence failed to connect is that if Chalabi was feeding information to Curveball , that means roughly 2/3rds of the intelligence that was used as justification for the war came from the INC.

Did CIA Deputy Dir. McLaughlin hide details about US intelligence?
    Xtraeme
    by Xtraeme  1-19-2007    1
This paints an interesting picture of John McLaughlin. According to this article there's email correspondence and corroborating testimony from other CIA officials confirming Drumheller spoke with McLaughlin about Curveball before Colin Powell's UN speech. This means there's a high probability McLaughlin was aware the information being presented was false. The question is who else knew? The only way we're going to find out is if there's a hearing and McLaughlin is subpoenaed before a court. Email / fax / phone your representatives and ask them to launch an investigation! http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/

How to find and use declassified US gov't. documents
    enbar
    by enbar  1-13-2007    1
A massive list of resources for anyone interested in doing research with declassified (i.e., "sensitive") documents. Includes many government and non-governmental websites, print publications, FOIA information, etc. Interested? Do your legwork now, before Bush re-classifies everything and makes it a felony to own copies of this material (yes, it's happened to several historians).

If the United States is going to continue to claim we're getting good intel using "torture-lite" techniques, maybe the President should declassify some of the findings to show us how it's actionably helped the war on terror.

US intelligence Reports: Iraq War fuels global terror threat.
    Xtraeme
    by Xtraeme  9-24-2006    6
At the end of the article the author reports, "McCain told CBS that the United States needs to prevail in Iraq, saying that failure in that country would only further complicate problems." In this instance, I agree. If we quit now I have little doubt that neighboring countries would openly and/or covertly vie for Iraqi controlled soil. The region is too resource rich to go uncontested. I just wish we had had the foresight to realize that invading Iraq would leave the United States militarily over-committed. Right now the President can’t outright threaten Iran or its nuclear program, because we don’t have the military might to oppose them. And what’s worse Iran knows it. In effect we’ve diminished our place at the bargaining table, because our military is stretched so thin that we could barely muster an effective counter-attack even in a worst-case scenario – like North Korea launching an ICBM.
